Coffee Lover’s Birthday Gift Crate

Good to the Last Drop:

Canvas Corp Brands “Beans and Bags” Coffee Lover’s Birthday Gift Crate

Hello, Friends!

Let’s face it: coffee makes the world go ’round! We drink it morning, noon and night! We stand in line for it, can’t begin our day without it, and that first sip in the morning is the fuel in our tank that gets us through the day. So what could be more fun than turning a mini crate into a container filled to the brim with coffee themed tags, envelopes and recipes for your favorite girlfriend?  That’s exactly why I made this Coffee Lover’s Birthday Gift Crate with the fabulous Beans and Bags collection from Canvas Corp Brands. Take a peeky:

Kathy by Design/ Beans and Bags 01

This is a birthday party waiting to happen! I have loads of pictures so you can see exactly what was tucked inside, but first, let me share a list of supplies that you’ll need to make this crate for one of your coffee loving friends:

MATERIALS

Coffee Beans and Bags 02

Getting Started:

Pull strings from the burlap fringe to make it even “fringier”. (Is that a word? But you get my drift!) Use Scor-Tape to secure the Burlap fringe to the mini vintage crate. Layer with ribbon, if desired.

Create the coffee cup from Brown and White Ivory Stripe Cardstock:

  • Use white C-flute for the band, chipboard for the center medallion and clear waste packaging for the domed top.
  • Fussy cut the Cafe label from the Beans and Bags paper. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and glue onto the chipboard disc, then glue onto the c-flute band.
  • Paint the back of the domed top with a light layer of White high impact metallic paint. Use the tip of your finger to swirl it around and then glue onto the top of the coffee cup. When it is dry, lightly smear Diamond Stickles to the back of the dome for a little extra sparkle. Set aside to dry.
  • Fussy Cut the French Coffee Label from Beans and Bags. Glue onto crate as shown.
  • Fill the bowl of a vintage silver spoon with hot glue and coffee beans. Top with a bow and glue onto the crate. Add flowers.
  • Tuck the prepared coffee cup behind the handle of the spoon.

Coffee Beans and Bags 03

It was exciting to realize that my favorite Gypsy Moments papers pair up with Beans and Bags like, well coffee and cream! I had a blast creating a bunch of whimsical tags to fill my mini crate.

Coffee Beans and Bags 04

You can see…this little crate holds a whole lot of birthday fun!

Coffee Beans and Bags 06

A mini kraft bag was turned into a gift card holder. Just add a Beans and Bags label (spritzed with Turquoise Glimmer Mist) and tuck some sweet surprises inside.

Coffee Beans and Bags 05

Why not tuck an individually wrapped chocolate, and a Gypsy Moments Birthday tag into a mini kraft bag? Nothing goes better with coffee than chocolate, and you can write your own birthday greetings on the tag…and even toss in a Starbuck’s gift card!

Coffee Beans and Bags 07

How about a recipe for my favorite Sour Cream Coffee cake? Better yet, bake one and include it as part of the gift! It will be received with enthusiasm, I promise you! These Kraft Recipe cards look great with the Beans and Bags papers, too!

Coffee Beans and Bags 08

I altered this Gyspy Moments Poses and Reflections panel by crossing out the word “passion” and adding alpha letters to spell COFFEE. The ivory teacup has been transformed into a coffee cup filled with flower petals. And the vintage coffee can image is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

Coffee Beans and Bags 09

This book cover is from Gypsy Moments “A Novel Thought” 12×12 papers. I love the fact that it works seamlessly with Beans and Bags, and super love that it looks like old leather! I turned this into a little accordion book with room inside to add photos or wishes for the birthday girl.

Coffee Beans and Bags 10

The kraft and black Beans and Bags paper is a fussy cutter’s playground! Love these images!

Coffee Beans and Bags 11

I used Gypsy Moments Poses and Reflections to make this insert. I really love the way these two collections complement one another!

Coffee Beans and Bags 12

There’s not a gal out there who hasn’t felt this way at the end of a long day! I cut a Gypsy Moments Market Garland in half and used it as a tab on this great image.

Coffee Beans and Bags 13

The Chocolate Brown Little Papers are a perfect match for this collection as well. Here, I’ve used one as a base for another great panel from Gypsy Moments Poses and Reflections. And adding coffee beans to the pages makes the crate smell amazing!

