Floral Shoppe Autumn Flowers Urn

Heartfelt Creations Floral Shoppe Rustic Sunflowers Simply Elegant Centerpiece Die by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 02

What do you do when you have an extra handmade flower or two left over from a project?  Do you ever think to use them in a mixed flower arrangement? The Floral Shoppe Urn is a wonderful way to display those floral “extras.”  I had a few die cut leaves, a few sunflowers, and a small collection of previously stamped Floral Fillers stashed away in plastic boxes.  So putting this lovely fall floral arrangement together was a snap!

TIP: Die cut your floral urn from the Floral Shoppe paper pad.  Then customize it by inking up the matching stamp with clear embossing ink.  Use the die as a template to help you line the stamp up with the die cut image.  Now heat emboss with some Frayed Burlap Distress Embossing Powder to make the details look 3-D.  Finish the urn by sponging on some Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  This gives the urn a wonderful aged appearance that pops off the card.

Die Cut Your Background

Create a lacy die cut background for your card with the Simply Elegant Centerpiece Die.  Here’s how to make the die fit on a 5″ x 7″ card base.

  • First, stitch 2 layers of patterned paper onto a 5″ x 7″ panel of copper metallic paper.
  • Next, die cut the Simply Elegant Centerpiece from white cardstock.
  • Now, cut the die cut carefully in half.  Adhere one half near the bottom of the card base and the other near the top.
  • You will have a 1″ gap between the two die cut halves.  Fill this space in with a strip of copper cardstock wrapped with a complementary shade of ribbon.
  • Now use foam tape to adhere the sides and bottom of your urn to the card base.  Fill it with flowers and your job is done!
A Peek Inside

Dress up the inside of your card with the center piece of the die cut.  Cut this carefully in half and adhere as seen in the photo.

Create a pocket on the bottom half of your card and tuck in a little notecard/gift card wallet.

Add a fall tea bag and a honey stick.  Now your card is a gift!  You can also tuck a gift card inside if you wish.

On With the Hop!

Be sure to visit all the blogs in the hop and leave some sweet words behind.  This enters you into the drawing for the first $25 gift card.

Finish up the hop over on the Heartfelt Creations blog where you’ll find a wonderful tutorial waiting for you.  Leave a comment to be entered into the drawing for the SECOND $25 gift card.

Heartfelt Creations April 2021 Alumni Blog Hop: Springtime Floral Shoppe Folio

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations April 2021 Alumni Blog Hop!  The hop starts here and runs through 11:55 PM on Monday, May 3rd 2021.  At that time, we will randomly choose a comment from a mystery blog to win a $25 Heartfelt Creations Gift Card!  How exciting is that?  Be sure to check the Heartfelt Creations Blog and Facebook Page on Wednesday May 5th because that is where the winner will be announced.  The winner will then have 72 hours to claim the prize. If you are the lucky winner, simply email socialmedia@heartfeltcreations.us  and write “Winner of the April 2021 Alumni Hop” in the subject line.

Floral Shoppe Springtime Folio

Have you had a chance to play with the fabulous Floral Shoppe Collection yet?  This is probably one of my all time favorite collections!  It’s just so easy to put together a beautiful project with these papers, stamps and dies.  I created a winter floral urn a few months ago, so I decided to make a Springtime urn for this hop.

Would you like to know my sneaky trick?  Instead of stamping each image and floral filler, simply die cut them from the paper pad!  So easy!  Then I just add a little Crystal Clear Glitter or Prills to the individual flowers using my Art Institute Dries Clear.  This creates wonderful dimension in a floral arrangement!

Delightful Daisies

Daisies are the perfect flower for springtime projects.  Here’s how I made these cheery yellow daisies.

