Amazing Paper Grace May 2022 Die of the Month

Amazing Paper Grace May 2022 Die of the Month: Lovin’ from the Oven Recipe Card Folio

Hello, Friends!  It’s time for me to share the Amazing Paper Grace May 2022 Die of the Month with you, and boy is it ever cute!  I’m calling this one “Lovin’ from the Oven” because the adorable factor is right up there with the Pillsbury Doughboy.  Remember him?

My mom was an amazing baker.  There was nothing fancy or magazine worthy about our country kitchen.  The linoleum was worn in spots.  My dad built the countertops, then covered them with the same linoleum that adorned the kitchen floor.  The pots and pans were ancient, battered and very Plain Jane. And the oven?  Let’s just say you would not find it in any respectable modern kitchen and leave it at that.

But when my mom cranked up the oven, it was transformed into a sneak preview of Heaven.  The woman could cook!  Hardly a day passed when our home was not filled with the yeasty, mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked bread.  When molasses cookies were on the menu, sweet spices filled the air.  Chocolate cake?  Be still my heart!  I think I learned how to cook by hanging out in the kitchen with my mom.  So this little project is dedicated to her memory.

3D Pop-Up Vignette Oven Shaker Element

I’m not gonna lie to you: when i took this die set out of the package, I felt a moment of anxiety.  There are a LOT of small pieces inside!  But, the packaging has a helpful step by step guide on the back that made it very simple to put this cutie pie oven together.  I opted to adapt the die into this sweet little shaker element.  (You can see Becca’s version HERE.) Here’s how this sweet little oven came together:

  • First, die cut the outline of the oven from plain cardstock and cut off the side tabs.
  • Next, die cut the oven with the door insert from plain cardstock, and cut off the tabs.
  • Now die cut the oven with the door insert from patterned cardstock and cut off the tabs.
  • Then adhere the patterned paper over the plain cardstock with the door.  Back this piece with clear cardstock (acetate) and add 3 rows of 1/8″ foam tape to the back.
  • Next, die cut the accent pieces from rose gold cardstock as seen in the photo.
  • Now die cut the oven drawer, knobs and clock from a graphite shimmer cardstock.
  • Finally, die cut the oven mitts and utensils from a scrap of contrasting patterned paper.
  • Place your shaker elements inside the prepared oven cavity.
  • Adhere the oven racks (cut from rose gold) to the plain cardstock backer piece.
  • Line up the backer piece over the shaker window and press in place.
  • Now you can build your folio base and decorate.
A Peek Inside

This simple folio base measures 7″ x 5″ with a 1/2″ spine.  I’ve added a side pocket on the left and a standard pocket on the right.

This is a great way to share a recipe with someone you love.  Just tuck a couple of your tried and true recipes into the pocket on the left.  Then add a little tea wallet, honey stick and photo folio to the pocket on the right.

All my best memories have been made in the kitchen!  My sweet granddaughters join me every Friday for cooking lessons and we have the best time!  Photos of these moments are important!  So I made this little 4×4 folio to hold a few of them in place. This would also make a great gift!

Farmhouse Kitchen Flip Folio for Really Reasonable Ribbon April 2021 Blog Hop

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to a tour of my Farmhouse Kitchen Flip Folio for the Really Reasonable Ribbon April 2021 Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from Ginny’s amazing blog.  I’ve paired the country fresh papers from Echo Park with the Turquoise Satin Ribbon from the April 2021 Ribbon Club Assortment.   Here’s a sneaky peek at the vibrant ribbons in this Bright Floral Assortment.

Down on the Farm

Turquoise Ribbon is used three ways on this 5 1/2″ x 5″ x 1″ flip folio.  It serves as the bow cluster, the closure mechanism, and on the spine.

This little vignette takes me right back to my Grammy’s kitchen!  And look how beautifully the turquoise ribbon plays with the blueberry patterned paper from the collection!

Wrap the spine with a length of Turquoise Satin ribbon.  Then tie a cluster of mini silverware inside a square knot.  Cut the ends and you’ve got a country fresh charm dangle in a jiffy!

Add the ribbon closure to the folio cover before you wrap the spine with the floral patterned paper.  First, attach 1/2″ Scor-Tape around the middle of the folio.  Then adhere the ribbon over the tape.  Leave about a 9″ over hang on each side for ease in tying a bow.

A Quick Peek Inside

Inside this little folio you’ll find hidden pockets, pull out pages, and lots of flips and flaps.
If you’d like to see the rest of the album, I invite you to watch this short video tour with tips and tricks.
