This 4.25″ x 6 folio is made from a 6″ x 12″ strip of heavy white cardstock.

First I covered the folio with designer papers.  Then I needed to create a closure mechanism. Ribbon almost always provides the solution here!  It adds extra color, texture, and pattern to any project.  I applied 3 strips of 1/2″ Scor-tape around the front, spine and back of the folio. Then I created a belly band.   I placed a layer of Mixed Purple Bold Chevron Striped Grosgrain Ribbon on top, and a layer of Mixed Purple Bold Diagonal Stripe Grosgrain Ribbon on the bottom.   Delphinium Diamond Satin Ribbon fills the center and extends out from the edges to form a bow closure.

Next I layered fussy cut images from Midnight Masquerade up with a garden full of pretty purple posies.

I added a fold out flap on the right hand side of the album,

The border strip on the center panel holds this pretty tag folio to hold photos.  I’ve topped it with more of the Delphinium Diamond Satin Ribbon and a snippet of Mixed Purple Triangle Print Grosgrain Ribbon.

The side pocket holds a smaller tri fold photo wallet.

Magical Midnight Masquerade Bendi Card Centerpiece

Graphic 45 Magical Midnight Masquerade Bendi Card Centerpiece: Savor Life and All Its Magic

Hello, G’45er’s!  Do you ever use your gorgeous G45 papers to create party centerpieces?  I made this Magical Midnight Masquerade Bendi Card Centerpiece with parties in mind!  If you’re hosting a prom party, a graduation party, birthday party or even a bridal shower, I think this vibrant and whimsical design would be a real conversation starter!

The inspiration for this project was that gorgeous ball gown on the 12×12 signature page of Midnight Masquerade.  I wanted to find a way to display that would capture all its wonderful detail.  To do this, I needed a base that would be larger than the basic bendi card design.  (You can find a link to the basic design HERE.)  This took a  llttle “mathing” but was not terribly difficult.  (Sadly, I forgot to write down what I did…so I’ll have to work another of these fun centerpieces up so I can share the numbers with you!)

Tips and Tricks for Magical Midnight Masquerade Bendi Card Centerpiece

If you loved to play with paper dolls when you were little, then this collection is your dream come true.  Midnight Masquerade is loaded with gorgeous ball gowns, fantastical flowers and  fabulous masks.  You’ll need a really sharp pair of fussy cutting scissors to create this centerpiece.  I found that my tiny Tim Holtz snips worked very well.  I inked all my edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink to cover up any raw paper edges.

To create the dimensional skirt on the ballgown,  I gently shaped the skirt with the edge of my ruler.  When the paper began to curl, I glued just the outside edges to the base, pushing them toward the center.  Hold in place for a few seconds until the glue dries.

Use extra heavy cardstock for your card base so that it will hold up under the weight of the designer paper.  I also glued the ends of my bendi flaps in place to secure them.  Normally, you would leave the bendi flaps unattached  so that the card can be folded shut.  But since I was making a centerpiece instead of a card, I chose to glue the flaps in place.

Layer fussy cut flowers with dimensional flowers for extra fullness.

Add height to your creation by layering the fussy cut sentiment at the very top of the card base.

Use border pieces and sentiments to add text, color and drama to your centerpiece. I backed these elements with metallic cardstock for even more glitter and shine.

Magical Masquerade Ball Invitation with Graphic 45

Graphic 45 Midnight Masquerade Magical Masquerade Ball Invitation

Hello, Friends!  Today I get to share one of the projects I made for CHA/Creativation back in January.  For this Magical Masquerade Ball Invitation I combined Graphic 45’s mesmerizing new Midnight Masquerade collection with fabulous purple organza ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Magical Masquerade Ball Invitation, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 1Ooh-la-la!  Take a look at these fabulous colors and images! That purple ribbon just pops against the vibrant patterns in this collection.  I topped the bow with gold metallic string and a fancy button from my stash. Let’s look at the details.

Magical Masquerade Ball Invitation, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 2This paper collection has a wonderful dream-like quality to it.  Because of that, I wanted to make my images appear as though they were floating on clouds of flowers.

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card

Graphic 45 Sneak Peeks Day 9: Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card

Hello again, G 45’ers!  It’s Day 9 of Sneak Peeks over at the fabulous Graphic 45 Blog.  Today they are featuring the fanciful, mysterious and oh so fun Midnight Masquerade collection.  This collection is filled with whimsy, vibrant colors and a real playful vibe.  I took one look and thought, “Why not make a shaker card?”  And that’s how this Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker card came into being.

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 1 See what I mean?  It’s perfect for Mardi Gras parties, prom parties, and shaker cards, of course!

The making of a shaker card

I’ve only made a few shaker cards, but I found a wonderful new product that makes quick work of the process.  It’s call Kool Tac Double Sided Clear Foam. In the past, I’ve sewn my shaker cards together, which is not so easy.  But using this foam with clear acetate sheets makes quick work of the job.

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 2First I cut my 4×6 focal image from the designer paper.  Next I ran the clear foam tape all around the perimeter.  Then I filled the cavity with beads, sequins  and glitter.  Peel off the top layer of the tape and place your cut acetate sheet over top, being careful to line up all the edges.  Burnish with a bone folder and voila!  You’re done!

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 3Each image is featured twice in the paper collection, which allows you to frame the shaker portion of the card.  I used my ruler and craft knife to carefully cut the frame away from the inside image.  Then I used glossy accents to secure it to the top of the shaker.  (Glossy accents works well on non-porous surfaces like acetate.)  Since the feet were printed into the frame, I fussy cut some flowers to cover them up.  I also added more fussy cut flowers to the sides.  It really only took a few minutes and it looks so great, don’t you think?

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 4What could possibly be more fun than a shaker card?  Well, how about a shaker/easel card?  Yeah, I think so, too!  This time I used a flower/bow cluster as the stopper.  I also mounted a fussy cut postage stamp that is propped up on dimensionals just for fun.

Take a Look Inside

Midnight Masquerade Birthday Shaker Card, Midnight Masquerade, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 6Remember the frame we cut from the second image?  I went back and fussy cut the dancing lady from the inner portion and placed her above my flower cluster.  It’s hard to tell here, but she’s propped up with foam dimensionals.  I also added another fussy cut stamp on either side.

So, what do you think of Midnight Masquerade?  To be honest with you, I was not at all sure about this collection when I opened my box.  I rarely work with such bright colors.  But almost as soon as I started working with it, I fell in love with it.  It has such a fun, playful vibe and it’s so warm and cheery.  I ended up making more samples with this collection than any other.  Funny, isn’t it?

To see more of this collection, pop on over to the Graphic 45 blog today.  And be sure to leave a comment as they are giving away a lovely prize package.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on this Midnight Masquerade Easel Card in the comment section below.
