His and Hers Birthday Card Folios with Authentique Party

His and Hers Birthday Card Folios with Authentique Party

Hello, Friends!  It seems that no matter how many birthday cards I make, I still need to make more!  So when Authentique Paper released their fabulous new Party Collection, I was nearly giddy with joy!  Just like a present at a birthday party, I ripped the pack open and went to work creating these fun His and Hers Birthday Card Folios.

Party is a celebration on paper!  Bursting with vibrant color, retro images, playful patterns and sassy sentiments, it’s just pure fun to create with it!  Both these cards measure 5.25″ x 7.25″.  I added an extra score line to each base to create a spine that would allow for goodies to be tucked inside each folio.

His and Hers Birthday Card Folios: A Party Without Cake?  Never!

Hooray for inspiration!  It makes life so much easier!

How to Create the Party Cake Focal

Here’s how I created the focal for this party pretty card.

  • First, fussy cut the cake image from Party Eight.  Don’t worry about trimming between the candles.  Add foam tabs or dimensionals to the back side of the fussy cut image.
  • Fussy cut the floral clusters from Party Six.  Back with dimensionals.
  • Next, add foam tabs or other dimensionals to the back side of the cake image.  (I cut up the Priority Mail boxes that my design team allotments are shipped in or other waste chipboard.)
  • Die cut a doily from white cardstock.  This is a Prima doily die, but you can use any doily from your stash.  I don’t recommend using a thin paper doily, however, as it won’t work in this application.
  • Cut the black polka dot paper from Party Six with Spellbinders Small Standard Circles Die (#5). Adhere this to the center of the doily.  Back the center of the doily with more foam tabs/dimensionals.

  • Now dress this cake up for the party by adding Diamond Stickles to the icing on the top layer and in the center of the cake layers.
  • While the Stickles are still wet, sprinkle the top of the cake with TuTu Pink Prills
  • Arrange the fussy cut flower clusters around the base of the plate, and adhere to the card.

Party for Her: A peek Inside

This stamped sentiment is the perfect match up for this card!

I also tucked in a little gift card holder with room to write a personal note.

The fact that this collection can be used to create cards for guys and gals makes me really happy!

His and Hers Birthday Card Folios Party by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 11Meet Dapper Dan the Birthday Man!  LOL  Don’t you just love his natty teal birthday suit?  Since the Party Collection Kit comes with the Details Stickers and Components Die Cuts,  I was able to add some fun accents to both cards.

The “Best Wishes” sentiment banner and the “Let’s Party” Banner Flag are from the Components Die Cut Elements sheet and the Details Sticker Sheet.    I fussy cut the “Aged to Perfection” image from Party Seven, then tucked it behind the fussy cut image from Party One.

There’s a party going on inside this birthday card, too.  I die cut a gift card holder and added it to the top half of the card.

Then I created a cute chocolate wallet for the large pocket on the bottom.  It takes a really secure man to wear a pointy pink party hat!  LOL

Here’s a peeky at the inside of the chocolate wallet.

Dear Old Dad Father’s Day Gift Wallet

Dear Old Dad Father’s Day Gift Wallet with Authentique “Dapper” Collection

Hello, Friends!  It’s always hard to know what to get Dad for Father’s Day…or birthday…or Christmas for that matter!  But today I have a project that I think every dad will absolutely love. I’ve created this Dear Old Dad Father’s Day Gift Wallet using Authentique’s “Dapper” collection. The images, patterns and colors are perfectly retro, wonderfully whimsical and fabulously fun.

See what I mean about these papers?  They just capture that retro vibe so well!  If your Dad loves puzzles, then he’ll love the design of this album.  Although it only measures 4″ x 4″ x 1/2″, it opens up to 12″ wide x 15″ long.  Filled with interactive elements like pockets, tags, fold outs and flip pages, the design meshes perfectly with the playful feel of these fun papers.

I created a belly band with ribbon and a large vintage button from my stash to decorate the top of the album.  The button echoes the design of the LP album in the focal image, which makes me very happy indeed.