  • First, stamp Delightful Daisies on Specialty Floral Paper using green ink.
  • Next, while the ink is still wet, heat emboss with clear powder.
  • Then swipe Distress Inks on a non-stick craft mat.  I chose to work with Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed.  Spritz the ink with a mister bottle until little beads of moisture form.  Then tap or swipe the stamped images through the ink.  Let them dry naturally, or gently dry with your heat gun if you are impatient like me.
  • Now die cut the Delightful Daisies with the matching die.
  • Shape the petals with the Golf Tool Shaping Kit.
  • Then fill the center of each flower with hot glue and glass beads.
Buttons and Bows

Wrap the spine of the folio with 1/4″ yellow gingham ribbon.  Tie a knot, then top it with a bow and a posy.  Leave the tails long, and adhere buttons along the length to add a playful feel to the project.

A Peek Inside

Add a blank card front and pocket to the inside of the card.  This gives you a great place to write a personal message, and tuck in a thoughtful gift.

TIP: Dress up a tea bag with a scrap of designer paper, then tuck in a little demitasse spoon to go with it.  You can do the same thing with a Ghiradelli Chocolate square.  Add a little honey stick, and your card is now a gift.

On With the Hop

Here’s the line up for the Heartfelt Creations April 2021 Alumni Hop.  I’ve had a sneak peek at some of these projects, and let me assure you…you are about to be amazed and inspired by the beautiful projects coming your way!

Heartfelt Creations January 2021 Alumni Hop: Floral Shoppe Urn Tea Party in a Box Card

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations January 2021 Alumni Hop!  This is your first stop on this inspirational blog hop with the HC Alumni Design Team.  The hop will continue until 11:55 PM EST on Monday, February 1st.  Then we will randomly select a comment from a mystery blog to win a $25 gift card to Heartfelt Creations.  So you will want to hop along with us and leave a sweet comment on each of the blogs listed below.  The winner of the hop will be announced at the top of this blog post and on the Heartfelt Creations Blog and Facebook page on Wednesday, February 3rd.  Now, let’s get the inspiration flowing!

Floral Shoppe Urn Tea Party in a Box

My inspiration piece for the January 2021 Alumni Hop is this Floral Shoppe Urn Tea Party in a Box Card.  Although it looks difficult to make, it’s actually a very simple, straightforward creation.  The trick?  Use the cut apart images in the Floral Shoppe paper collection to make the floral fillers and planter for this gorgeous card.  That’s right!  Each Floral Shoppe Paper Pad has 4 sheets of floral fillers and urns that are sized to fit the Floral Shoppe Dies.  What could be easier?

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you make your unique version of this card.

  • First, die cut 2 urn bases from the paper collection.  Lightly shade the edges with Distress Ink. (I used Faded Jeans Distress Ink since I was working with the blue background.) Then layer the urns together with foam tape.  Place the tape along the sides and base of both urns so you can tuck your flowers and fillers behind and between them.  This creates lots of lovely dimension.
  • Next, apply Rajni Chawla Crystal Clear Glitter to some of the berries and stems.  Use Dries Clear Adhesive for the best results.
  • Now, add some texture and dimension with Dries Clear Adhesive and an assortment of Prills.
  • Allow some of the foliage and berries to hang down the front of the urn to give it a more organic look.  Simply bend the stems and adhere behind the urn layers to achieve this effect.
  • Save time by using a mix of pre-made flowers (Small Wild Rose and Lush Lilac) in your floral arrangement.  I always make extra flowers and store them in little boxes for future use.
Tea Party in a Box

There’s a tea party for 1 waiting inside this pretty card!  The top half of the 6×6 card base is a little photo folio.

Score a 10″ x 5 3/4″ panel of designer paper at 2 1/4″ and again at 8″.  Fold along the scored lines and adhere to the card base.  Then select 2 card front images and adhere over the flaps.

Create a pocket from a border strip and fill it with a little note card and simple bookmark.  You can write your personal greetings on the flaps, or add photos to really personalize your creation.

