Time to Flourish August Banner of the Month Tutorial

Graphic 45 Time to Flourish August Banner of the Month Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Well, here we are near the end of July, so it’s time to share our G45 Time to Flourish August Banner of the Month Tutorial.  The August papers in this collection have always been my very favorite.  Sunflowers  and shades of aqua mimic a summer garden under a blue sky.

If you are new to this year-long series, you can find the January-July banner tutorials HERE.

This month’s banner has 7 pennants, so it’s fairly long.  You’ll find a sweet little ATC tag pennant at each end.

I decided to mix and match pennant shapes because I like the visual contrast.  Three of the pennants are made with Eileen Hull’s Sizzix Stitchlets House/Pocket Dies.

Then I decided to add a couple of Kraft Regular Tags because I love the dome shape, and the opportunity to add cute charms to the banner.

The pennants are stitched onto thick grosgrain ribbon topped with burlap striped ribbon.

Gorgeous butterflies from Reneabouquets look so real, and add wonderful detail to the design.

Vintage buttons from my stash are threaded with yellow to keep with the aqua/yellow color palette.

Of course, no banner is complete with out a floral bow cluster and a bit of twine, don’t  you agree?

Time to Flourish July Banner of the Month

Graphic 45 Time to Flourish July Banner of the Month Tutorial for Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!  If you guessed that I would be sharing our Graphic 45 Time to Flourish July Banner of the Month Tutorial today, please give yourself a pat on the back!  Because that is precisely what we are doing!  Welcome to Throwback Thursday, and the 6th Banner of the Month Tutorial for 2023.

We started this series with the February Time to Flourish Banner. Several of  you requested a Banner of the Month tutorial in 2023, and it really has been fun for me and I hope for you as well!  Now we’re all the way up to July!  The year is speeding right along.  So grab a cuppa and a snack and let’s take a peek at this month’s banner.

Shades of Red, White and Blue

Graphic 45 -Time to Flourish -July Banner of the Month -Tutorial -Kathy Clement Kathy by Design

I simply could not create a July banner without a nod to the Red, White and Blue!  This sweet banner has a gardening theme, but it will work well for my US friends as patriotic home decor, too.

The pennants this month are Graphic 45 Square Ivory tags.  Stitched onto 1 1/2″ wide red plaid ribbon and topped with vintage lace, they hang with the dome end at the bottom.  This makes for a very quick and easy construction.  Simply use the G45 Square Tag Die to cut the liner for each tag.  Then cut a 4 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ rectangle of designer paper, round the corners and stitch to the tag base. Next, cut the July Flourish papers with a stitched oval die and you’re nearly finished.

The large pennants are flanked by small ATC laser cut tags.  I’ve dressed these up with some Reneabouquets laser cut doilies and a little charm dangle.

This garden themed banner is filled with pretty florals, flirty butterflies and cute charms like this miniature spade and watering can.

Oh, hello, ladybug clothespin!

Stitch some vintage navy blue buttons onto the lace border for a little pop of color and shine.  And, top that tiny chipboard charm with  a sweet strawberry and strawberry blossom charm to give it more of a presence.

Hello, Friends!  Believe it or not, it’s time to share our June 2023 Banner Tutorial!  Once again we’re using the June papers from Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish 12×12 and 8×8 paper pads. We’ll dress it up with some lovely Reneabouquets printed beautiful board. And, I’m changing things up a bit this month with the addition of Annette Green’s Elizabeth Craft Designs Everything’s Blooming collection.  Sound like fun?  Well, grab a cuppa and a snack and let’s get this Throwback Thursday post rolling.

If you are new to the blog, you might like to know that we are sharing a Banner of the Month tutorial each month during 2023.  You can find the previous banner tutorials HERE.

Birdies and Butterflies

The month of June is all about birdies and butterflies, and you will find them on this banner everywhere you look !  From the itty bitty Reneabouquets Mason Jar butterfly, to the glitter glass butterflies they flit around amongst the flowers.  Then, there are Annette’s Everything’s Blooming birdies.  Cut from designer paper and used as a silhouette form, they are extra sweet.