I used a Velcro closure instead of magnets as the paper is thick and I was afraid a magnet would not close.

Don’t you just love these images and the sassy captions?

Each of these decorative panels flips open to reveal photo mounts or hidden journaling spots.

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial

Be YOU tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  I’m so excited about today’s blog post.  I’ve been a fan of Authentique paper for some time now, and guess what?  I’ve been asked to share a few guest designer posts on the Authentique blog over the course of the next few months.  Woo-hoo!  To get the ball rolling, I’ve created this Be YOU tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial to share with you today.  If retro colors, prints and images are your “thing”, I think you’re really gonna love this one!

What do you get when you combine hot pink, black, aqua, cream and red?  Fabulous, that’s what!  This collection is so well named because every single element is truly fabulous.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 2The 5″ x 7″ album base is created from two sheets of 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock.  It’s such a quick and easy make that I just know  you’ll want to make one as soon as you finish reading this post.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 3This hot pink and black woven ribbon makes such a sassy closure for the album.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 4A 1″ thick spine means that there’s lots of room inside for fun, interactive pages.  Here’s a quick look at them.

This 3″ x 4″ journal card is a double fold out.  First, tell the story on this journal card, then flip the image open to reveal a two page folio just waiting for photos.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 6Flip the page over, and you’ll find this large pocket filled with sassy retro Journal tags.  I also turned a sticker into a fun, interactive file folder.  To the right of the pocket, there’s a waterfall feature.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 7Each page in the waterfall is 3.25″ square.  Glue just the edges of your embellishments and stickers so that photos can be slipped behind them.

But Wait, There’s More!

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 8Still want more space for photos and journaling?  Then flip the waterfall page open and you’ll find twin 3.5″ pockets filled with even more fun.

Be YOU Tiful Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Folio Tutorial by Kathy Clement Photo 9Once again, I’ve used the journal cards and patterned paper to create smaller photo mounts.

Authentique “Fabulous” Retro Style Birthday Card

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card for RRR

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  March is nearly over!  How did that happen so fast?  I have one last Really Reasonable Ribbon March Ribbon Club project to share with you.  My sweet sister in law had a birthday this month, and I made this retro style birthday card especially for her.  Becky is one of my favorite people in the whole world.  She has the greatest laugh, tells the best stories, and throws the best parties ever!  So I went “all out” on this fun “If the Crown Fits, Wear It!” card.

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 1Isn’t this a fun color palette?  It takes me back to the 50’s!  Tropic Taffeta Ribbon steals the show on this fun card made with Authentique’s Fabulous paper collection. Ivory Burlap string makes the greatest loopy bows and I just can’t seem to stop using it!

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 2This is one of my famous “chunky” cards.  In fact, it was so chunky, I had to devise a magnetic closure to keep it shut!  To dress up the closure, I added some cute wood icons.  Becky and I share a private joke about coffee and doughnuts.

A Peek Inside this retro style birthday card

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 3I really had a ball on the inside of this retro style birthday card.  You’ll find 2 pockets filled with birthday goodies.

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 4Do you ever get lost in the details when you are creating?  Yeah, that happens to me all the time.  But I’m kind of glad I followed the muse this time, because I super love these little tags tied onto the tiny clothes hanger.  Are they cute or what?

Authentique Fabulous Retro Style Birthday Card by Kathy Clement for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 5For the large pocket, I stamped a series of birthday wishes onto primitive white cardstock.  Then I added a little doodle art to the edges and text.  Next I matted the wishes on pretty teal cardstock.

Remember poodle skirts?  This cute little 3×4 journal tag is matted and backed with magnetic paper so that Becky can display it on her fridge. And there has to be chocolate in the pocket of this retro style birthday card or it wouldn’t be from me!

This was such a fun card to make, and Becky loved receiving it in the mail.  There is just nothing as personal as receiving a hand made card in the mail on your birthday.  I even managed to get it there on time!