Create a box style pocket on the bottom half of the card.  (A pocket-making tutorial can be found HERE).  Then fill the pocket with an assortment of treats to make a tea party for one.  Once the treats are consumed, the pocket is a great storage spot for additional photos!

Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorial: My Brand Ambassador Goodbye Post

Hello, G45’ers!  Today I have a really quick and easy to make Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorial to share with you.  The base is made with just one sheet of designer paper, making it a “one sheet wonder.” Although it measures a neat and tidy 4″ x 6″  it’s got lots of flaps, pockets, tags and goodies inside.  Oh, and there’s a shaker cover thrown in just for fun.  I

This post marks my final project as a Graphic 45 Brand Ambassador.  I’ve had so much fun these past two years, but the rules say I must go…and go I must!  Don’t worry…I’m staying on as a G45 Special Projects Designer for the remainder of this year.  And I will always love Graphic 45 and share loads of fun projects and tutorials here.  It’s just that I will no longer get to proudly wear the title “Brand Ambassador.”  There’s a whole new crew of talented artists who will have that privilege.

Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorial: Bloom Where You’re Planted

Some of you may not know that I auditioned three years in a row before I finally won the honor of becoming a Brand Ambassador.  I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw my name pop up on the list of those chosen to design for G45!  Being on this team has been a real time of growth for me, so I chose this “Bloom Where You Are Planted”  sentiment from the gorgeous Floral Shoppe Collection as the title for this project.

TIP: Add a frame to the top of a shaker element to conceal the adhesive beneath.  I die cut two layers of Sunlit Medley using a Tim Holtz Ornate Frame Die. The frames were adhered together for strength, then added over the top of shaker element for a polished look.

Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorial: A Peek Inside

As soon as you untie the ribbon closure on the front of this album, the fun begins.  Here’s a little pocket page made from a Square Policy Envelope filled with little tags, photo mounts and ephemera cards.

The beauty of Graphic 45 papers drew me to become a part of the G45 family.  The beauty of what I love has become what I do!  And being on this team has created new friendships all around the world.  These friends are the flowers in my garden.

TIP: Need a tag in a hurry?  Most Graphic 45 Sticker Sheets have a gift tag sized sticker.  Simply mat  on the cardstock of your choice, trim around the edges, add a chipboard charm and you’ve got a lovely little tag in no time!

The front page of the photo wallet folds down to reveal two 6” x 4” photo mounts above and below the body of the wallet.  I worked mostly with the “B” sides of each paper to keep the design from becoming too busy.

TIP: Add a small magnet to the back of this “Bloom and Grow” ticket from the Floral Shoppe Tags and Pockets.  Add another magnet beneath the designer paper on the facing page and you’ve got a nifty magnetic closure for this gatefold mechanism.

Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorials; Flaps, Hinges & Policy Envelopes Join the Party

I love the versatility of G45 Staples Policy Envelopes.  Next to G45 tags, they are my favorite Staples!  Remember that nifty little pocket on the first page of the album?  I’ve used the other piece of it to create a flap page.

Fold it down, and you find this great string tie envelope where you can tuck in photos, ephemera cards and other “flat” type memorabilia.  I’ve created little “wings” on either side of the center panel to house these ATC Policy Envelopes and Pockets & Tags.

Tags and Pockets are the perfect size to fit the front of these ATC Policy Envelopes.  This is such a quick and easy way to decorate a page!

In today’s tutorial, you will learn how to create a simple hinge mechanism.  My friends, this will change your paper crafting world!  Hinges lead to flaps and flips and all kinds of fun interactive elements!

What’s inside those ATC Policy Envelopes?  A match set of itty bitty cards, that’s what!  These can hold tiny photos or notes.  And it’s a great way to use up the scraps on your work space!

Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Photo Wallet Tutorial on YouTube

Would you like to know how to put this fun, interactive photo wallet together?  Well, it’s your lucky day!  I’ve created a video tutorial that will show you how!  You can use any collection you like.  I’m willing to bet that you will make more than one of these before it’s all said and done. Enjoy!

