Loaded Sweetheart Envelope Tea Party in a Box Folio

Hello, Friends! Today I have a Loaded Sweetheart Envelope Tea Party in a Box to share with you.  This is yet another way to use the Amazing Paper Grace Sweetheart Envelope and Notecard dies.  (You can find my previous projects HERE.)I’m having so much fun with this beautiful and versatile die that I can’t seem to stop playing with it!  It keeps calling my name, and I keep answering!  I hope y’all are not tired of seeing it yet, because I am definitely not tired of playing with it!

Loaded Sweetheart Envelope

Spellbinders Loaded Sweetheart Envelope and Notecard Die-Echo Park Winter-Tea Party in a Box-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

How fun is this loaded envelope?  It is such a quick and easy way to add a surprise focal image to a card!  If you look closely, you’ll see that this loaded envelope has 2 compartments.  How did I do this?  It’s actually quite simple:

  • First, die cut the basic envelope from grey cardstock using the largest die in the set.
  • Next, die cut the filigree liner from the same grey cardstock.
  • Then die cut contrasting patterned paper using just the liner die without the filigree insert.  Adhere this to the “peak” of the envelope as seen in the photo.
  • Now, fold the envelope on the scored lines and secure the tabs inside the pocket.
  • Next, die cut just the curved front of the envelope from complementary patterned paper.  I just cut a small square of patterned paper, lined the die up and secured it with Post-It tape, and then ran it through the machine.  Adhere gussets to the sides and bottom of this piece and glue it down as a pocket on top of a pocket.
  • Now die cut the heart base from contrasting cardstock and mat the grey filigree heart on top as the decoration on your envelope.

Mat designer paper from Echo Park Winter Mega Pad on soft blue cardstock, then machine stitch around the edges.  Adhere this over a 5 3/4″ square of the plaid pattern that has been stitched to another panel of the same cardstock.   Now add a sparkly snowflake and a handmade flower and layer this whole mess of goodness up on your card front.

What’s in the Loaded Pocket?

I was hoping you would ask that!  Create a little notecard with one of the 3×3 images from the paper collection and tuck that inside the front pocket.  Then make a little mini folio with the 3×3 images and tuck that in the larger pocket.

Good things really do come in small packages!  This little book has 4 pages and a center side pocket.  How fun would it be to add small photos of the kids or the pets playing in the snow here?

Create a cute tag with another image and scraps of cardstock, and add this to the larger pocket along with the mini book.  Score a row of the small images, accordion fold, insert in a memo pin and then stick that in the corner of the envelope.  Isn’t this fun?

A Peek Inside

The inside of this Tea Party in a Box folio is as fun as the outside.  In addition to the tea party, I created a little photo album on the top of the card.  This has a magnetic closure to keep everything neat and tidy.

The accordion pull-out has (5) 5 1/2″ square panels, so lots of room for great photos.  Create the mechanism by joining (2)  5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ panels of cardstock and scoring every 5 1/2″.  Tuck the small flap behind the base page at the top of the card folio.

The magnetic closure tucks behind the base page on the opposite side of the card.  Create even more space for photos by adding a flap page to one of the panels.

You can add little tip ins and even a side pocket for even more winter fun!

Tea Party in a Box

Winter is a tough time for a lot of folks, so it’s nice to create a cheery surprise gift like this one to brighten up the days.  Do you spy the cute notecard made with the same Sweetheart die?  I’m telling you friends, this is one dynamic die!

I wonder what I’ll make next with this sweet die?  Whatever it is, I’ll be sure to share it with you!

Enjoy your weekend, make time to play with paper, and stay cozy!

Tiara Trifold Slimline Card with Graphic 45 Cottage Life

Spellbinders Tiara Trifold Graphic 45 Cottage Life Slimline Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

My project for the hop is this Tiara Trifold Slimline Card.  This month’s Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month is just lovely and truly versatile!  Here’s how to use it on a slimline card.

  • First, lay out all the die pieces on a piece of white cardstock.
  • Next, run the die through your die cutting  machine using the sandwich recommended.
  • Now, repeat the process.
  • Trim about 2″ off the bottom edge of each die cut.
  • Adhere the die cuts on either end of an 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ slimline card base.
  • Place the focal image in the center of the card and add embellishments.

Here’s a peek at the inside:

Add a small pocket inside the card, then tuck in a gift card wallet.  Easy and elegant!

It makes a gorgeous gift box!  You can find more details on this project HERE.

On this card, I cut the die in half to make it longer. The I placed it behind my focal image.  Then I built my flower arrangement around it.

TIP: Create a little tip in feature on your tag for extra fun.  Instead of cutting along the perforated line, cut about 2″ over from it to form a little flap.  Then trim the top of the flap so that it lines up with the bottom of the filigree.

Here’s a peek at the inside of the tag.

