Authentique Flawless Queen Mum Mother’s Day Gift Ensemble for Authentique Group Post

Hello, Friends!  Mother’s Day is literally just around the corner.  Moms should be treated like royalty on this special day, so I created this Queen Mum Mother’s Day Gift Ensemble with the Authentique Flawless Collection.  I had my own precious mother in mind while creating these paper pretties.  Her favorite color was pink…so I think she would approve.

I know Mother’s Day is not always a happy day for every woman out there.  For those of you who find it hard to get through this day because of bad memories, grief over the loss of your mother, or sadness at never having been able to become a mom, I offer you a gentle hug.  My own mom passed in 2015, so it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to celebrate with her.  My goal each year is to spend some time remembering her and celebrating her life.

A Tribute to My Mom…the Queen of My Heart!

My mom had every reason in the world to be a real “stinker.”  Born into very humble circumstances, her parents divorced and gave her away when she was only 4 years old.  She was sent to live with a very cold and aloof aunt.  She was never hugged, never tucked in at night, never told she was beautiful or smart or loved.  Yet she did not become bitter or inflict her sad life on the life of her 5 children.

My mother was joy personified.  She was always singing, always ready for a good laugh, always ready to lend a helping hand, always quick to embrace us, praise us, encourage us and sacrifice for us.  Her heart was open to those who needed a mother’s love, even if they were pretty unlovable.  A brilliant mind, creative soul and adventurous spirit made her into a remarkable mother.  So I celebrate her on this special day.

Queen Mum Shaker Trinket Box

The first item in this ensemble is the Queen Mum Shaker Trinket Box. This is 5″ x 7″ altered book box with an acrylic shaker frame on top.

TIP:  Cover the foam adhesive sides of the shaker frame with 1/4″ strips of patterned paper.

Because my mom was an avid letter writer, I designed a set of simple note cards and matching envelopes to go inside the box.

And because my mom loved to make lists, I created a little matching note pad to tuck inside, too.

Mom would have loved all this pink!

Queen Mum Easel Shaker Card

Use the same image on the easel card.  This ties it together with the trinket box and makes for a lovely presentation.

Die cut a border from the black damask pattern.  Then back it with pink cardstock to create a stunning border.

Here’s a look at the inside of the card.  All of these quotes make me think of my mom.

I had just enough room to add a box style treat pocket on the top of the easel.

Create a 3″ x 3″ envelope for tea and chocolate with an envelope punch.  Then tuck in a special demitasse spoon to complete the trio.

Years ago I found a quote from Pearl S. Buck, one of my mom’s favorite authors.  I think of it every Mother’s Day because it is so true.

“Some mothers are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is love just the same, and most mothers kiss and scold together”

May you all be treated like a Queen on Mother’s Day!

Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: Amazing Paper Grace April Club Kit

Hello, Friends!  This Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card is no April Fool’s Joke!  It’s my project for the Amazing Paper Grace April Club Kit. Oh, the stories I could write with this super cute pink dimensional typewriter!

One of the things I love about the APG Club Kit is the versatility each one affords.  This 3D Typewriter Vignette Die is designed to stand all on it’s own like a little shadowbox.  But I chose to use it as the dimensional focal point on this pretty in pink card.  I followed all the directions that come with the kit.  But I did not add the tabs and side pieces to make it a stand alone item.  Instead, I layered dimensionals between the typewriter layers and featured it on this 6″ x 6″ easel card.  How cute would this be on your work desk?

Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: The Typewriter

Authentique’s Flawless collection seemed to be the perfect match up for this project.  Here’s how I put the typewriter together:

  • First, die cut (2) typewriter frames, and all the rest of the parts from black cardstock.
  • Now run these pieces through a second time using the embossing plate and mat to add lots of texture and dimension.
  • Next, die cut the pieces a second time using patterned papers from the Flawless 6″ x 6″ paper pad.  Mix and match the papers for more fun.
  • Then emboss these pieces as you did the black cardstock.

Piece the typewriter together following the directions that come with the dies.  I alternated black and pink pieces to provide more contrast and visual interest.  Add dimensionals between the layers to make the image pop off the page.

Now die cut the typewriter papers from patterned cardstock.  Cut an additional paper from black to mat the paper that is at the back.  This helps it to pop off the page.  Layer dimensionals between the pages for extra dimension. Place a dot of Glossy Accents on each of the keys for even more dimension.

Finally, die cut the sentiments from hot pink cardstock.  Cut them out and adhere over the patterned papers.  Layer the papers at an angle inside the “roller” . Then add flowers and butterfly to finish the design.

Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: The Stopper

First, cover the inside of your card base with designer paper.  Create a pocket on the bottom of the card by adhering 3 sides of a 6″ x 2 1/2″ panel of designer paper to the card base.  You’ll see how this works below.

Cut a fishtail banner from the black damask print in Flawless.  Back it with dimensionals and adhere to the lower inside card panel.  This will be the base for the brake, or stopper, on this easel card.  Cut out two small sentiment cards from the paper collection.  Mat on both hot pink and black cardstock scraps. Arrange at an angle and place dimensionals between and on the back side.  Then adhere to the card base.  Add a little paper clip, some pretty pink posies, ribbon and a button.

Spellbinders 3D Vignette Typewriter Easel Card: A Peek Inside

Now you can see the cute pocket inside the card.  Create a little gift card wallet with a sentiment panel from the 12×12 collection.  Adhere a little chocolate treat with repositionable  Glue Dots.

Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Infinity Card with Authentique Flawless

Hello, Friends!  Have you seen the Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Infinity Spellbinder’s Die of the Month yet?  Oooh la la!  This is one beautiful set of dies!  It pairs perfectly with the new Authentique Flawless paper collection.  This combination of pink and black makes me super happy!

Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Infinity Card: An Inlaid Mosaic Design

The star of the show is this gorgeous inlaid die cut from the Elegant Infinity Die.  Here’s how I made that happen:

  • First, die cut the medallion, the circle and the square frame from cream cardstock.
  • TIP: use a bit of washi tape to hold the dies in place once you’ve spaced them out on your cutting plate.  This keeps them from shifting and ensures a perfect cut.
  • Next, tap the die cuts with Versamark Ink and heat emboss with WOW Vintage Romance Embossing Powder.
  • Then mat the die cuts on a 4 3/8″ square of Flawless Three.
  • Mat this on both pink and black cardstock.  Place a Prima Crystal in the center of the medallion for a little extra sparkle.
Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Infinity Card: Fit for a Queen

This die is so regal, I just had to add a banner of these Flawless beauties to the card front.

Fuchsia ribbon and Iridescent Metallic String add wonderful contrast to the pretty pastel papers.

Create sweet floral clusters with the cinch and go flower dies that come with the collection.  Attach them at each end of the banner for the perfect finishing touch.

Amazing Paper Grace Elegant Infinity Card: A Peek Inside

Inside the card, I’ve created a fancy sentiment card using the corner dies.  This is so simple to do, but adds such a touch of elegance to a piece of plain cardstock.  Die cut the corners from cream cardstock.  Then adhere them to a panel of blush cardstock.  Then die cut a lacy pocket using the same dies and designer paper.

This is one of my “party in a box” cards with sweet treats tucked into a fancy pocket.  This one holds a book mark, a tea wallet, cookies, chocolate, honey stick and a sweet little vintage silver plate spoon.  This would make such a lovely sweet 16 birthday card!

A Closer Look

There are 9 separate dies that come with the set, so I can see myself using it in lots of different ways.  The little cinch and go flowers would also make wonderful roses or rosebuds.
