Throwback Thursday Slimline Gatefold Card Tutorial with Photoplay Friendship Collection

Hello, Friends!  This Slimline Gatefold Card Tutorial is such a fun design, and so easy to make that I just had to share it with you in this week’s Throwback Thursday post.  During a quick reconnaissance mission in the Closet of Inspiration and Delight, I found Photoplay’s Friendship Through the Years Collection and decided it’s fresh, somewhat modern vibe was the perfect match for this trendy card style.

I don’t know about  you, but I’m loving the red, beige and teal color palette of this paper collection.

Having 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ inches of room to play with allowed me to create a 4″ x 6″ barn wood “gate” .  An expedition through my Spellbinders dies unearthed this lovely Tiara Rondelle Die. First I die cut it from light kraft cardstock.  Then I cut it a second time from a black floral print from the collection.  Save the inner circle area that’s left from each die cut.  Sandwich the floral print circle (which is the back side of the black floral) between the two Tiara Rondelle frames.  Then back this with the kraft circle to create a lovely focal point for the card.  Foam tape adds lots of depth and dimension.

A Peek Inside

Opening a gatefold card is always lots of fun.  This design also gives you lots of room to add goodies on the inside, too.

Here’s a closer look at the gift card wallet that is tucked into the pocket.

There’s a little note area and a gift card pocket inside.  So now the card becomes a gift.
