Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  This Stamperia Classic Christmas Slimline Shaker Card Folio is my inspiration piece for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Christmas in  July Blog Hop.   Welcome to the hop!  You should be coming here from Gloria’s lovely blog.

Christmas ribbon is always beautiful, but I especially love the 3/8″ Christmas Bold Check Ribbon that I’ve featured on this 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ slimline shaker card.  I think it’s the tiny gold threads running through it that make it so very special.

How to Make Regular Mulberry Flowers into Christmas Mulberry Flowers

Have you ever tried altering the lovely mulberry flowers from Really Reasonable Ribbon?  It’s so easy to do, and gives your flowers a handmade look and feel.  Here’s how I altered the Cherry Blossoms and Magnolia Blossoms on this Christmas Card.

  • First, gently open the cupped petals with your fingers.  Both Magnolia Blooms and Cherry Blossoms come with a cupped center.
  • Next, select a small paintbrush and lightly brush the petals with gold paint, ink, or stain.  I used Nuvo Indian Gold Mousse on my petals. (Linked below.)
  • Now thin out some white paint (chalk, acrylic, distress…any white paint will do) and pick the thinned paint up with your paint brush.  As you hold the brush parallel to your flowers, tap the end so that tiny droplets of paint spatter onto the petals.  You can also spatter the paint over the rest of your card front.

TIP:  Don’t want an area to be paint spattered?  Cover it with a sticky note! Then spatter to your heart’s delight!

Magnetic Flap Closure

I’m really enjoying using my Gift Card Wallet Die for more than just making gift wallets!  On this card, it’s a magnetic flap that holds the folio neatly closed.  All the dimensional elements on the card front appear on the flap.

 

Look at all the flaps and folds on this fun card!

Add a pocket on the left hand flap, then fill it with a gift card wallet, bookmark and a pretty journal card.

Thread RRR Gold and White Baker’s Twine, Peppermint Baker’s Twine, and Green Burlap String through the top of the tag.  Twist the fibers, then tie a knot about 2″ below the end of the twine to create a pretty tassel topper.  Add charms to the top knot and grommet to make the tag extra pretty.

We’ve been through more chaos and stress these past few years than any of us ever signed up for.  So I wanted to create a warm and nostalgic recipe folio that would transport us all back to simpler, happier times.  Naturally, I looked to Stamperia’s gorgeous Classic Christmas collection to help me carry out this task.  It fairly oozes with Christmas joy and happiness.

You’ll find loads and loads of room for photos, journaling, and recipes inside this interactive folio.  I  love its Old World charm and classic Christmas color palette.

When it came to designing a spot for your treasured family recipes, I wanted you to be able to take them out of the folio.  So I created this clever pocket waterfall in the center panel of the album.  It is so easy to just pull the card out while you bake, then slide it back into the pocket when you are done.  And, each pocket will hold multiple recipe cards.

Flips, Flaps and Festive Features

Do you remember shaking the presents under the tree to try to figure out what was inside?  Christmas secrets are the very best secrets!  So I built several secret pockets, flips and flaps into the album design.  This pull out feature is so much fun to explore!

And just look at how beautiful these papers are!  This album will never go out of style!

Throwback Thursday: Stamperia Classic Christmas Mini Album Tour with Tips & Ideas

Hello, Friends!  It’s Throwback Thursday and I have a lovely Stamperia Classic Christmas Mini Album Tour to share with you today.  Once again, there’s no tutorial, as this is a massive project.  But we will take a leisurely stroll through the album and I’ll share lots of handy tips and ideas that you can use in your next mini album project.  You’ll be able to find a linked supply list below this post.  So grab a cuppa and join me for a Classic Christmas treat.

Creating a Vintage Vibe

Christmas is a time for home, family, friends, good food and celebration!  So I tried to incorporate all of these elements in this Graphic 45 Rectangle Tag and pocket Mini Album.  I could almost hear the carolers singing and feel the snowflakes gently falling as I designed the cover.  Here are some tips to help you create a classic, vintage Christmas vibe.

  • First, heat emboss the album edges with Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel.  Those faux gilt edges create a frame and instantly say “Old Fashioned Christmas.”
  • Next, add sparkle with Dries Clear Adhesive and glitter!  You can add snowy effects under on windows, doors, fields and trees.
  • Then, choose Vintage Christmas Ribbon for the bow.
  • Finally, offset the rectangular chipboard house with a round Snowflake Frame from Reneabouquets.  This is one of the most gorgeous Christmas frames I have ever seen, and it adds elegance and vintage charm to the album cover.

Begin by heat embossing the frame with WOW Vintage Champagne.  Then die cut an acetate circle using Spellbinders largest circle frame die.  Adhere the acetate to the back of the frame with Dries Clear Adhesive.  Now adhere 3 rows of 1/8″ foam strips to the back of the frame to make the shaker box.  Die cut the circle element from the paper collection, dress it up with a little glitter, then fill with a mix of snowflakes, beads, buttons, and flat back pearls.

A Charming Spine Treatment

Now dig through your stash of Christmas embellishments and create a lovely dangle charm for the spine. When these move, they sound like Christmas bells softly ringing.

Throwback Thursday Christmas Shaker Hanger Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to Throwback Thursday Christmas in July!  Today I have a super sweet and easy to make Christmas Shaker Hanger Tutorial for you.  You can make this cute project in no time, and then hang it on a kitchen cabinet, a door knob or an office cubicle.  If you get started on making these now, you’ll have plenty to give as gifts when Christmas rolls around.

Authentique Classic Christmas and Spellbinder Dies

Use any favorite Christmas collection to make this sweet little shaker hanger.  My blog buddy, Sherry Somers, gifted me with a 6×6 pad of Authentique Paper’s Classic Christmas collection in some happy mail this spring.  Since this is one of my all time favorite Christmas collections, I decided to feature it this week.  I had a few bits and pieces of the 12×12 brick pattern along with some 3×4 cards left.  But nothing else, so that 6×6 pad came in real handy!  Thanks again, Sherry!

TIP: Stitch the brick patterned paper onto some burlap to add country charm to your shaker hanger.  Since sewing machine needles don’t like to stitch through adhesive, just place a bit of Scor-Tape in the center of the two panels, then stitch.  You’ll be able to keep your margins straight, but won’t hurt your sewing machine.

Frosty Windowpanes

The Spellbinders June Die of the Month makes a great windowpane!  Die cut the Snip it Grid Calendar piece from the kit 3 times: twice from cream cardstock and once from grey.  Then glue the three layers together so that they are slightly offset.  This will give your window pane a real feeling of depth.

TIP: Use a paintbrush to apply dries clear adhesive to the back of each die cut layer.  This is faster, and ultimately neater, than applying the glue straight from the bottle.  I do the same thing when I add my clear cardstock to the back of the windowpanes.  You have far less trouble with glue oozing out onto the acetate and making a sticky, hard to clean up mess.

Little Details

Fussy cut this cute house from a 3×4 card.  Then back it with dimensionals.  Apply Stickles or glitter to the snowy areas of the roof to add lots of shine.  This shows up better in real life than it does in the photos.

Paint jingle bells and Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Christmas Bells with white chalk paint to add country charm.

Die cut flower layers from scraps of patterned paper and winter foliage from cream cardstock.  Custom flowers in a jiffy!

Tie painted jingle bells to the handle of a vintage mini hanger. Tuck in some die cut leaves as a finishing touch.
