Quick and Easy Masculine Fun Fold Card Tutorial with Photoplay DIY Home Edition
Hello, Friends! It’s Make & Take Tuesday, so I have a Quick and Easy Masculine Fun Fold Card Tutorial to share with you. Our eldest son’s birthday is tomorrow, and since he loves to create with wood, I decided that Photoplay’s DIY Home Edition paper collection was a good choice. As I was taking the papers out of the storage folder, this design idea popped into my head. So if you like fancy fold cards, and you love getting new ideas for masculine cards, I think you’ll enjoy this post.
The Recipe
All you need to create this card (besides the designer papers of your choice) is (2) 11″ x 4 1/4″ panels of black cardstock and (1) 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ panel of black cardstock, a little foam tape and an oval die. The die is actually optional, but it makes for a fun opening inside the card.
Here’s the recipe for this card:
- First score both 11″ x 4 1/4″ panels of black cardstock at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.
- Next, fold the cards on the 5″ scored line.
- Then fold the 2 3/4″ scored line back toward the folded card edge.
- When you overlap the 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ panel of each card, you can see that you have a double z-fold card base, which is fun, right?
- But, if you place gussets on the sides and bottom of one of those panels, you’ve added the potential for a hidden pocket.
- Now, if you place adhesive on just the top, bottom and left hand side of the left hand z-fold, you create a gatefold opening…and a sweet little pocket inside the card to boot!
- Line the smaller folds with 2 1/2″ x 4″ panels of your designer paper.
- Adhere a 3×4 card to the back of the gatefold cover before you adhere it to the front gatefold.
A Peek Inside
Now you can see that fun extra pocket on the left and the center pocket with it’s cool opening, too.
The pocket will hold a 5 1/4″ x 4″ folio, or a photo, or whatever flat goodie you choose to put inside.
Of course, you can make this same card design with feminine papers, too!
