Heartfelt Creations February 2022 Alumni Hop: Dogwoods and Lilacs

Hello, Friends! Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations February 2022 Alumni Blog Hop! Before I share my Dogwoods and Lilacs Notebook Inspiration piece, I’d like to share a little information with you about the hop.

Dogwoods and Lilacs Organizer Notebook

There’s a promise of spring in the air here in North Carolina. So I decided to break out my favorite Dogwood stamps and dies. The gorgeous Lush Lilac collection seemed like the perfect pairing for these spring blossoms. I love the way they dress up this 6″ x 8 1/2″ Notebook Cover.

Here’s how to create the notebook cover base:

First, cut (2) 11″ x 8 1/2″ panels of lavender cardstock. Overlap the 8 1/2″ ends about 1/4″ and adhere together. This will form a long 21 3/4″ x 8 1/2″ panel of paper.
Score this panel at 6″ and 6 3/4″. Then fold on the 6 3/4″ line and repeat. Then score at 5 3/4″. This will leave you with a 2 1/2″ flap that will become a side pocket.
Add strength and durability to the folio base with matted plain cardstock. Then dress it up with beautiful papers, handmade flowers and embellishments.

A Peek Inside

Create a slash pocket on the left hand panel of this trifold folio.

Mat 4″ x 6″ images from the Lush Lilac paper pad on folded white cardstock to create pretty little notecards to go in the pocket.

The center panel of the notebook is a great place to add a junior legal pad. The cardboard backing on the pad lends strength to the design. You can even glue a new pad over the original pad when it’s been used up.

The side pocket on the right is a great spot to store postage stamps, addresses, business cards, etc.

TIP: Create a small pocket on the flap. Then tuck in some of the gift tags from the paper collection. This makes it easy to find them and add to a gift.

You can create a little accordion style photo folio by cutting, joining and folding two rows of 4″ x 5″ images together.

These little organizer notebooks make great Mother’s Day gifts, too!
