Nuts About Fall Easel Card

Amazing Paper Grace October 2021 Die of the Month Autumn Card by Kathy Clement Photo 01

Nuts About Fall Easel Card with Amazing Paper Grace October 2021 Die of the Month

Hello, Friends!  Are you Nuts About Fall?  I sure am, especially when I get to work with cute squirrel images, gorgeous plaids and the fabulous Amazing Paper Grace October 2021 Die of the Month.  What a grand time I had pairing this gorgeous die up with papers from the Country Craft Creations Autumn Orchard Paper Collection.

Simple Layers and Sumptuous Embellishments

Although this card looks complicated, it’s actually very simple to pull together.

  • First, create a 7 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ easel card base from kraft cardstock.
  • Next, mat a 5 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ panel of the vintage truck foliage on a slightly larger panel of chocolate brown cardstock.
  • Then mat a 6 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of the autumn plaid pattern on a slightly larger panel of the same chocolate brown paper.
  • Now mat all these layers onto a 7 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ panel of copper metallic cardstock.
  • Next cut the squirrel image from the 8×8 cut apart page and mat on chocolate brown and copper layers.  Back with a double layer of dimensionals and set aside.
  • Then die cut the APG DOM from copper metallic cardstock.  YOu will use just the filigree frame.
  • Now die cut the center oval from the inside piece that was left from die cutting the frame. Set this aside.
  • Finally, arrange all the pieces as seen in the photo with pretty fall flowers, string bows, fall leaves and Printed Beautiful Board from Reneabouquets.  (Links below.)
Finishing Details

Every easel card needs a brake, or a stopper that holds the easel portion of the card upright.  I like to use the interior pocket for this purpose.  Decorate it with the die cut center oval and more pretty flowers and a felt pumpkin.

A Peek  Inside

You can see here how the pocket doubles as the brake for the easel.  I tucked in a little blank sentiment panel and an autumn tea bag to elevate the card to gift status.

Hooray! It’s Your Birthday Gift Box

Authentique Hooray Birthday Box Amazing Paper Grace Telephone Vignette Die by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Authentique Hooray!  It’s Your Birthday Box with APG Telephone Vignette Die

Hello, Friends!  Do you love little boxes?  I have loved them for as long as I can remember, so making this Hooray It’s Your Birthday Box was loads of fun.  My L’il Sis is having a birthday this month, and she loves boxes, too.  This one is filled with lots of little goodies that I think will make her chuckle.  Then, when the goodies are gone she can use the box to store stuff on her work desk.  I love it when a gift just keeps on giving!

Building the Box

Here’s how the box came together:

  • First, cover the lid of an I-Phone box with papers from Authentique’s Hooray Paper Collection.
  • Then, wrap the top edge of the box with washi tape to give it a finished look.
  • Now, adhere some little box feet to the corners.
  • Die cut the Amazing Paper Grace Vignette Telephone from both Spectrum Lady Bug and Hooray patterned papers.  You will need 3 phone bases cut from patterned paper and 2 from the Lady Bug Spectrum paper.
  • Adhere the patterned papers to the Lady Bug papers so that they are slightly offset.  This creates a mat for the base and helps it to pop against the patterned papers.  You will need to cover both the front and back of the phone that is on the back side of the box.
  • Adhere the phones to the box base and fill it up with goodies!

Add ribbon and buttons to the front corners of the box if desired.

A Peek Inside

Fill the box with treats that you know the birthday girl will enjoy. I think my Sis will enjoy the little treats I tucked inside her box.

This shaker tag is so quick to make!

  • First, remove the sticker frame from the sheet and back it with clear cardstock.
  • Trace the outline of the frame onto a piece of patterned paper and trim out.
  • Then add 3 layers of 1/8″ foam strips to the back of the sticker.
  • Fussy cut the sentiment from the 3 x 4 image card.  Save the sassy lady…we’ll use her elsewhere!
  • Mat the fussy cut sentiment on the piece of patterned paper you cut out.
  • Fill the shaker cavity with sequins and beads, then adhere the patterned paper tag over the foam strips.  Press lightly to seal.
  • Trim out the birthday banner from another 3×4 card and adhere.
  • Punch a hole at the top of the tag, add ribbon and a flower.

My sis and I both love tea, so I added this tin of tea to her birthday box along with a little chocolate.  Dressing these little gifts up with designer paper and ribbon really makes them special!

This is a packet of Biscoff cookies to go with the tea.  Create the little birthday wand with a washi tape wrapped popsicle stick and stickers that have been matted on Lady Bug Spectrum Cardstock.

Snarky Birthday Card

The final addition is a little 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ top fold card made with scraps.  I’m crazy for this retro color combination…how about you?

Die cut circles and stars really work with this paper collection.  I can’t wait to give this gift to my sister!

I hope I’ve shared some tips, tricks and ideas you can use in your next crafty adventure.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace July 2020 Club Kit Fanfare Card My Mind's Eye Gingham Gardens by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace July 2020 Club Kit Reveal: Good Day Card Folio

Hello, Friends!  It’s time to share my Spellbinder’s Amazing Paper Grace July 2020 Club Kit Reveal with you.  If you are a lover of Amazing Paper Grace intricate swirled dies, you are going to be thrilled with the kit this month!  I know I am!