G 45 Alice’s Tea Party Shaker Easel Card Tutorial for Make & Take Tuesday

Hello, Friends!  Its Make & Take Tuesday, and I’m excited to share this Graphic 45 Alice’s Tea Party Shaker Easel Card Tutorial with you.  Isn’t it fun?  I’ve used the Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace March 2022 Die of the Month, some goodies from Reneabouquets, and a Buttons Galore Shaker Mix to bring this project to life.  Today’s tutorial will give you the basics for making the card base, introduce you to this lovely new die set, show you how to make the shaker window, and we’ll also have another flower making session together.  So let’s get this party started!

It’s Time for Tea!

Are you loving the Amazing Paper Grace Bella Ovalette Die as much as I am?  It works perfectly as a shaker frame, as I’ve done here…but it can also be used with its other components to create detailed layering pieces.

See these sweet little posies?  Learn how to make them in the video tutorial below.  And how about this dapper White Rabbit Beautiful Board from Reneabouquets?  He’s saying, “It’s Time for Tea!”

Speaking of tea, look at these darling teacups and teapot charms!  It’s always so much fun to add just the right embellishments to a project!

A Peek Inside

Of course, if you’re going to make an easel card, you have to create a stopper or brake.  This gorgeous fabric flower lace from Reneabouquets does the job perfectly.

And, it you’re going to make a tea themed card, you have to include some tea and treats inside the card, right?

If you’d like to see how this sweet card was created, I hope you’ll enjoy the tutorial on YouTube.  I’ve captioned in the measurements for you to make it easier to follow along.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Make & Take Tuesday.  You can find a linked supply list below this post.  And if you’d like to add this card to your shopping cart, it is available in my Etsy shop.

Home of the Brave Easel Card

Photoplay America the Beautiful Easel Card by Kathy Clement Photo 01 Home of the Brave Easel Card with Amazing Paper Grace July 2021 DOM

Hello, Friends!  Let’s kick of the month of July with a red, white and blue Home of the Brave Easel Card.  How much do we love the Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Club Kit this month?  This Mini House Vignette Die has endless possibilities!  I’ve paired it up with some great vintage patterns from Photo Play’s America the Beautiful Collection.  It’s Americana Home Décor for all seasons, but especially appropriate for Independence Day.

Instead of creating the pop up box, I simply die cut the pieces from patterned paper and cut the trims from copper metallic paper to create this dimensional scene.  Patriotic Star Sparkletz burst from the center of the fireworks display in the sky.   Create a welcome mat for the front door by layering the “welcome” die cut over a scrap of copper metallic paper.

Adorn the stopper of the card with faded blue flowers, berries and bright red ribbon.  Cut the sentiment from the center of a 4″ x 6″ journal card, pop it up on dimensionals and this little card is ready to be displayed.

A Peek Inside

The stopper for this card is actually a pocket.  Create a mini gift card wallet from paper scraps.  My mom always used to send our kids some ice cream money for the 4th of July, and that’s a tradition I’m happy to carry on.  Stickers from the paper collection decorate the card interior.

Spellbinders May 2021 Club Kits Blog Hop: Vignette Garden Gate Morning Glories

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Spellbinders May 2021 Club Kits Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from  Amanda’s  lovely blog.  Today I’m featuring the Amazing Paper Grace Vignette Garden Gate and the Clear Stamp of the Month.   Morning Glories welcome you to open this charming gate and step inside for a refreshing glass of iced tea.

Farmhouse Garden Gate Tips and Tricks

Patterned papers and images from Simple Stories Simple Vintage Farmhouse Garden collection provide the perfect setting for this dimensional garden gate.  You’ll be happy to know that this gate came together quickly and easily.  Here’s how:

  • First, die cut 2 gates from cream cardstock.
  • Next, adhere the gates together to provide extra strength.
  • Now, gently round the gate by rolling it over the barrel of a marker to create a curve.
  • Then place 1/8″ foam adhesive strips on the left and right hand fence posts.
  • Adhere the posts to the card front one at a time.  After the first post has been adhered you can gently push the opposite post toward the center of the gate to create the curve.

Now you can tie a bow through the front of the gate, add flowers, butterflies and other embellishments to finish the design.

Making the Morning Glories

Would you like to know my secret tip for making the flowers on this card?

  • First, die cut a whole bunch of flower and leaf layers from scraps of cream cardstock.
  • Next, place the leaves and flower layers  in separate containers.  I used shallow recycled plastic snack containers for this.  (Smart Balance Snacks work great.)
  • Now, place a drop of Distress re-inker in the plastic container and spray in a bit of water.  You need just enough water to create a small puddle.
  • Next, tip the container around to color the leaves and flower layers.
  • Then fold paper towels and tip the colored leaves and flowers out to dry.
  • Shape the leaves by running a small ball stylus up the center.  Then shape the flowers by poking the center with a small ball stylus.  This will lift the petals and cup the flowers.
  • Now layer the flowers together with a dot of adhesive.  Then place Dries Clear Adhesive in the cup of each flower and sprinkle in a few Prills.
A Peek Inside

Create an envelope pocket inside the card. Then mat a 3×4 card from the paper collection on matching cardstock.  Thread a ribbon through the top and tuck inside the envelope pocket.    Now stamp a sentiment from the stamp set on patterned paper.  I love the fonts, tiny florals and sentiments in this set!  They are perfect for cardmaking!
