P13 Sea la Vie Mixed Media Collage Tutorial for Make & Take Tuesday
Hello, Friends! Would you like to join me down by the sea for this P13 Sea la Vie Mixed Media Collage Tutorial? We can dig our toes into the sand, let the beach breeze blow the cobwebs out of our brain, and maybe even pick up a few treasures as we stroll along the shore. Can’t make it to the beach today? Me, either! But playing with beachy papers is the next best thing! We’re going to have loads of fun together anyway as we create this lovely wall hanging.
When I spied this collection back in February, I knew I had to add it to my stash! It combines two of my favorite things: a beachy theme and a red, white and blue color palette. The papers arrived last week, and I could not wait to pull out my fussy cutting scissors and get busy! This 6″ x 8″ mixed media collage was the end result.
Lighthouse by the Sea
Lighthouses always win my heart…and this image with the keeper’s cottage at its base is so dreamy and delightful. I’ve nestled it amidst some pretty blue flowers that I dry brushed with white chalk paint, scattered shells and soaring sea gulls. (OK…true confession…these are not seagulls. They are doves. But we can pretend, can’t we? )
Salt-Sprayed Seahorse
Spattered white chalk paint lends the illusion of salt spray on this handsome seahorse. In the video tutorial, you’ll get to see how I layered all these elements together to create a sense of depth and dimension.
A Bottle Full of Shells
Real sea shells and sea sand draw the eye to this sweet little bottle of shells that I tucked into the collage. Don’t you just love a red, white and blue beach collection?