The Fanfare Die Kit come with 8 die templates.  You’ll find the frame, insert, aperture, and detail dies along with 4 cinch and go petal layers.  These petite Cinch and Go dies make the sweetest little posies when cut from scraps of your designer paper!

Creating the Card Base

Pair the Fanfare Die Templates up with Gingham Gardens from My Mind’s Eye.  They play together beautifully!  Here’s how to build the layers of this 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ top told card.

  • First, cut 2 5 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ panels for the cardstock base.  Score the long side of one panel at 7 1/4″  and 7 3/4″.
  • Now fold along the score lines to create a card front with a 1/2″ spine.
  • Adhere the 3/4″ flap on this panel on the back side of the other 5  1/4″ x 8 1/2″ panel to create a top fold card base.
  • Score the inside of the card at 7 1/4″.  Then fold the flap to create a shallow pocket.
Creating the Card Layers

  • First, cut a 5″ x 7″ panel of the diagonal check paper on a 5 1/8″ x 7 1/8″ panel of cream cardstock.
  • Next, cut a 7″ x 3″ belly band from the pink and cream plaid paper.
  • Now machine stitch around the perimeter , if desired.
  • Mat a 4″ x 6″ panel of the floral design paper on a slightly larger cream mat.
  • Cut a banner flag with the die from the June 2020 Club Kit.  Cut in half and adhere behind the left hand side of the panel.
  • Then adhere the ephemera piece behind the lower right hand edge of the panel.
  • Machine stitch the layers together.
  • Now back this panel with dimensionals and adhere in the center of the larger panel.
The Fanfare Dies

  • Die cut the the Fanfare Frame, Insert and Aperture die from cream cardstock.  Place 1/8″ foam strips on the back side of the die.  Adhere in the center of the floral panel.
  • Now use the aperture die to cut the sentiment from a 3″ x 4″ journal card.  Back with 3 layers of dimensionals and adhere in the aperture of the Fanfare die.
  • Place dimensionals on the backs of the birds and prim house ephemera bits and adhere.
  • Glue the pink chipboard heart in the center of the sentiment panel.
Cinch and Go Flowers and Finishing Touches

Die cut the Cinch and Go flower layers from scraps of your patterned papers. Shape them slightly with a ball stylus.  Layer together, making sure you stagger the petal edges.  Insert pearl stamens in the flower centers, then arrange in a semi circle around the sentiment panel.  Tuck in some foliage, add a bow and some buttons to complete the card front.

A Peek Inside

The inside of the card features a shallow pocket with a tea wallet, honey stick and a note card.  The top half of the card is a photo folio with a magnetic closure.

Die cut 2 of the detail templates to create the decoration for the front of the folio.

TIP: Make the details of these Fanfare dies pop by running them through your die cut machine a second time with the embossing mat.

The folio has room for several photos as well as a little tag/gift card pocket.

Create the tags from your scraps, then top with ribbon, mini keys and twine bows.

Spellbinders Club Kits May 2020 Blog Hop: Amazing Paper Grace Fleur Di Lis Grandeur Fold Over with Simple Stories Vintage Garden District

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Spellbinders Club Kits May 2020 Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from  Desiree’s  blog.   Today I’m sharing a Simple Stories Vintage Garden District card made with the Amazing Paper Grace Fleur de Lis Grandeur Fold Over Dies.  This elegant die set is the APG Club kit for May, and it is glorious!

Building the Card Layers

Build these card layers by following these simple steps:

  • First, prepare a 6″ x 6″ card base from cream cardstock.
  • Next, cover the card front with a 6″ x 6″ panel of gold foil paper.
  • Now, place the Fleur de Lis Grandeur Frame over a 6″ x 6″ piece of teal cardstock from the Simple Stories Simple Basics cardstock pack.
  • Then use washi tape to secure the (4) Fold Over inserts inside the frame.
  • Run the die through your machine following  manufacturer instructions, then adhere to the gold foil background.

  • Next, cut a panel of  designer paper from the collection with the Inner Square Outline Die.  Mat this on a slightly larger panel of gold foil cardstock.
  • Now place the Inner Square Pattern die on a piece of gold foil paper.  Center the Inner Square Label die and secure with washi tape before running through your die cut machine.
  • Place 1/8″ foam adhesive on the sides of the die cut and center over the patterned paper so that the pink flowers peek through.
Finishing Touches

  • Now create a burlap string wreath and place over the center opening.
  • Then select a teal butterfly from the Vintage Garden District papers.  Place foam adhesive in the center of the butterfly, lift the wings and adhere in the center of the wreath.
  • Next tie a large loopy bow with Iridescent ribbon and adhere in the right hand corner of the card.
  • Now select flowers and foliage and adhere around the card as seen in the photo.
  • Then locate “The Simple Life” banner.  Gently round it against the side of a pencil.  Adhere just the ends to the card base to create a dimensional banner in the lower left hand corner of the card.
  • Finally, adhere cream pearls to finish the card front.
A Peek Inside

Finish the inside of your card with more designer papers .  Then die cut 2 of the Fold Over Inserts from scraps of your gold cardstock.  Adhere these to create a little treat pocket.

This is such a pretty way to present a little chocolate treat inside the card.

Tuck a little tea bag wallet and a journal card into the larger pocket. Write your personal greeting or add a photo to the journal card.  Tuck a honey stick inside the pocket to go with the tea bag, if desired.  I find these honey sticks at our local farmer’s market.