Just so that you know I’m human, I left some gaffes and goofs in this tutorial.  I’ve left some of them in here so that you can avoid the pitfalls that tripped me up.  Like I say to my friends, there are no mistakes in crafting…just learning opportunities!

A Fond Farewell

Working with this collection is pure joy…and working with Graphic 45 is absolute bliss. I’m very, very thankful that I’ll be continuing on as  Special Projects Designer alongside the amazing Annette Green and the charming Maria Cole this year.

No worries!  I’ll continue to create with my gorgeous G45 papers and share those creations with you here.  Once a G45’er, always a G45’er!  Right?

Beautiful papers combined with beautiful people has made being a Brand Ambassador the best experience of my life.  And now you have a fresh new crew of amazing artists to carry the torch of creativity forward. Life is good!

Thanks from the tips of my crafty little fingers for making this journey so fun and memorable!  Group hug!

Cheerio,

kathy

Earth Laughs in Flowers Card Folio Tutorial: Guest Designing at Little Birdie Crafts

Hello Friends!  I’m super excited about today’s post, as I have the honor of serving as a Guest Designer at the Little Birdie Crafts Blog.  I can’t think of a better match than Little Birdie Crafts Flowers and Graphic 45’s new Floral Shoppe Collection.  So I combined the two to create this Earth Laughs in Flowers Card Folio Tutorial for you.

Earth Laughs in Flowers Card Folio Tutorial Flower Shoppe by Kathy Clement for Little Birdie Crafts Product by Graphic 45 Photo 01

This is a 5.5″ x 7.5″ card folio with a few mixed media techniques thrown in just for fun.  I’ve altered chipboard with paint and embossing enamel, machine stitched and even pulled out my paintbrush to add a little stenciling to the mix.

Of course, these stunning Little Birdie Flowers steal the show!  You’ll be able to see how I assembled this floral cascade in the YouTube video below.

I built loads of dimension and texture into this design…and boy, was it ever fun!

Working with these flowers really made me think of my mom.  She loved spending time in her gardens, coaxing a wide variety of cultivated and wild flowers to bloom in perfect  harmony.  I tried to re-create that mix of blossoms, colors and textures here.

Earth Laughs in Flowers: Gotta have a Pocket!

You all know how much I love pockets!  I decided to add one to the front of this floral delight.  The pocket itself is a fussy cut floral image from “Sunlit Medley” .  I sewed 3 sides of the image to create a spot to tuck this little bookmark.  The stenciled leaves were easy to add, thanks to Little Birdie Chalk Paint and stencil.  (I’ll have a complete supply list at the end of this post.)

Earth Laughs in Flowers Card Folio Tutorial: A Peek Inside

There are more pockets on the inside of the card folio.

The Floral Shoppe Ephemera Cards made it easy to create this 6.25″ x 4.25″ gift card/treat wallet.

Honestly, these ephemera cards are so pretty, it’s hard to choose between the fronts and the backs!  But I used the “B” side here, so that there would be lots of room to write a personal note.

And if you give a girl a teabag, you’d better include a honey stick!  So I did!

But enough chit chat!  Let’s get down to business and create this card folio together.  This is a long video, but I think you will find it worth watching.  We’ll being by learning how to create the card folio base.  Then we’ll stencil, build layers, distress paper edges and create the floral cascade together.

Next, we’ll learn how to make 2 kinds of pockets and the gift card/treat wallet.  Ready?  Let’s get our craft on!

Earth Laughs in Flowers Card Folio Tutorial on YouTube.

I’d like to close by thanking my friends at Little Birdie Crafts for inviting me to Guest Design on their blog today.  If you love flowers …and chipboard and paint and stencils…then you owe it to yourself to pop over to their blog for a quick visit.  And if you have a second, say hello!

I hope I’ve shared some tips, tricks and ideas that you can use in your own crafty adventures.  If so, I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Thanks for stopping by!
