Prima Farm Sweet Farm Horse Lovers Birthday Card Tutorial for Make & Take Tuesday
Hello, Friends! This Horse Lovers Birthday Card Tutorial is my feature for this week’s Make & Take Tuesday. It took a series of small miracles and a truckload of determination to get this episode put together for you! Making the card was the easy part! But getting the video edited was not! My computer updated last Thursday, and I lost my sound card. After spending 3 days trying to fix the problem, updating drivers, running Malware programs and reading countless “how to fix the sound on your computer” articles, I admitted defeat.
Yes, I had to purchase a new computer (laptop). Which should not be a big deal, right? You just go to the store, pick out a computer, put it in your cart and come home.
Sadly, no.
Dale and I searched and searched to find a laptop that would do what I needed it to do and was also in stock. Supply chain issues are no joke. But I found one that will do the job…even if it is not perfect. After getting it all set up, I had to find a new video editing program, because the one I know like the back of my hand, of course, does not work on the new model.
Go ahead and laugh. I finally did, and it did me good. So, if this video tutorial is not quite up to my normal standards, be kind. I’m still learning the program.
Now, on with today’s project! Hooray!
Horse Loving 10 Year Old Granddaughter
Our sweet Julia turns 10 this month. Do you remember being horse crazy when you were that age? I was! So I wanted to make her a horse themed birthday card that she could display on her dresser. Easel cards are my “go to” fancy fold when I want to make a card that can easily be displayed. In the tutorial, you’ll learn how to put the various layers together and add the embellishments.
TIP: Make a smaller focal image pop off the page by adding a frame. This circular frame from Reneabouquets does the job beautifully. Plus, I always appreciate the addition of a circular element on a square card. It makes it more inviting and softens all the hard edges.
A Peek Inside
The inside is super simple. Add a little side pocket for the bookmark/tag element and leave room to add a blank sentiment panel. I kind of hate to cover up the cute chipmunks, so I might add the sentiment on the back side of the card instead.
