Carta Bella Botanical Garden Birthday Card Tutorial for Throwback Thursday
Hello, Friends! For this week’s episode of Throwback Thursday, I have a quick and easy Carta Bella Botanical Garden Tutorial to share with you. Dale’s sister is having a birthday in a few days. Becky is one of my favorite people on the planet. She’s funny, kind, loving and easy to be with. I don’t get to see her nearly often enough, but when we do get together, laughter is always on the menu. She loves beautiful flowers, and she has a lot of green accents in her home, so I thought this collection was a good fit for this occasion. It’s wonderful when your sister-in-law is also a friend, isn’t it?
Creating the Layers
Here’s are the measurements for this card. You can watch me make it in the video tutorial below.
- First, cut a 7 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ panel of cream cardstock. Score it in half at 5 1/2″ and fold to make a top fold card base.
- Next, cut a 7 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ panel of green cardstock.
- Then mat a 6 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ panel of the brown dot paper on a 6 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ panel of kraft cardstock. Stitich around the perimeter if desired.
- Now, cut a 6″ x 4″ mat from cream cardstock.
- Then mat a 5 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ panel of the green leaf paper on a 5 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ panel of green.
- Center and adhere all these layers on the card base.
Add a Focal Image
Now it’s time to add a beautiful focal image.
- First, cut the floral border strip to 5 3/4″ and adhere as a belly band.
- Now die cut the Spellbinders Double Halo Oval from cream cardstock.
- Then use the small oval from the die set to cut out a floral oval. Back this oval with foam tabs, center and adhere.
- Next, Fussy cut the Beautiful Day bouquet from a 3×4 card. Back with foam and adhere.
You can’t see it in this photo, but I added some Crystal Clear glitter to the greenery in the bouquet. In real life, this adds a subtle sparkle to the image. Now it’s time to add a beautiful bow. This Raw Silk Delicate Stitched Satin bow is the perfect accent for this card. Top it with a string bow and a Little Birdie Crafts Renea Moonlight flower.
A few cream pearls, a button and a little key finish things off nicely.
A Peek Inside
The inside is sweet and simple. I wanted to make something pretty…but quick. So this design and these measurements could be used with any collection, really.
The top half of the card is a 7″ x 5″ panel of green cardstock topped with a 6 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ panel of the creamy floral mix. Then I added a 6″ x 4″ image as a decoration.
The pocket on the bottom is made with a 7 1/8″ x 7 1/4″ panel of the brown dot pattern. Score 5 1/8″ and fold to make a pocket flap. Secure the pocket flap with gussets. Add a sentiment panel to the back of the 6×4 card so you can write a personal note. I will tuck in a little chocolate treat, too.
