Hello, Friends!  For this week’s Make & Take Tuesday, I’m sharing a Christmas ornament made with Spellbinders Sweetheart Envelope & Notecard Set.  It’s the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the month for December 2022.  Although designed for Valentine’s Day, my mind immediately went to Christmas tree ornament.  So I pulled out Prima “Christmas in the Country” and went to work to bring my vision to  life.

Can’t you just picture these adorable little bundles hanging all over your tree?  Oh, I see so many possibilities for this clever little die set!  What about a hanging Advent Calendar with a bit of chocolate, or a tea bag, or tiny gift card inserted in each envelope? Wouldn’t that be fun?   Or, leave off the string hanger and make these as table favors for your holiday celebrations.  They would also be gorgeous done up in wedding paper (I have weddings on my mind right now!) or baby shower paper.  The possibilities are nearly endless!

Pretty Backwards and Forwards

The back side of this little envelope is as lovely as the front. First,  layer the filigree insert and frame to die cut a window in the back of the envelope base.  Then, adhere gold foil cardstock inside the envelope.  Next, glue the filigree insert outside the envelope back.  Die cut the flower petals and leaves that come with the die set to dress it up even more.  So, so cute, and very quick and easy to make!

Pretty inside and Out!

Although this precious little envelope is only 4″ x 2 3/4″ when finished, it can still hold a surprising amount of goodies. Create a little notecard using the frame die, then dress it up with scraps of designer paper.

Die cut the filigree heart and back it with woodgrain cardstock for a really sweet insert.  And an ATC tag fits perfectly inside the envelope, too!

The thing I like the best about this die is that you can use up all those itty bitty scraps of paper while making something truly beautiful.  And the die is extremely versatile.  I’ll be back on Throwback Thursday to share more ideas for using the die.  You won’t want to miss that!

Christmas in the Country Stacked Spine Mini Album Tutorial

Christmas in July Day 3: Prima Christmas in the Country Stacked Spine Mini Album Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  It’s Day 3 of Christmas in July, and today I have a wonderful Prima Christmas in the Country Stacked Spine Mini Album Tutorial to share with you!  I developed this mini album design when I was on the Graphic 45 Design team, and it is still one of my favorite ways to build a mini album base.  I hope you’ll enjoy the detailed tutorial for this mini album on YouTube!

Christmas in the Country and Reneabouquets

Since it is also Throwback Thursday, I’ve raided The Closet of Inspiration and Delight in search of some older Christmas goodies.  When my hand fell upon Prima’s Christmas in the Country, I  knew exactly what I wanted to make. (There is a chance that I bought an embarrasingly huge stash of this lovely paper collection…but I’m not telling!)

The mini album measures 5 1/2″ x 7″ with a 1 1/2″ spine.  Shaker frames always add a festive vibe to a project, especially when they are filled with such cute elements.  And, as is so often the case, Reneabouquets Beautiful Boar adds the perfect finishing touches.

A Peek Inside

There are 4 sections to the mini album.  The cover is made with heavy kraft cardstock.  Inner pages are cut from 110# Natural Cardstock. Then I lined the inner pages with more of the heavy kraft cardstock to create really thick, sturdy pages.  Can you see how the interior pages start out big, get smaller, then get big again due to the stacked spine design. This is one of the reasons I enjoy this style of album so much.

Friends, this is a massive tutorial.  Go grab yourself a cuppa and a snack to sustain you before you hit play!

This tutorial ought to keep you busy until next Tuesday.  That’s when our next Christmas in July post is planned.

Hello, Friends!  I think you are going to love this Let it Snow Christmas Shaker Card Folio.  It’s perfect for gift giving, quick and easy to make, and pretty enough to use as part of your holiday décor.   Pretty papers from Prima’s Christmas in the Country provide the backdrop for a festive shaker element made with Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace All is Calm Word Frame.

Adorn the 6 1/4″ square folio with some handmade poinsettia flowers, Christmas ribbon and holly leaves.

Here’s a close up of the shaker element.  I love the way the sparkly sequins shimmer behind the lattice work frame.  It’s just like looking at Christmas lights through a wintry window!  This die set comes with two different sentiments.  I die cut the Let it Snow sentiment from red metallic paper and regular cardstock.  If you offset the sentiments slightly when you adhere them together, it creates a bit of a drop shadow effect.

