Graphic 45 October Flower Market Folio Tutorial with Prima Hello, Pink Autumn

Hello Friends!  It’s time to share our Graphic 45 October Flower Market Tutorial for this week’s Make & Take Tuesday crafty adventure.  If you are a fan of Cosmos (and I am) and purple (yup…that, too) then I think you are going to love the way this month’s folio turned out.  It’s one of our prettiest folios yet!

Our “guest star” this month is a selection of Prima Hello, Pink Autumn papers and a few bits from Prima Darcelle.  I’m so happy with the way these colors and patterns blend togeher.  And because it is October, I had to add in a few pumpkins.

The format for the base design is the same as in previous months.  If you’ve missed those earlier tutorials, you can get caught up HERE.

Flips and Flaps

I’ve added a couple of new twists to the flips and flaps this month.  It’ s good to change things up a little bit every now and then.

A flip up flap is more than just a fun interactive feature; it gives us room to add a hidden journaling area.  You’ll also find that I made good use of Annette Green’s Everythings Blooming Doilies and Postage Stamp Frames throughout the folio design.

Cosmos were one of my mom’s favorite flowers, so making this folio brought back lots of good memories for me.

Simple Stories Little Things Box Pocket Folio Tutorial

Simple Stories Little Things Box Pocket Folio Tutorial for Make & Take Tuesday

Hello, Friends!  I’m a little late getting this Simple Stories Little Things Box Pocket Folio Tutorial out to you for today’s Make & Take Tuesday.  I took a couple of days off over the weekend because I was tired!  It felt good to get caught up on laundry, read a book, go for a drive and relax for a bit.  Even though I’m late getting this out today, I think you will still really enjoy the project.  It’s a darling little box style folio  that’s really easy to make.

Transitioning a Summer Collection into a Fall Project

Simple Stories Little Things Box Folio Kathy Clement

Little Thing is technically a summer collection filled with lemon images, and soft summer colors.  But I didn’t get the collection until summer was nearly over, and even then I didn’t have time to use it…until now.  I needed to find a way to make this summery collection feel appropriate for the current season.

So I focused on the yellow gold, black and red tones, plaid patterns and used just a touch of floral papers.  I think it worked really well.  If you die cut the  shaker frame from yellow gold cardstock, back with strips of black cardstock and accent with the cute black floral teapot, it really sells the changing of the seasons.  Or at least, I think it does.  What do you think?

A Peek Inside: Flip Flap Folio

This is a very easy folio base to create, but easy doesn’t mean boring.  It’s loaded with fun flips and flaps.

There’s even a hidden pocket behind the gatefold closure.

And a fun mini waterfall feature, too!

The Box Pocket

The box pocket is scored into the folio base design so it’s super quick and easy to make: just add the sides!  Then you can fill it up with cute goodies like cookies, a vintage demitasse spoon, ladybug tag, honey stick and a mini folio.

There’s room inside the mini folio to add a Pumpkin Spice tea bag…which also  helps with the seasonal transition!

Part 3 Stamperia Sunflower Art Folio Tutorial

Part 3 Stamperia Sunflower Art Folio Tutorial: Sweet and Simple Note Cards

Hello, Friends!  Today we dig into Part 3 Stamperia Sunflower Art Folio Tutorial.  It’s time to finish up the inside of the folio and create a set of four sweet and simple note cards.  Even if you are not making this folio along with me, I think you will find today’s tutorial is a useful tool for those moments when you need to make a quick gift.

We will use just one sheet of 12×12 paper and part of a sheet of 8×8 paper to make these pretty note cards.  Many of you have told me how you struggle when it comes to using patterned papers.  I think this easy technique will help you to break through in that area.

The note cards go into the center box pocket in our folio. Because they are flat, they mail easily.  And I’ll also show you how to dress up a simple kraft envelope.  You could easily make sets of these note cards from any paper collection.  They make great quick gifts or stocking stuffers, too.

Fall Fox Folio Mini Tutorial with Reneabouquets and Prima Autumn Sunset

Hello, Friends!  Today I have a mixed media Fall Fox Folio Mini Tutorial to share with you.  If you checked out the blog on Tuesday, then you learned how to create the quick and easy folio base that we are finishing up today.  You can find that tutorial HERE.

Prima Autumn Sunset Folio Tutorial Reneabouquets Beautiful Board by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 02

Since the folio was still on my desk when I came in to work, and since I had just received a lovely new box of Reneabouquets Beautiful Board, I decided to finish the folio base for our Throwback Thursday post.

Mixed Media Touches

Mixed media touches make this little 5×7 folio extra special.  These easy steps make all the difference.

  • First, dry brush the edges of Reneabouquets Pumpkin Beautiful Board with ivory chalk paint.
  • Next, spatter the pumpkin with the leftover paint.
  • Then tap Reneabouquets Oak Leaves and Acorns Fancy Fall Corners with embossing ink
  • Now sprinkle (think salt) WOW! Super Fine Copper Embossing Powder over the Fall Corners. Tip the excess powder off onto a piece of paper and put back in the jar.
  • Next, sprinkle a little Seth Apter Taos Sunset Baked Textures over the exposed frame.  Tip the excess off as before.
  • Finish by covering the rest of the beautiful board with Stampendous Mixed Metals Embossing enamel.  Tip off the excess.
  • Now heat emboss and watch the magic happen!
A Peek Inside

The interior of this folio will look familiar to  you, because it’s the same folio we created on Tuesday.

Today I’ll show you how to create the fun flip/flap element in the center of the folio.  Then we will decorate the cover together.