Coffee Beans and Bags 14

The Farmhouse Bake and Can Recipe Cards on Ivory were the perfect place to write down my mom’s recipe for the best iced coffee ever! The secret? Evaporated milk! This can was fussy cut from Beans and Bags Coffee and Tea Labels.

Kathy by Design/ Beans and Bags 01

When you put it all together, this is one sweet little gift package! And it only took me a couple of hours to put together from start to finish! The papers did all the heavy lifting. This project could be easily adapted for a guy, for Christmas, a hostess gift for the holidays or even a get well or welcome to the neighborhood gift. Anyway you choose to make it, the recipient of this unique gift will be delighted!

Thanks for stopping by! And remember, with enough caffeine….you can rule the world!

Serengeti Out of Africa Mini Album

Hello, Friends!

Do you remember the 1985 movie Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford? What an epic romance! The panoramic scenery and the wonderful soundtrack swept me away, and left an indelible imprint on my imagination. So when I received the gorgeous papers and ephemera in the 7 Gypsies Serengeti collection, my mind traveled back to that movie, and I decided to create a romantic Out of Africa Serengeti Mini Album to share with you today. I also have some step out photos to show you how I made the cover and binding.

7 Gypsies Serengeti Mini Album/Kathy by Design

The Serengeti papers are so inspiring to work with, just filled with vivid colors, wonderful vintage images and amazing background patterns. Imagine how thrilled I was to find a replica of the book on which the movie was based! I immediately wanted to make this the focal for my album. I actually made a blank mini book and then added it to the cover of my mini album. It looks like a well thumbed copy of the tale, doesn’t it? I fussy cut the wonderful Serengeti label from the Vitabu paper. If you are familiar with the story line, you know that lions played a central role in the telling of the tale, so I have included them here on the cover. The lion pin is one that I picked up at a yard sale and have been saving for just the right project. I also filled an Amber Apothecary Bottle with antique gold embossing powder, tied it with green hemp rope and added some hand made vintage book page flowers.

Serengeti Album 01

I had a Roma book cover in my stash, but needed to create a back cover for my album. So I cut a 5″ x 7″ piece of medium weight chipboard and ran it through my Cuttlebug with a Spellbinders Brick and Bark embossing folder. This created a wonderful wood grain texture on both sides of the chipboard. But I needed to get it to match the color of the Roma book cover. Thank heavens for the Tattered Angels Maritime paint system! It was the perfect tool to accomplish the job!

Serengeti Album 02

I used the Olive Vine spray mist from the paint system and applied it liberally. After heat drying, I sponged the entire surface with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I also lightly sprayed and sponged the Roma cover. Then I heat embossed both covers with clear embossing powder. This creates a great faux aged leather look and feel.

Serengeti Album 04

You would never guess that these book covers are made from chipboard, would you? Thanks, Tattered Angels!

Serengeti Album 05

The next step was to design the binding for the album. I wanted to use this vibrant fern burlap between the two covers. I also wanted to employ a hidden hinge binding inside the album. After a little thought, I realized that if I stitched a 3.25″ x 8″ strip of the burlap, overlapping the top and bottom by 0.5″ each, I would have a really sturdy, serviceable binding.

Serengeti Album 06

I cut a 12″ x 7″ rectangle from the Maua papers and measured in 4 3/8″ from both the right and left hand sides. After drawing a line to mark this measurement, I place one strip of 1/2″ Scor-Tape in the center of the back side of my burlap panel and positioned it between the two lines. Then, I flipped the paper over and sewed around the burlap binding and around the entire perimeter of the panel. I did this so that the finished stitching would be on the inside of my cover liner.

Serengeti Album 07

Here you can see the finished cover liner for my album, along with the hidden hinge binding. I followed this tutorial for the binding, as it is the clearest, simplest one I’ve found on YouTube. I cut a 9″ x 7″ panel of green cardstock and then followed the directions in the video. I covered the green side flaps of my binding with more paper from the Maua page, just to make everything blended in.