Suspend some cute Christmas Charms from the spine.

A Peek Inside

I love to make projects that are part card, part mini album, and part gift!  Create a little waterfall mechanism on the left to store photos of the season.

How about a Christmas Tea Party in a Box?  You can fill yours with little treats and treasures that will bring joy to the recipient.

Use your scraps to dress up individually wrapped Ghiradelli Chocolates, honey dipper, cookies and honey packets.  And you are never too grown up for a peppermint stick!  The vellum envelope holds a holiday tea bag and a post card to write your personal greeting.

Decorate the flap pages, or leave room to add photos.

Maybe I’ll try to work up a Throwback Thursday tutorial so you can learn how to build the base.  Then you can decorate it up with your own favorite papers.  Would you like that?

Winter Birthday Wishes Card

Wintry Birthday Wishes Card Prima Christmas in the Country by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

Prima Christmas in the Country Winter Birthday Wishes Card for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends! Do you ever use your Christmas papers for Winter Birthday Wishes?   Sometimes we forget that December is a birthday month for lots of folks.  We actually had 4 family birthdays this month!  This vintage style card made with Prima’s Christmas in the Country collection is a perfect choice for a winter birthday greeting.

The buffalo check, and frosted roses make me feel like I’m out for a brisk sleigh ride in the sparkling snow.  How about you?  Texture and pattern play an important role in this card design.

  • Houndstooth plaid lends a counterpoint to the large check in the background.
  • Antique Silver embossing on the frame amps up the vintage vibe.
  • Silver linen paper has a soft weave that adds a subtle sparkle that is echoed by the silver metallic grosgrain ribbon.
  • Silky printed satin ribbon adds a touch of whimsy to the card arrangement.
  • The glittering rhinestone button adds just the right touch of elegance.

If you’ve never dry brushed your flowers with chalk paint, I highly recommend it.  These red summer roses look as though they’ve been touched by frost.

Try tucking some metal charms into your flower cluster.  It’s a fun surprise!  And winter butterflies create a sense of movement as they flit around the framed image.

A Peek Inside

Finish the inside with a pair of pockets and some thoughtful tuck in’s.  Gift cards are always a welcome birthday treat!

I hope you all enjoyed the most wonderful, peaceful and joyful Christmas!  It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of this very tough year.  Let’s hope there are good things waiting in the wings!

Prima Christmas in the Country Mrs. Deer Box Card

Hello, Friends!  Let’s kick the week off with a shabbylicious Mrs. Deer Box Card that is just brimming with Christmas in the Country charm.  I finally had time to dig into this delicious Prima collection, and it’s as wonderful to work with as I had anticipated!

If you love woodland style, old barns, buffalo plaid posies and country charm, this 5″ x 7″ card is going to tickle you pink!  I created a 5″ x 7″ top fold card with a 1″ spine and a box style pocket interior to house all the elements seen here.  It was a totally delightful morning spent completely lost in my imaginary world.  I hope you enjoy it as well!

Mrs. Deer Box Card : The Woodland Wreath

Prima Christmas in the Country Shabby Chic Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

The wreath around Mrs. Deer is made using one of my favorite new techniques.  Here’s how to make it happen:

  • Begin by die cutting 2 Spellbinders Holly Berry Wreaths from Christmas in the Country.  Select a neutral pattern for the best results.
  • Ink the inner and outer edges of both wreaths with a little Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
  • Next, cover one wreath with Versamark Embossing ink.
  • Now place it in a funnel tray, or on a clean sheet of printer paper and cover it with Seth Apter’s Vintage Beeswax Baked Texture.  Heat emboss.
  • Let the wreath cool a bit, then tap randomly with Versamark.  Sprinkle lightly with Seth Apter Ancient Amber Baked Texture and heat emboss a second time.
  • Now, the fun part: Rub Peeled Paint Distress Oxide directly over the surface of the cooled wreath. Spritz with water until little beads of ink form.  Then heat emboss again.  The ink will sink below the embossing powder and add a lovely mottled effect.
  • Finally, place small spacers between the two wreath layers and adhere together.

Mrs. Deer Christmas Card: A Peek Inside

Create a box pocket inside the card, then tuck in this lovely shabby chic gift card folio.

This makes a great gift all on its own, or you can tuck in a small gift card when you write your personal message.
