Down on the Farm Seasonal Wreath

My inspiration project this month is this warm and cozy greeting card folio. I’ve combined the Autumn Wreath Accents Seasonal Wreath Dies with sunny patterns from the Down on the Farm Paper Pad. This was such a fun and easy card to make, thanks to a few sneaky tricks!

First, cut your flowers, owls, apples, pumpkins and foliage direct from the paper pad. The Autumn Wreath Accent Dies line up perfectly with the images in the pad. There’s no stamping and no coloring involved. What a time saver!

Next, cut 2 layers of the seasonal wreath from green patterned paper on the reverse side of the Down on the Home paper pad. Once again, no need to stamp or color. Place 1/8″ foam strips between the two wreath layers to create plenty of depth and dimension.

Now swipe some Distress Ink (Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin and Tea Dye) on a non–stick craft sheet. Spritz the ink with a mister bottle until small beads of color form. Then swipe or tap the die cut flowers and foliage into the ink to add a little custom coloring. It only takes a second, and it looks sooo good!

Finally, layer the flower petals together and fill the centers with Gourd-Jus Prills. Then add dots of Dries Clear Adhesive to the wheat and sprinkle with I’m A-Maized Prills to add extra texture.

Now you can have fun building the layers on your prepared wreath. It’s just like flower arranging, only with paper!

A Peek Inside

It’s easy to add a pocket to the bottom half of your card. Simply cut your paper panel about 2 1/2″ longer than the size of your card base. Then score the paper, fold at the score line and add gussets to the sides to form a pocket. The top half of the card becomes a mini folio. We’ll talk about that in a minute.

Pockets provide a great spot to tuck in a little tea wallet, honey stick, mini folio and vintage demitasse spoon.

Here’s how to create the mini folio on the top of the card.

First, cut a liner for the top of the card. Since my card is 6×6, I cut my liner to measure 5 3/4″ square.

Next, score a 1/2″ flap on the left hand side of 2 more panels of Down on the Farm paper. Fold the flaps behind the liner paper and glue onto the card base. Dress up a paper clip with a banner flag cut from a scrap of pretty paper. You can add a little pocket and tag behind one of the flap pages as I did here. or, you can leave the page blank for a photo.

These quick and easy additions to a card turn it into a wonderful gift.