Serengeti Album 10

I really love the way the binding turned out! The vibrant green picks up on the elements I fussy cut from the Mabango paper. I punched a hole in the top of my binding and threaded through some avocado green help rope, white waxed cotton cording and natural hemp rope. I tied a series of knots with the red waxed cotton cording and slipped an Antique Silver Mini Round Hanger through the cording, pinching the hanger end closed to keep it in place. Then I threaded on the beautiful Serengeti Charms using jewelry wire to hold them in place. Finally, I frayed the ends of all the various cords and ropes to make them look like animal tails.

Serengeti Album 12

The inside contains 4 double sided pages. Inside the front cover, I created a pocket by covering a 3.5″ x 5.5″ kraft paper bag with an image from the Vitabu paper and a piece from the Serengeti Mini Ephemera Pack. I filled this with tags that I cut from cardstock, Vintage Travel Journal Pages and handmade cheetah paper. The facing page is covered with Picha paper. I also fussy cut the photo album from this paper and turned it into a pocket for photo mounts. The giraffe and pith helmet are from the Mini Ephemera pack.

Serengeti Album 13

The next double page is a fold out. I covered a 4″ x 6″ file folder with the Wanyama paper. I fussy cut stamps and covered two tags with this same paper. By leaving the top side of my photo mount open, I was able to make a pocket for tags. The facing page uses more of this same paper, but this time I cut a thumb hole with a circle punch and only glued down the top, bottom and sides, creating another pocket for photo mounts. I added another ephemera image to a tiny card and bag combo, topped it with a mini clothespin and created a perfect spot for journaling.

Serengeti Album 14

I covered the interior of the file folder with more of the beautiful Maua papers, then added both a large and medium photo mount.

Serengeti Album 15

The photo mounts are tied together with burlap and canvas ribbon, making them easy to insert and pull out.

Serengeti Album 16

I wanted to create lots of room for photos and journaling and found that the Vintage Travel Journal Pages are a great way to add both.

Serengeti Album 17

Here’s another pocket page made from Vintage Travel Journal pages! The facing page is decorated with Mihuri and Vitabu papers.

Serengeti Album 18

The mini ephemera in this collection is especially beautiful!

Serengeti Album 19

On the final page, I fussy cut the beautiful African lady from the Mabango paper. I painted the wooden medallion with the Tail Fin Glimmer Mist from the Maritime Paint System, then spritzed it with a little more of the Olive Vine Mist to deepen the colors. It makes me think of a warrior’s shield. The feathers, pebble and other fussy cut images make for a dramatic ending to this Serengeti Out of Africa Mini Album. Inside the back cover, I created a pocket by folding a journal card, stapling the edges and topping it with that gorgeous air mail ephemera. I stuffed the pocket with American Vintage Post Cards because the green was such a good match. You can both mount photos here and do journaling on the back.

Serengeti Album 11

I love this album! I can almost hear the soundtrack from Out of Africa playing in my mind! I hope you can, too!

Cheerio,

kathy

Epicurean Altered Vintage Receipt Holder

7 Gypsies Epicurean Altered Vintage Receipt Holder: A Tribute to Julia Child
This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down to view my Heartfelt Creations Wednesday Project.

Hello, Friends!

Or should I say, “Bonjour!” Today’s menu includes an Epicurean altered vintage receipt holder made with delicious Epicurean papers and a side of tasty embellishments from 7 Gypsies. I call it my Epicurean Tribute to Julia Child.

I’ve loved Julia ever since I was a little kid and watched her on public TV. She was outrageous…dropped chickens on the floor, sent chopped onions flying in all directions, threw exotic French phrases into her constant patter with the viewing audience and basically won all our hearts while teaching us that cooking should be approached with passion and a healthy dose of fun. When you think about the fact that she was introducing the US to fine French cuisine at the same time that TV dinners were taking the country by storm…well, it just makes you admire her all the more. I tried to capture her love of food, friends and France in this project, and I can’t wait to hang this Epicurean vintage altered receipt holder in my kitchen.

