Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Pop Up Vignette Christmas Tree

Hello, Friends!  Today I’m kicking of a whole month of Christmas projects with the November 2021 Amazing Paper Grace Pop Up Vignette Christmas Tree Die.  Like all Amazing Paper Grace dies, it can be used in more than one way.  This is why we all love Becca’s dies!

This month’s set comes with 21 dies that allow you to be as detailed as you care to be!  The nested trees can be cut with or without the dotted detail and they strategically stack so that you have successive layers rather than a flat tree.  The set also includes detail dies that look like wrapped holiday packages.  You can see them in use on Becca’s Blog.  The size of trees and embellishments make it possible to make both A7 and A2 cards with the set. But I found the trees also work beautifully as the focal on a 6×6 card.

How To Make a Stacked Christmas Tree Focal

  • First, use the largest tree die to cut out a base tree from green cardstock.
  • Next, add the detail dots die in the center of the largest die.  This time I cut a sheet of vellum to layer over the green base. Adhere this to the base tree.  Then “frost” the edges with glitter.
  • Now, use the medium tree to cut a green plaid tree.
  • Then cut a small tree from the black snowflake paper.  Once this is done, place the small filigree tree die in the center and die cut a piece of white cardstock. Glitter the filigree layer, then adhere it to the black tree.
  • Place foam spacers between the tree layers to create lots of dimension.
  • Now make a lacy background that will help the trees pop off the page.  Die cut 2 filigree inserts from Perfect Harmony Notecard Embellishment Dies.  Arrange them as seen in the photo, then adhere the trees on the top.

I love this kind of dimension on a card, don’t you?

A Peek Inside

Create a pocket to hold this cute gift card wallet inside the card base.

Just for fun, tuck a little Ghiradelli Chocolate Snowman inside the gift card wallet.

You can find out how to sign up for the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month Club HERE.  This 3D Pop Up Christmas Tree Vignette will be your first club die.

I think these would make darling Christmas Tree ornaments done up in silver, gold and white.  Wouldn’t that be fun to do with the kids?  I may have to give it a try myself!

Poinsettia Sleigh Shaker Card

Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace 3-D Pop Up Vignette Sleigh Carta Bella Christmas Delivery Shaker Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Amazing Paper Grace Poinsettia Sleigh Shaker Card with the November 2020 Die of the Month

Hello, Friends!  Let’s ring in November with this adorable APG Poinsettia Sleigh Shaker Card.  It’s going to be a whole month of holiday inspiration here at Kathy by Design, and I can’t think of a better way to get the party started!  This  7″ x 5″ top fold card is my first play with the November 2020 APG Club Kit,. But I promise  you, it won’t be my last.  This die is fun, fun, fun to use!

As is the case with all of Becca’s dies, this one is very versatile.  I love the fact that the set comes with the sweetest etched poinsettia dies and a lovely greenery filler die.  Instead of building the 3-D pop up version this time, I decided to cut the sleigh pieces from metallic cardstock and use as the focal image on top of a shaker frame.

Dashing Thru the Snow!  Poinsettia Sleigh Shaker Card Details

For this first peek, I combined the sleigh with Carta Bella’s Christmas Delivery papers.  Classic red, black and white at Christmas always makes me happy.  The shaker frame is created with Becca’s Picot Petite Ovals Die.  Rather than fill the sleigh with the poinsettias, I clustered them together on the side of the card with greenery and ribbons.  Here’s how I put the sleigh together.

  • First, cut the sleigh outline from patterned metallic paper.  This has been in my stash for years, but I never used it until now.
  • Next, cut the swirl accents from red metallic foil paper and white glitter paper.
  • Then cut the filigree front of the sleigh from red metallic paper and white glitter paper.
  • Now use 1/8″ foam strips to layer all the sleigh pieces together.  Offset the layers to create a snowy border on your sleigh.
  • Die cut the flowers from red metallic paper.  Fill the centers with beaded berry clusters.
  • Finish the card front with ribbon, jingle bells and a resin star.
Poinsettia Sleigh Shaker Card: A Peek Inside

The inside of this classic card is sweet and simple.  Create a little note card from designer paper scraps.  Line the interior with a blank sentiment panel and a decorative edge on the bottom.  Tuck it into a pocket along with a mini candy cane and a Ghiradelli Snowman treat.

TIP:  Stuck with a “not quiet long enough” cardstock scrap?  Try scoring it so that the front edge is shorter than the back edge.  This creates a great designer look!  No one will ever guess your secret unless you tell them!
