Stamperia Winter Valley Mini File Folder Album Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  I’m running late today, but I think you’ll forgive me once you see this Stamperia Winter Valley Mini File Folder Album Tutorial.  It’s just so doggone cute!  The base is made with the Graphic 45 File Folder Die and kraft cardstock.  Quick and easy to make, and versatile (you can dress it up or keep it clean and simple) this is the perfect little stocking stuffer or swap gift.

Good Things in Small Packages

This little cutie measures just 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, but it is a giant when it comes to interactive elements like flips, hidden pockets, and sweet images.

You’ll learn how to make this fun pop up page in the video tutorial.  You can keep it simple with just one pop up element, or go big and add three, as I did here.

Making the pages is quite simple, as you just cut them out with the same file folder die.  No measuring required!

Created to be more of a lap book, or story book, you will also find room for a few small photos on the back of the flip pages.

The little houses in this collection delight me.  They are just so cozy and happy.  Wouldn’t you like to celebrate the holidays in one of them?

Mintay White Christmas Shaker Folio Tutorial

Mintay White Christmas Shaker Folio Tutorial-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Hello, Friends!  Well, I’m back from my break and ready to share this lovely Mintay White Christmas Shaker Folio Tutorial with you for Make & Take Tuesday.  I hope your Thanksgiving weekend was restful and restorative.  We enjoyed lots of good things to eat, lots of hugs, big laughs, great conversations and even time to rest.  What could possibly be better?

But now it’s time to get serious about Christmas crafting!  So many projects are dancing in my head, and only a few days to bring them to life.  I have quite a few new Christmas collections in my stash, and I’m excited to share them with you as we move through this festive season.

Mintay White Christmas is probably my favorite new Christmas collection this year.  It has just the right mix of traditional and fresh colors, patterns and images. Plan on seeing this collection pop up again in future projects, friends!

Reneabouquets Snowflake Shaker Frame

Reneabouquets snowflakes are so detailed and delicate, you can use them right out of the package.  But you know me…I’m going to gild the lily whenever I can!  So I heat embossed them with WOW! Powdered Snow embossing powder.  I wish you could see this 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ folio in real life because it positively glistens like fresh fallen snow.

TIP:  Add a little spice to your flower cascade by tucking fussy cut candy canes, cookies and snowflakes in between the flowers.

The Ribbon Closure and Spine

In keeping with the shabby chic design of this folio, I added torn linen ribbon as a closure.  I love the texture this adds, and the red centers of the snowflakes are a near perfect match for the paper collection.

TIP:  To keep the ribbon from fraying, place a little Dries Clear Adhesive on your fingertips, then brush them lightly over the edges.  It really works!

A Peek Inside

Designing folio bases is probably my favorite crafty pursuit.  I love to look for ways to add interactive elements so that flipping through the pages is an interactive experience.   So we will add a flip page on the left and a pull out folio on the right hand side of this album.

For even more fun, I’ve added a kinetic waterfall feature on the right and a sweet little gatefold door in the center panel.

Want to see what’s behind the door?  Well, you’ll have to watch the video to find out!

This is one of my longer tutorials, so you might want to grab a cuppa, a snack, and put your feet up before you hit play.  We’ll start with a walk through of the paper collection, then I’ll share the finished folio with you.  After that, we’ll get to work building the folio base and adding the various elements.

For your convenience, you can find the basic measurements in the description box below the video on my YouTube channel.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Christmas card featuring Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I look forward to seeing you then!

How to Create a Shabby Chic Christmas Shaker Frame

How to Create a Shabby Chic Christmas Shaker Frame & Reneabouquets Unboxing Video

Hello, Friends!  Would you like to learn how to create a shabby chic Christmas shaker frame?  Oh, good!  I was hoping  you would say yes to that question!  On Sunday, I received my Reneabouquets Brand Ambassador Christmas box and I thought it might be fun if we opened that up together.  With a tutorial and an unboxing video in our future, it’s going to be a very merry Make & Take Tuesday!

Prima Candy Cane Lane Christmas Shaker Card

Shaker cards are one of my favorite things to make, especially at Christmas time!  Those shiny sequins and bright bobbles echo the luster of Christmas lights.  I could not resist the urge to alter this Christmas De-Light-ful frame and turn it into a shaker.  It only takes a few minutes thanks to embossing ink, powder and Mica Spray, but the results are, well, delightful!

Prima Candy Cane Lane papers are a match made at the North Pole.  This shabby chic Christmas collection is a wonderful mix of traditional Christmas images and patterns with a soft, shabby chic color palette.  I’ll give you a peek at the paper collection in the unboxing video below.

Dress your altered frame up with some gorgeous mulberry flowers and printed Beautiful Board for a stunning finish.

A Peek Inside

More shabby chic details await inside this 5×7 top fold card base.

TIP: Upgrade your card to card folio status by simply adding a little flap page to the top of the card interior.  All you need to is to score a 1/2″ flap on one side of an image.  Then adhere the flap behind your panel of patterned paper.  Instant upgrade!

Create a sweet gift card holder and a sentiment panel behind the flap. How fun is that?