Epicurean Tribute to Julia Child/Kathy by Design

I wanted the receipt holder to have a finish like old baking trays, so I pulled out my Rusty Metal Bare Metal Paint Kit and the Maritime Paint System. I followed the simple directions that come with the paint system and my brand spanking new product achieved a fabulous, funky, well-loved patina that was just what I was aiming for.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 02a

The Epicurean papers are a perfect choice for foodies, as they celebrate cuisines from around the world. I chose the Fromage 12″ x 12″ papers as they feature French images, and I also used the Pomodoro papers because the bold red check pattern made me think of a tablecloth in a sidewalk cafe. I cut 4 rectangles from the Fromage paper, each measuring 3.25″ x 5.25″ and then stitched these to either navy blue or burgundy cardstock. I used these to line the base of my tray.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 03a

Next, I built my layers by combining fussy cut images from the paper collection with mini ephemera, 7 Gypsies Printed Recipe Cards, Gypsy Moments Recipe Tags and an assortment of charms.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 11a

For my focal point, I printed out a black and white photo of Julia Child, embossed it with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and framed it in a beautiful Antique Silver Gypsy Frame that had been sprayed with more of the Metal Paint system. I ran red and black gingham ribbon through the jump rings on either side of the frame and secured it to the center using foam tape and hot glue. The ribbons were topped with bingo chips whose numbers represent the year Julia Child was born. These vintage frames are such a great way showcase a photo! Behind the frame, I fussy cut a word from the Fromage papers and tucked it inside a little red metal index tab that I had in my stash. This along with the frame, ribbon and bingo chips helps draw the eye to the focal image.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 05a

In the top left hand corner of the tray, I created a little 3″ x 5″ book using the small Paris book cover and the Pomodoro papers. The cover has been aged with Maritime sprays and decorated with more mini ephemera and a die cut Eiffel Tower that I painted with iron chalkboard paint.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 08a

I created a hidden hinge binding system and then stuffed it full of Recipe Cards, fussy cut images, and quotes from Julia Child. The spine is wrapped with jute cording and tied with a jute cording bow.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 15a

I added cutlery charms and kitchen charms to an Antique Brass Vintage pin, then ran it through my recipe cards and added a black gingham bow. The chocolat sign was fussy cut from the Fromage papers and held in place with a paper clip.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 20a

Here’s a peek at the inside of the book. There are 6 double pages in all, each one containing a quote from Julia along with room to add a recipe or photo.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 13a

In the top right hand corner of the tray, I layerd fussy cut images from the papers and topped them off with a large tattered flower that I made with Tim’s tattered florals die and Canvas Corp red canvas and natural burlap. If you use iron on interfacing on the burlap, it die cuts like a dream, and resists fraying. I spritzed my floral layers with water and then scrunched them to add texture and body. A large fancy button was hot glued into the flower center. The leaves are cut free hand from more burlap. Black waxed cotton cording is wrapped around the center post. I also added this great black clothespin to the center post of the receipt clip, using a white painty pen to write Julia’s catch phrase on the pin’s surface.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 10a

In the lower left hand corner I wrapped the center post with red hemp rope, then added fussy cut images and ephemera to the tray base. I painted this nifty vintage spoon that I found at a flea market with the blue paint in the Maritime system, then added it to mix.

Epicurean Receipt Holder 22a

The bottom right tray is filled with a fun little vignette that I created with doll house miniature food and perfectly sized Gypsy Moments Recipe Tags. These were aged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and sprays from the Rusted Metal Paint Kit. I also added some “coffee rings” by dipping a bottle cap into the TA spray and “stamped” the image onto the recipe tags. I strung the tags together with more red hemp rope and then used foam tape to hold it in place. Another fussy cut word phrase from the Fromage papers was glued into a metal label holder that I aged with the Rusty Metal Paint System.

Epicurean Tribute to Julia Child/Kathy by Design

This would make such a great gift for a kitchen bridal shower or a birthday present for a foodie. I chose the French papers, but you could easily use this same idea to make a Greek, Asian, Italian , Mexican, or American themed projects. I hope you were inspired to create beautiful things both from your kitchen and your craft room with today’s Epicurean Altered Vintage Receipt Holder.

Bon appetit!

Maritime Sea Fever Album for 7 Gypsies

Hello, Friends!

I’m really excited to be sharing my Maritime Sea Fever album today on the Canvas Corp/7 Gypsies blog.  You all know how much I love the beach, so this album is near and dear to my heart.

Maritime "Sea Fever" Journal/Kathy by Design

Maritime “Sea Fever” Journal/Kathy by Design

Because we live fairly close to the beautiful North Carolina beaches, we visit as often as we can, to walk along the sand, soak up the sun, listen to the surf and let our spirits be refreshed and revived. We find all kinds of treasures along the way, and I thought it would be nice to create a little journal to write down memories and a poem about the sea. The cover is decorated with some of our favorite treasures: wood, shells, sand, bits of sea grass…all the things we love about the shore. I hope you’ll feel the serenity and freedom of the sea as you peruse the pages of this hand bound journal. Come walk with me beside the sea….

