Hello Pink Autumn Shaker Box Folio

Prima Hello Pink Autumn-Shaker Box Folio-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Reneabouquets-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Prima Hello Pink Autumn Shaker Box Folio with Really Reasonable Ribbon & Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  This Prima Hello Pink Autumn Shaker Box Folio probably looks familiar.  That’s because it’s the same design as the Simple Stories The Little Things Shaker Box Folio Tutorial that I shared with you earlier this month.  I had such fun making that one, that I had to take the design out for another spin.  This time I used fall papers, pretty autumn trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon and some gorgeous Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board.

It’s so fun to see  how changing up the papers and the color palette give this sweet box folio design a completely different look.

You can follow the same video tutorial when making this version of the box.  Add a real autumnal vibe with Brown and Cream Tartan Ribbon and Pumpkin Baker’s Twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Isn’t it amazing how changing up the color scheme gives this project a totally new look?

A Peek Inside

I don’t know about you, but I love the dusty rose and chocolate brown color combination.

And I love the fall imagery: mushrooms, pumpkins, gourds, and falling leaves makes me so happy.

What’s in the Pockets?

Yes, I made two pockets for this version of the card.  There is the large box pocket filled with cookies, honey stick, tea wallet and chocolate (the weather has finally cooled down!). and a fun little luggage tag.  Then I also made a very simple pocket with some of my scraps and tucked in a couple more small tags.

I must have had tags on the brain, because the card is loaded with them.

The luggage tag has two die cut slots in it so I can tuck in the cute itty bitty tags. It’s actually matted onto a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ mini card base.  So there’s room inside to write a personal greeting.  You could also tuck a gift card in to the slots, so that’s fun, too.

I know some of you are not fans of pink on an autumn project.  But I love it because it reminds me of my sweet mom, who would have painted the whole world pink given the opportunity.  This is her birthday week, and she would have been 101 years old on Friday.  She would have given this Hello Pink Autumn card her seal of approval, and that’s good enough for me.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Friendship Rose Shaker Card

My inspiration piece for the hop is this 5 1/2″ square shaker card made with the Friendship Rose collection.  Here’s how to put the card base together:

  • First, score a 5 1/2″ x 11″ panel of heavy white cardstock in half at 5 1/2″.
  • Next, trim a 6×6 card front from the paper collection to 5 3/8″.
  • Then mat it on a 5 1/2″ square of black cardstock.
  • Now thread thin pink gingham ribbon through the openings of a piece of heart lace.  Place Scor-Tape along the base of the panel, leaving the ends of the lace and the Scor-Tape slightly longer than the width of the panel.
  • Next, wrap the ends of the lace and the tape behind the panel.  This leaves a neat clean edge on your card.  Finish by topping the lace border with little pink heart buttons.
The Shaker Element

This heart frame is soooo beautiful!  Here’s how I turned it into a shaker element.

  • First, die cut the Budding Rose Heart from heavy pink cardstock.
  • Next, stamp the matching cling stamp on white cardstock using Versamark ink.
  • Then sprinkle Stampendous Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel over the stamped image and heat set.
  • Now, die cut the embossed frame using the Budding Rose Heart die.
  • Add more color to the heart by swiping it through a puddle of Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberries Distress Ink.  Heat dry again.
  • Now adhere clear cardstock to the back of the heart and trim around it.
  • Then add 3 rows of 1/8″ foam strips to the back of the heart.
  • Next, trim patterned paper to back the heart.  Trace around the heart to get the general shape.
  • Place your shaker mix in the center of the heart and press the prepared frame over it.  Trim away any excess patterned paper from the back if necessary.

The Details

In a hurry?  Go through your stash of “leftover” flowers and find a trio that match your project!  These 3 flowers are actually made using the (now retired) Under the Sea flower stamps and dies.  But they were a perfect match for this project, so I used them! Tie a gingham bow and tuc it in behind the flowers to anchor them.

Stamp the Friendship Rose Sentiment on a die cut circle tag.  Heat emboss to really make it pop! Then attach it to the base of the shaker frame with more ribbon and a sweet little heart charm.

A Peek Inside

Add a pocket inside your card so you can tuck in a chocolate treat and a tag.  Everyone loves surprises!