TIP: Repeat elements from the card front inside the card to tie everything together beautifully.  The darling deer on the cover of a tea wallet picks up on the sweet deer in the shaker frame image.

Tuck a tea bag and a honey stick inside, and now you have a lovely gift for your favorite tea drinker.  Cocoa packets, chocolate or instant coffee packets work, too.

If you’d like to follow along as I open my box of Christmas goodies from Reneabouquets and then watch me create this shabby chic Christmas shaker frame, then grab a cuppa and enjoy this video on my YouTube channel.

I hope you enjoyed watching this process video.  I have lots more Christmas surprises planned, so look for another posting tomorrow.

Autumn Serenade Slimline Card Folio Tutorial

Autumn Serenade Slimline Card Folio Tutorial with Photoplay Meadow’s Glow & Spellbinders

Hello, Friends!  This Autumn Serenade Slimline Card Folio Tutorial is really, truly my final fall project for 2023! I know I said I was “done with fall” yesterday, but that was before I opened up the new Photoplay Meadow’s Glow collection.  Did I need a new pack of autumn papers?  No…I did not.  But when you see how gorgeous these papers are, and how perfectly they work with the  new Spellbinders Autumn Serenade Sunflower Dies, you will understand my weakness.

See what I mean?  If you love autumn hues and images as much as I do, I give you permission to allow these papers to fall into your shopping cart, too!

TIP: Add extra depth and dimension to your card background with stamps.  I used the Spellbinders Autumn Serenade Clear Stamp to add text and ink blots to the cream background on my designer papers.  We’ll do this together in the tutorial, too.

Making the Sunflower

You simply will not believe how easy it is to make this layered sunflower!  We’ll do it together in the video tutorial,

TIP: Die cut your flower petals, leaves and stem from two different patterned papers to create a richly hued sunflower.

A Peek Inside

Here’s how to build this slimline card folio base:

  • First, score an 11″ x 8 1/2″ piece of heavy brown cardstock at 4″, 4 1/2″ and * 1/2″.
  • Line the front and inside panels with 3 7/8″ x 8 3/8″ panels of Gold My Color cardstock.  Then choose 3 5/8″ x 8 1/8″ panels of patterned papers to go over the cardstock.
  • You will need (2) 2 1/8″ x 8 7/8″ panels of patterned paper to line the flap page.
  • Cut a row of (4) 3×4 images and score between the images.  Accordion fold so that the sunflower journal card is on the front.  Adhere 1/2″ of the back panel to the flap page.  Hold everything closed with a tiny hinge clip.

You can see the accordion pull out here.  Aren’t the images lovely?  I’m so glad they give you two of each sheet in the paper pack!

Stamp a sentiment and some images on the inside flap.  The pocket on the right is made with the offcut from the center panel.  Just add gussets to the back and you’ve got a pocket!

The center panel is easy to decorate: just add a chipboard sentiment. Mat a tag sticker on a scrap of patterned paper and insert in the pocket.

Pumpkin Spice Tea Wallet

Create a tea wallet by scoring a 3 1/2″ x 12″ strip of Ginger cardstock at 5 1/2″ and 11″.  The one inch overhang becomes a pocket for your teabag.

Stamp on a panel of cream cardstock, but leave room to write your greeting.  This card folio would make a lovely hostess gift for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Spellbinders Autumn Wonder Envelope Pocket Card Tutorial

Spellbinders Autumn Wonder Envelope Pocket Card Tutorial-Carta Bella Fall Fun-Envelope Punch Board-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Spellbinders Autumn Wonder Envelope Pocket Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  It’s Make & Take Tuesday, and I’m here to share this Spellbinders Autumn Wonder Envelope Pocket Card Tutorial with you.   It’s bursting with fall colors, die cut images, florals and all the things we love the most about fall.

Spellbinders recently released their Envelope of Wonder dies, and I could not resist purchasing the Autumn Wonder set.  All the pretty fall leaves, pumpkins, mushrooms, foliage, acorns and squash just called my name.  I’ve been waiting for a free moment to play with this set, and today is it!

Instead of using the Envelope of Wonder Die to create my envelope pocket, I pulled out my trusty envelope punch board.  Part of today’s tutorial will show you how to create a 5″ x 4″ envelope pocket and then line it.  If you have the die, you can skip that part of the tutorial.  But if you’ve always wanted to know how to create and line a custom envelope, I think you’ll enjoy the process.

Fall Fun

My envelope and my card are made with Carta Bella Fall Fun patterned papers.  The envelope pocket sits on a 6×6 kraft card base that I’ve dressed up with patterns and solids from the collection. One of the things that drew me to the Autumn Wonder die set was the fact that I could cut the shapes from scraps.  And you all know how I feel about using up my scraps.

A Peek Inside

The inside of the card features a flap page and a pocket.

You’ll learn how to make this clever pocket and hidden journaling card in the video tutorial, too.

Of course, there has to be a little tea wallet to go with the honey stick that is in the envelope pocket.

And of course the tea has to be Pumpkin Spice.  Anything else would be wrong!

If you’d like to see how this sweet fall card came together, I hope you’ll enjoy this video tutorial.

Suddenly I feel the need for a steaming mug of pumpkin  chai!