Here is what you will need to create your own Maritime Sea Fever album.

I started with a 14″ x 6″ piece of medium weight chipboard that came in some packaging I had. After scoring at 6″ and 7″, I creased the chipboard to form the book cover, then trimmed away any excess so that the front and back covers were even in size. Next, I cut a piece of canvas that was 1″ larger than the chipboard cover on all sides. I misted this with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist and stitched it directly to the chipboard base using my “messy stitching” technique. I cut a 4″ square of ivory burlap, misted it with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist, fringed the sides and adhered it to the front cover using Scor-Tape. I trimmed the corners of the canvas, covered the inside edges of my album with Scor-tape and then folded the canvas onto the inside of the cover.

Natural Nautical Journal_2

The white cardstock was embossed with Spellbinder’s “Shell Beauty” 3-D M-bossabilities folder. I inked the debossed side of the folder with the Distress Inks, one color at a time, then spritzed the paper with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist to add that “fresh from the ocean” shine. I used the mini ephemera, rope trim, Maritime Charms, and found items to embellish the cover. The turtle charm from the Maritime Charms was painted with White High Impact Metallic Paint.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 05

This rusty clip was created with the TA Rusty Bare Metals Paint System. It was originally bright green, so I just love the total transformation that occurred when I added layer after layer of mist.

Natural Nautical Journal_3

The inside cover liner was created with the 8×8 Maritime Paper Pad. I added Maritime Journal pages, journal cards, ephemera and stamped lots of beachy images using the Under the Sea Stamp set from 7 Gypsies. The page edges were inked, and the pages themselves were spritzed, painted or drawn on with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 08a

I cut 6 sheets of kraft cardstock in half, scored them at 6″ on the long side then stitched them together up the middle to create the journal pages. These were glued into the spine, then tied with natural white twisted hemp rope. I hand wrote lines from John Masefield’s beautiful poem, “Sea Fever” throughout the book, leaving lots of room for photos and journaling.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 09a

The small stamps and torn edges make this book feel like it just came out of an old sea chest.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 10a

The white pigment ink stamped onto the natural kraft paper let’s the stamp designs stand out beautifully.
Natural Nautical Journal CCB 11a

Adding mini ephemera pieces to various pages gives just the right touch.Natural Nautical Journal CCB 12a

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 13a

Create a pocket using the 5″x7″ journal pages and slip in ephemera and the smaller journal pages in place.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 14a

Adding touches of nature to your book like this found leaf.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 15a

The B&W Maritime Tags are the perfect starting place to add color, distress or mist to make them match your project. The vintage nautical art pieces are transformed to match the neutral colors in the book.

Natural Nautical Journal CCB 16a

Creating a tattered, worn album like this is easy when you have such inspirational products to work with. I think I used just about every item in the Maritime collection from 7 Gypsies in putting this together. And I can’t wait to add our family memories to the pages.

Wishing you sand between your toes and a shell in your pocket!

7 Gypsies American Vintage

7 Gypsies American Vintage Photo Crate and Travel Journal

Hello, Friends!  I don’t know about you, but I love a good road trip!  There’s something magical about waking up in the pre-dawn darkness and packing suitcases, snacks  and people into the car for a far away destination.  I have such great memories of car trips we took with our kids when they were small: the silly songs we sang, playing the Alphabet game, I Spy, counting cows, roadside picnics and even the bathroom breaks were fun.  So, I am super excited to share today’s project with you!  I’ve been busy working with 7 Gypsies American Vintage Collection…which was just released this week…and I have made the most fun travel journal ever!  It’s vintage, and funky, and fun, and interactive …and it’s in a photo crate!  How awesome is that????

Kathy by Design/7 Gypsies American Vintage Photo Crate

Kathy by Design/7 Gypsies American Vintage Photo Crate

This darling little photo crate measures 4″ x 6″ x 4″ so it’s the perfect size for holding photos, souvenirs, maps and all kinds of bits and bobs.  I changed the finish on mine by treating it to a light coat of Picket Fence Distress Paint and then lightly brushing it with Tattered Angels Roses R Red Glimmer Glam.  I wanted it to be the same color as an old barn on the side of a country road.  How’d I do?