Cut a trio of card fronts to serve as a folio on the top half of the card.  Accordion fold between the images and wrap it with ribbon before you adhere it to the base card.

Add small photos or little love notes to the card fronts to create a thoughtful and unique card that doubles as a gift.

On With the Hop!

Here’s the list of all the blogs participating in the hop this month.  Remember to leave a comment as you visit so you can be entered into the drawing for one of the $25 gift cards.

Layered Stitched Diamond Shaker Card Tutorial

Spellbinders Layered Stitched Diamond Shaker Card with Carta Bella Welcome Fall and Reneabouquets by Kathy Clement Photo 01

Carta Bella Welcome Fall Layered Stitched Diamond Shaker Card Tutorial with Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  It’s Make & Take Tuesday, and I have a delightfully different Layered Stitched Diamond Shaker Card Tutorial to share with you.  Are you ready to get your craft on?

Spellbinders Layered Stitched Diamond Die

Although the Layered Stitched Diamond Die is part of Spellbinders Holiday Stitching Release, I wanted to use it in a fall project.  Why?  Well, because I had just purchased Carta Bella’s gorgeous new “Welcome Fall” collection.

It was very easy to modify this die to suit  my purposes.

  • First, die cut the outer frame and main die from orange metallic cardstock.
  • Next, use your craft knife to cut out the small rectangle piece that is attached in the center of the die cut.

TIP: If you have a glass cutting mat, or an old piece of glass from a picture frame, use that as your cutting surface.  A craft knife glides more easily when you are cutting over glass.  This gives you a cleaner cut.

  • Now cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of clear cardstock (acetate sheet or window sheet).
  • Adhere this to the back side of the die cut frame.
  • Then add 3 layers of 1/8″ foam strips around the back side of the prepared die cut panel.
  • Next, cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of plaid paper from Welcome Fall.  Adhere the “Hello, Fall” ephemera circle in the top half of the plaid panel.
  • Finally, place your shaker mix in the center of the plaid panel, center up the prepared shaker frame and press in place to seal.
Delightful Details

You have probably noticed that I did not stitch a thing on this frame.  That’s because the etched lines on the metallic paper looked so fabulous that I did not wish to cover them up.  The lines are meant to be a guide for stitching on the card.  But it’ s OK if you don’t stitch!  The frame still looks amazing!

Dress the frame up with a gorgeous fall pumpkin from Reneabouquets.  Then tuck in some leaves, create a bow cluster, and add some sweet copper acorns to finish the card front.  So simple, but so pretty!

A Peek Inside

Naturally, I created a pocket inside the card.

Then I created a little 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ photo folio and a bookmark to tuck into the pocket.  So many families take portraits in the fall that I thought it would be nice to create a special spot for one.

Layered Stitched Diamond Shaker Card Tutorial on YouTube

Here’s a little step by step tutorial to help you put this card together.  We start with a tour of the paper collection and a good look at the Spellbinders die.  Then I show you how to create a 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ top fold base using 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock.  After that, we are off to the races!  I hope you enjoy!

Decorative Dragonfly Shaker Card

Heartfelt Creations Decorative Dragonfly Shaker Card by Kathy Clement Photo 01

If summertime has not arrived in your part of the world yet, it will soon.  To get you ready for those warm and sunny days, I created this 6×6 shaker card using the Decorative Dragonfly Collection.  What a gorgeous collection this is, and I certainly had a great time playing with it!

All these deep shades of blue and purple needed a pop of white, so I created my shaker frame using the Leafy Borders Die.

  • First, die cut the 4 sides of the frame from white cardstock.
  • Next, apply Dries Clear Glitter Glue to the pieces and dust with Crystal Clear Glitter.
  • Now, mat the frame pieces on pearlized white cardstock and trim to a 6″ square.
  • Then use a ruler and a craft knife to cut out the opening for the shaker frame.
  • Back the frame with clear cardstock and 3 rows of foam tape.
  • Now you can place your shaker mix in the center of the 6×6 card front and press the frame in place.
Decorative Dragonfly Tips &Details

TIP: Short on time?  Use the Dragonfly Florals and Daydream Florals dies to cut images directly from the paper pad.  This means no coloring is required, and saves time!

