Lilac Garden Shaker Card Folio

Lilac Garden Shaker Card Folio with RRR and Spellbinders Just Bee-Cause Stamp/DOM Club

Hello, Friends!  This Lilac Garden Shaker Card Folio carries a promise of spring!  January can be a difficult month for many folks with post-holiday and winter blues.  But gardeners (and cardmakers, too) love to dream about springtime in January!  So I pulled out some beautiful Really Reasonable Ribbon trims and Spellbinders Just Bee-Cause January Stamp/Die of the Month Club supplies to create a dreamy winter garden scene.

Stamp, Emboss, Color, Die Cut…Not So Hard!

I’m still working on my 2023 goal to improve my stamping and coloring skills.  This month’s Clear Stamp/Die of the Month Club was a great way to practice.  Here’s how I did it:

  • First, stamp the floral swag twice onto smooth white cardstock using Versamark Ink.
  • Next, heat emboss with Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder.
  • Then tap and swipe the cooled image into puddles of Worn Lipstick, Milled Lavender and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink. Gently heat dry.
  • Now, use a water brush and Distress Oxide Inks in the same colors to add shading and details to your stamped images.
  • Die cut the images with the matching dies, pop up on foam tape, and arrange around your shaker element.

This process seems to work well for me, and I’m finding it easier all the time!  Yay!

Really Reasonable Ribbon: The Perfect Finishing Touch

For me, ribbon is always the perfect finishing touch on most cards.  This time, I’ve added LIlac Seam Binding Ribbon and Silver Metallic String to complement the pretty lavender/lilac tones in the Prima Plant Department papers.

First I tied a shabby chic bow with the seam binding ribbon.  Then I topped it with a metallic silver bow.  Add a bee charm and rhinestone bauble to more metallic string and tuck into the bow cluster.

Wrap your card panel with a few rows of silver metallic string before you adhere it to the card base for another pop  of sparkle.  It’s a simple technique, but it really works!

A Peek Inside

The garden party will now adjourn to the inside of the card.  I’ve added a little top flap feature with a sweet little tag pocket.

This flips up to reveal a nice spot for writing a note or adding a photo.

A roomy pocket allows you to tuck in a tea wallet, honey stick and ribbon topped tag.

It’s always fun to color match the tea bag whenever possible.  To make the tea wallet, simply score a scrap of designer paper, then create a belly band closure with another scrap.

Whether you are a card maker or a gardener, I wish you a BEE-utiful day today!
