Lush Lilacs and Pretty Spring Flowers Tutorial for March 2024 Flower of the Month

Hello, Friends!  Spring is in full bloom and I have a Lush Lilacs and Pretty Spring Flowers Tutorial to help us celebrate!  Yes, it’s time for our March 2024 Flower of the Month Tutorial.  We’re having a blooming big party with Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac Dies, Spellbinders Pretty Flowers Die, Prima In Full Bloom papers and paper pretties from Reneabouquets.

Oh, and there are bees,  a shaker frame, and a Tea Party in a Box, too.  Talk about pulling out all the stops!  Let’s take a closer look at this cheery 5″ x 7 creation, shall we?

Mixed Media and Mixed Florals, Too

Flower of the Month Tutorial-Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac-Spellbinders Pretty Flowers-Prima In Full Bloom-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design-Photo

Prima In Full Bloom collection offers some truly lovely color palettes.  Once again, I decided to go with the yellow and purple hues to match my Reneabouquets Lavender Lilac Heart Frame.  Then I got busy creating some handmade florals to embellish the pretty frame.  Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilacs and these Amazing Paper Grace “Pretty Flowers” both went well with the bee/lilac theme that I could not choose between the two. So I made them both!

A Peek Inside

Sometimes I think I enjoy creating the inside of my cards as much as I do the outsides.  There are so many opportunities here to add little surprises and interactive elements.  How about a bee-utiful bee journal card on the flap of a flip page?  That’s fun, right?

It’s even more fun if you turn that journal card into a pocket that holds a packet of wild flower seeds, isn’t it?   There’s also loads of room here to add a sweet little note or a photo.

Tea Party in a Box

The box pocket holds a lovely tea party for one.  It starts with a dressed up packet of  Biscoff Cookies.  Then I tucked a  Lady Grey Tea Bag & Ghirardelli Chocolate into a tiny handmade envelope, tied it with ribbon, and topped it with a tag.  Of course, there’s a spoon to stir one’s cup and a pretty little honey stick to sweeten the tea.  Now that’s what I call a sweet surprise.

If you’ve never made a box pocket before, you can find a tutorial HERE

Important Announcement

I want to  let you all know that I will be changing my video tutorial schedule.  With the expected arrival of a new grandbaby, and an increase in family weekend activities, I am finding it hard to maintain my Make & Take Tuesday and Throwback Thursday video schedule.

So…Make & Take Tuesday is moving to Wonderful Wednesday!  This gives me an extra day to prepare after a busy weekend.  We will still follow our 2024 schedule of Tag of the Month, Banner of the Month, Birthday Card of the Month and Flower of the Month tutorials.  If there’s a 5th Wednesday, I’ll toss in a wild card tutorial for something fun.

Throwback Thursdays videos will be taking their final bow, however.  I simply cannot keep up with 2 video tutorials each and every week.  I’ll pop in with a 2nd video here and there as time allows, of course.

These changes will go into effect starting in April.  Thanks so much for your kind understanding.

Deluxe Easter Tea Party in a Box for RRR Blog Hop with Prima In Full Bloom

Hello, Friends!  This Deluxe Easter Tea Party in a Box is my inspiration piece for the Really Reasonable Ribbon March 2024 Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from Gloria’s lovely blog.   Our theme this month is “springtime or Easter” so I created this Deluxe Easter Tea Party in a Box to share with you.  It’s all decked out in pretty springtime ribbons, trims and flowers from the RRR shop.

Life in the Garden

Really Reasonable Ribbon-Prima In Full Bloom-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

You never know what you will find when you take a stroll through the garden.  Perhaps a lovely butterfly will flutter amidst the blossoms, A sweet little bird might serenade you on your stroll.  I’ve tried to capture the joy of the springtime garden in this sweet double sided box pocket card.

Lavender Seam Binding Ribbon, Iridescent Metallic String,  and a white Chrysanthemum dress up the top of the 6 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ box pocket card.  The top of the box pocket is trimmed with Light Pink Ric-Rack, a throwback to my childhood Easter baskets.  A nosegay of sweet spring flowers nestles on a chipboard doily.  (I’ll link to all the supplies below this post.)

The Flip Side

Time for tea?  You’ll find everything you need at a tea party for one on the flip side of this double-sided pocket card.  I’ve even included a seed packet of wildflowers to plant in a garden plot or urn. Buttercup Double Face Satin Ribbon tops the bee themed bookmark and serves as the ribbon closure for my mini folio.

If you’d like to see all the details of this project, please join me on my YouTube channel for a project walk through.

On With the Hop!

Charm of a Garden Slimline Card Folio

Prima Life in Full Bloom-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Spellbinders Queen Anne's Lace-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Charm of a Garden Slimline Card Folio with Prima In Full Bloom for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  How adorable is this Charm of a Garden Slimline Card Folio?  What fun I had creating this lovely little springtime garden scene with Prima In Full Bloom paper collection.  I dressed it all up with lovely trims and spring florals from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

You may recognize the  Queen Anne’s Lace from our February Flower of the Month tutorial.  I had one extra bloom left, and it worked perfectly with this design.  It’s so pretty with that Coral Rose Mini Check Bow tucked behind it.

Pink and yellow are a beautiful color combination for springtime, so I created a border on the left hand side using both the Coral Rose Mini Check and Buttercup Double Faced Satin Ribbon.  Then I brought in a white sweetheart blossom, Mixed Pastel Magnolia blossom and a lovely  Mixed Pink Trellis Rose from the RRR shop.

A Peek Inside

Ribbon plays an important role inside this sweet card, too.  Pink Seam Binding acts as the closure for the double waterfall folio on the top of the card.

And it also helps to dress up a cute little tag that’s inside the pocket. Did you spy the darling little enamel bunny charm on the tag?  Be still my heart!

I hope the weather where you are is warming up enough that you can get out and dig in the dirt.  It’s such good therapy to be out in the sunshine under God’s blue sky.  Speaking of which, I need to go get my little back yard flower bed spruced up for spring!