The birds are happily perched on a flowering branch resting above Reneabouquets April in Paris doilies.

The Shaker Element

Reneabouquets Shaker Frame

I’ve used one of my favorite Reneabouquets Frames on the center pennant.  By cutting an acetate circle to fit the back of the frame, I was able to turn it into a shaker element.

When you watch the tutorial, you’ll see how I repeated the themes to create a sort of story line for the banner.  This might be my favorite banner so far this year, but then you know how much I love birds and butterflies!

May Banner of the Month Tutorial

May Banner of the Month Tutorial with Reneabouquets and Graphic 45 Time to Flourish

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for our May Banner of the Month Tutorial?  May????  Already????  Sure enough, we will be turning the calendar page in just a couple of weeks.  I’m not trying to rush the year, but I do like to give you enough time to get each month’s banner made before the new month rolls around.

If you are new to this series, you can find the previous tutorials HERE. Once again, we will be working with Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish collection and paper pretties from Reneabouquets.

Dreamy Dragonflies

The theme for this month’s banner is dragonflies and May flowers.  Since the color palette of the May Time to Flourish papers is heavy on the purples, I decided to accent our banner with purple and white flowers, floral lace trim, and lots of pretty dragonflies.

Because I like variety, the banner this month uses a combination of small banner pieces placed between Graphic 45 Square Ivory Tags.  Each pennant features a springtime vignette.

Stitch your pennants between wide ribbon and pretty lace trim.  The square tags hang upside down which lets us hang a pretty dangle charm from the grommets.

Even though these die cut pennants are ATC sized, you can still create a lovely scene with border pieces, postage stamps, dragonflies and flowers.  And how much do we love this vintage lace?  Ooh la la!

The Shaker Frame

Create a strong focal image on the pennant in the center of the banner.  I chose to create a shaker frame using this lovely Reneabouquets Violet frame.  It’s the perfect color match for the paper collection, and so perfectly vintage.

Don’t be afraid to repeat a design on these smaller pennants.  Simply stagger the elements in a different direction to create a sense of symmetry.

I could not resist adding this sweet resin nest to the banner.  It’s a design that’s featured in the paper collection, and it works so well with our sweet Flower Fairy image.

From beginning to end, each pennant has something pretty to see.  What fun I had putting this one together for you!

April Banner of the Month Tutorial

Graphic 45 April Banner of the Month Tutorial-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design-

April Banner of the Month Tutorial with Graphic 45 Time to Flourish and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  It’s Throwback Thursday, and I’m here with our April Banner of the Month Tutorial.  We started this through the year series with our February Banner, then last month we got our March Banner made.  Now it’s time to get ready for Easter with tulips, chicks, butterflies and spring flowers.

Even if there’s still snow in your part of the world (I’m truly sorry if that is the case) this sweet banner will make it feel like springtime inside your home.  I thought about Easter eggs when I was choosing the color palette for this banner.  It reminds me so much of the old Pas Easter Egg dying kits I had when I was a kid.

TIP #1: Choose a wide (1 1/2″) ribbon and fold it over the tops of the banner pennants.  Then top it with some beautiful white crochet lace.  Hold the layers together with binder clips as you stitch across the top.  Then turn the banner and stitch along the bottom edge of the lace to make everything nice and secure.

Put on Your Easter Bonnet

TIP #2 : Combine fussy cut images from the 12×12 papers with die cut layers, flowers, butterflies and little tags. Pop individual layers up with foam tabs or waste chipboard to add extra dimension.

TIP #3:  Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful board is a perfect color match with this paper collection.

TIP #4: Mix and match pastel spring flowers to achieve that Easter Egg Basket or Jelly Bean color palette.  It’s a great way to use up leftover flowers from previous projects.

TIP #5: Tie Baker’s Twine bows between each pennant and top with a vintage style button

TIP #6: Cover Ivory ATC tags with the G45 ATC Tag Die, then hang vintage keys and enamel flowers from the grommet on the bottom for extra fun.