American Vintage Crate 03aI used just about every single element found in this collection…and some besides…to fill up my crate with fun file folders, ephemera, journal notes, and papers. On the front of the crate, the borders from “Go and See” and “States I Visited” were used to decorate the slats.  I topped this off with the Road Trip book knob and a bunch of gears.

American Vintage Crate 04aYou know how when you are in the car, there’s something to see no matter what direction you look?  Well, I designed this crate so that no matter which side faces forward, there is a nice view to be had.  On the back of the crate, I created a happy little banner with denim and burlap from the famous scrap packs that are filled to bursting with fabric, burlap, paper and cord.  I hand cut my little banner pieces, then sewed them onto a piece of natural sisal roping and topped them with more gears. They are held in place with a jaunty pair of antique silver vintage clips. That great vintage truck is from the ephemera pack.  The crumpled road maps were fussy cut from the 8×8 paper pack.  I know nobody uses maps any more, but I kind of miss them…and this is how ours always ended up  looking after having been folded and refolded time and time again!

American Vintage Crate 05aI tinted a 2″ x 2″ stretched natural canvas with Blue Ribbon Chalkboard Mist, topped it with a fringed burlap square, another gear (that makes me think of a steering wheel) and some cut out words from the totally fun “Across the USA” 12×12 paper. American Vintage Crate 03bBoth short ends of the crate received a little ribbon treatment with Red Center Stitched Burlap Ribbon and a vintage button. You can also see another great ephemera bit here….I love these replicas of route signs!

American Vintage Crate 07aThere’s nothing but fun inside the crate!  On the right, I salvaged the gear package to make a really fun tag that looks like a vintage luggage tag.  On the left is one of the file folders that I loaded up with fabric and ephemera and then stuffed with the hilarious “Are We There Yet?” journal tag.  You will get quite a chuckle from the sayings because I guarantee, you’ve heard them all before.  And, this is a quick, easy way to document a trip.  Just fill it out and put it in the file folder along with photos, menus, and other great memorabilia.

American Vintage Crate 09aThe vintage photos on the “Go and See” 12×12 page are perfect for creating a quick card, journal page or in this case, a divider for the crate.  I made each divider the same way: cut a 5.75″ piece of Kraft C-Flute, paint with Roses R Red or Blue Ribbon paint, and top with one of the photo squares from the paper.  I added stitching, distressing, buttons and even stamped a compass on the paper.  The red cording adds great texture, as does the clothespin.

American Vintage Crate 10aI lined the back side of the C-Flute with paper from the double sided American Stamps paper. I love these bold stripes.  I cut a thumb hole in the top and did not glue the top edge down, creating a pocket for photos.  The 4″ x 6″ vintage post cards were scored, folded and turned into little journal notes.

American Vintage Crate 11a

American Vintage Crate 12aI like that the file folders can be used horizontally or vertically.  This makes for a great look in the crate and gives you lots of options for designing.  Here, I mounted another of the border strips on a scrap of C-Flute and tucked a Travel Log notecard into the pocket.  I found these vintage keys in my stash, and thought they looked great with this line.  You could easily pre-load your crate with folders and dividers and then fill in the cards as you go…a great way to keep the kids engaged with the trip.

American Vintage Crate 13a

These letters were fussy cut from the 8×8 pad and matted onto a journal page that I splashed and splattered with Glimmer Mist.

American Vintage Crate 14aHere’s the red barn that was the inspiration for this project along with some more fussy cut mini ephemera.

American Vintage Crate 15a

American Vintage Crate 16aAmerican Vintage Crate 17aI made a handy little notebook to tuck into the crate by stitching papers into one of the file folders.  Don’t you love the vintage telephone dial?  Ask your kids or grandkids if they know what this is….that could lead to a really fun conversation!

American Vintage Crate 18aHere’s the inside of the file folder.  I love that these are decorated inside and out, making them reversible.

So, that’s my 7 Gypsies American Vintage Photo Crate and travel journal.  Doesn’t it just make you want to hit the road and go someplace?  I’ll bring the snacks!

Thanks for stopping by,

Cheerio,

kathy
