Ciao Bella Morning in Provence Birthday Card Tutorial of the Month May 2024

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and this Ciao Bella Morning in Provence Birthday Card Tutorial of the Month is our project for this week.  I’ve never been to Provence, but working with these lovely papers is almost as good as being there.  Everything about this collection is feminine, shabby chic and full of peaceful, relaxing colors, patterns and images.  I like it so much that I’ve decided to use the collection in my September card kit for Button Farm Club.

Easier Than You Think

Are you familiar with that old saying: “Yard by yard life is hard, but inch by inch it’s a cinch.”?  The basic design here is very simple and straightforward. You will see that in the video tutorial.  It’s the embellishments and layers that take it to the next level.

Lovely butterflies, flowers, beads and beautiful board from Reneabouquets add interesting details. We will add these elements one at a time in the video tutorial.  I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to  learn that this card is easier to make than you might think. Yes, there is a lot going on in this card.  But none of it is hard to do.

A Peek Inside

Birthdays offer lots of opportunity for capturing great memories with photographs.  So I decided to build a little photo folio inside this card.  This turns the card into a real keepsake that can be enjoyed for years to come.

And if there is a birthday, you have to have a few presents!  So I created a sweet little bookmark, magnet and journal card to tuck into the pretty pocket.

TIP:  Cut a panel of paper to fit the inside of your card.  Then trim a piece from the bottom to line the pocket face.  This allows you to enjoy the entire image, and makes an almost hidden pocket design.  Try it!

March 2024 Birthday Card of the Month Tutorial with Stamperia Romance Forever

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for our March 2024 Birthday Card of the Month Tutorial?  This is our third BCOM tutorial in 2024.  You can find the January and February BCOM tutorials HERE and HERE.

Have you seen Stamperia Romance Forever yet?  It came out around Valentine’s Day.  If you love shabby chic, pastels and gorgeous florals, I think you’re going to really enjoy working with this collection.  I know I thoroughly enjoyed creating this bookmark in a pocket card folio, and I hope you will, too.

Soft Spring Florals

Pastel shades of lilac, pink, rose and cream make this collection perfect for a spring time birthday card.  I could not resist cutting around the edges of this gorgeous floral clock image.

Next, stitch the image to a slightly larger panel of the crocheted lace doily pattern from the 8×8 paper pad.  Leave an opening you so can tuck a bookmark into the pocket, and now you have a gift.

TIP: Don’t forget to use the artwork on the front cover of these beautiful paper collections.  Trim out the sample panel of the floral border, stitch it to a slightly larger panel of lavender cardstock, back it with lace and you’ve made a really pretty bookmark.

A Peek Inside

Flaps and pockets really help to make a card special.  Score an 8″ x 6 7/8″ panel of patterned paper at 4 3/4″ .  Fold on the scored line and you have a flap page in no time!  Dress up the front of the flap with a stamped sentiment, pretty frame and a chipboard turn tab.

Add a 4″ x 3″ panel of pink cardstock inside the flap as a sentiment spot.  By the way…is this paper gorgeous or what?

Fill the pocket with fun surprises like a lavender sachet sewn from rice paper, a little birthday tag and something special (not tea!) inside one of the cut out envelopes from the collection.

Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss

January 2024 Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  Today we’re going to create our January 2024 Birthday Card of the Month with Mintay Chocolate Kiss and some paper pretties from Reneabouquets.  Working with this scrumptious paper collection had me craving some sweet treats, let me tell you!

First, I had to decide what type of card to make.  After all, this is our very first Birthday Card of the Month tutorial.  It needs to set the tone.  Easel cards are probably my favorite fancy fold design. I never get tired of making them.  Then, I decided to tweak the basic easel card design to make it even more fun.

How?  Well, how about a bookmark pocket built into the cover of the card?  You’ll learn how to do this in the video tutorial below.

A Peek Inside

Stamped birthday sentiments from my stash,  fussy cut images, and flirty butterflies  helped dress up the card design inside and out!  The interior pocket acts as a stopper for the easel mechanism, but it also provides a lovely spot to tuck in some birthday treats!

One simply must place chocolate in a chocolate themed birthday card.  And if one is going to enjoy a bit of chocolate, it should be accompanied by a cuppa. Don’t you agree?  I also dressed up that sweet little tag with an itty bitty notecard and a surprise flap element on the back side.  All will be revealed in the video tutorial below.