TIP: Add a bit of sparkle by tapping Dries Clear Adhesive over the die cut florals.  Then sprinkle with Crystal Clear.  To add extra texture and dimension, you can sprinkle some Prills over the flowers, too!

Add a simple sentiment to the card by stamping on a die cut circle charm from the paper collection.  Dress the charm up with a little metal dragonfly and a sweet seam binding bow!

TIP: Small buttons and glass beads are a fun addition to a shaker mix!  Look through your stash and look for buttons and beads that go with the paper collection.

A Peek Inside

You can turn this card into a gift by adding flap page and a box pocket to the design.

The flap page is a nice spot to add a couple of photos, poems or a personal note.

The box pocket gives you room to tuck in a sweet vintage demitasse spoon, chocolate treat, “gift wrapped” cookie, tea bag wallet and honey stick for the tea.  I’ve also tucked in a sweet little ribbon tied  photo folio.

This is so easy to do!  Simply cut out a row of the 4×6 card images from the paper collection.  Then score between the images and accordion fold.  Photos can be matted on the back side of the card fronts, and journaling can be added on the front.

On With the Hop!

Now hop on over and see what paper pretties Carole has prepared for you to enjoy.  She’ll have the link to the  next blog in the hop.  But I’ve provided a full list below just in case you get lost.

The hop starts here and continues until 11:55 PM EST on Monday, January 31st.  There are TWO Heartfelt Creations $25 Gift Certificates up for grabs: one comment will be randomly chosen from a mystery blog in the hop.  The other comment will be randomly chosen from the Heartfelt Creations Blog.

Now let’s get this party started!

Floral Frames Cozy Cottage Shaker Card Folio

Don’t you want to enjoy a vacation in this cozy cottage?  I used the Rectangular Floral Frames Die to cut the image and frame from the 12×12 Floral Frames paper pad.  Then I turned it into a shaker element for my 5″ x 7″ card.

TIP: Short on time?  Don’t forget to use the wonderful pre-colored images and flowers in the 12×12 paper pad!  Simply place the matching frame or flower die over the image and cut.  This is a huge time saver, and one of my favorite features about the paper pads.

Here’s how to turn this frame into a shaker element for your card:

  • First, die cut the cottage image/frame from the paper pad with the Rectangular Floral Frame Die.  Adhere this to your card front.
  • Next, use Dries Clear Adhesive to glue a piece of clear cardstock to the back of the frame.
  • Now, add 3 layers of 1/8″ foam tape around the inside perimeter on the back side of the frame.
  • Then, place your shaker elements over the cottage image on your card front.  Use a mix of sequins, beads, pearls, buttons and Prills to fill the shaker.
  • Finally, line up the prepared frame over the image and press firmly in place.
Making the Flowers

Heartfelt Creations Floral Frames Shaker Card by Kathy Clement PHoto 01

When it’s time to make the flowers to adorn your frame, simply die cut them directly from the paper pad.  Then shape and stack the layers together.  Use a paint brush to apply a light coat of Dries Clear Adhesive, then cover with Crystal Clear Glitter.  Fill the centers with a mix of Prills.  Dot adhesive on the die cut leaves and sprinkle with Prills to add a pop of color and texture to your card.

A Peek Inside

You can turn a simple card into a lovely gift by adding a little treat pocket.  Then take your design a step further by creating a folio for the top half of the card.

  • First cut a sheet of patterned paper into (2) 12″ x 5 1/2″ strips.
  • Next, overlap the ends of the two panels 1/4″ and adhere together to make one long piece of patterned paper.
  • Now, score along this panel every 4 3/4″.  Then accordion fold to make a little folio.
  • Then adhere a piece of ribbon to the back side of the folio to serve as a closure.
  • Finally, adhere the folio in the center of the top of the card.

Tuck a little tea bag wallet, honey stick, tag and chocolate into the pocket as a special surprise.

Dress up your folio with a little bee charm.

Add photos, hand written notes or inspirational quotes on the folio pages.

Dress up the folio pages with frames or liner pages cut from the paper pad.

Now you’ve turned this card into an itty bitty mini album!  How fun is that?

These card folios make wonderful gifts for special occasions and they are so much fun to make!

On With the Hop!

Now you can visit the rest of the Alumni Team blogs to see what gorgeous inspiration they have in store for you.
