Bees, Bunnies and Blooms Slimline Tea Party in a Box with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  This cheery Bees, Bunnies and Blooms Slimline Tea Party in a Box reminds me that the azaleas will soon be blooming in North Carolina!  I haven’t spotted my first bee yet, but the plum tree is in full bloom, and the crabapple tree promises to burst out any day now.  Spring is such a welcome season and I especially love the beautiful flowers that accompany it.

I’ve wrapped the front of this 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ slimline card with gorgeous White Organza  with a Satin Center Ribbon.  The airy edges of the ribbon add a lovely springtime feeling to the Photoplay Bunnies and Blossoms papers.   And sweet bees from Reneabouquets pick up on the little bees in the blue floral paper.

I’m very fond of the peachy/coral tones of the pretty flowers on this card, too. I’ve added Cosmos Daisies and Cherry Blossoms in with a gorgeous lily that I found in my stash.  Iridescent Metallic String adds another layer of shimmer beneath the blossoms.

Slimline cards provide room for a nice, deep pocket that can hold all kinds of goodies!

I have dressed up a 4-pack of Mixed Berry Zinger tea bags with scraps of pretty paper from the collection.  Then I gift wrapped a package of Biscoff cookies, tossed in a little chocolate, a honey stick and a vintage demitasse spoon to complete the tea party.  Use stickers to add a pop of color to the blank sentiment card that also fits in the pocket.

I’m so enjoying my spring papers and spring flowers!  Have you started creating for spring yet?  It will be here before we know it!

Photoplay Showers & Flowers Slimline Waterfall Card Tutorial for Make & Take Tuesday

Hello, Friends!  It’s grey, cold and gloomy here in North Carolina, so I thought we’d make this cheery Photoplay Showers & Flowers Slimline Waterfall Card today.  Let’s face it: sometimes  you have to make your own sunshine!  This vibrant new collection is the perfect way to chase away the winter blues!

This 3 5/8″ x 8 5/8″ slimline card base is made with Photoplay’s new Slimline Waterfall Card Kit.  What an easy way to  make a waterfall card! Although the card kit features the waterfall on the outside of the card, I decided to turn things “inside out.”  If you join me for the tutorial, you’ll see how simple Photoplay has made it to construct this kinetic card.

How fun to find this darling waterfall element waiting inside the card!  And don’t you just love these bold colors and happy patterned papers? Grey skies?  What grey skies?  My studio is filled with springtime sunshine right now!

What do you say we make this sweet springtime card together?  You can follow along in this YouTube video tutorial.

There are no daffodils in my part of the world yet, but I do see the buds on our plum tree growing fatter with each passing day.  And, there are Robins in the back yard, so spring cannot be too terribly far behind.  Until it arrives, I’ll think I’ll keep this paper collection handy!

Prima My Sweet Slimline Accordion Folio Tutorial for Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends! It’s the first Throwback Thursday of 2023, and I have a lovely little Prima My Sweet Slimline Accordion Folio Tutorial to share with you.  Yes, I am running late…still trying to get back on track after the holiday break.  But better late than never, right?

What it is about the colder months that makes me want to create sewing themed projects?  As I was searching through the Closet of Inspiration and Delight, my eye fell on this lovely My Sweet collection from Prima.  All those button cards sealed the deal for me, and I decided to create a slimline folio tutorial for my first Throwback Thursday of 2023.  I’ll share the first half of the vieo tutorial with you today, and then the second part next week.

The folio base measures 4 1/4″ x 8″ x 1/2″.  Once I was finished making it, I wished I had scored a 3/4″ or even a 1″ spine to accommodate all the layers inside.  So bear that in mind when you make your base and score accordingly.  Thankfully, I added a ribbon closure that holds everything together nicely.

Sewing Ephemera Extravaganza!

Oh, but I did have fun pulling out all kinds of sewing embellishments and ephemera for this project!

A Peek Inside

One of the things I enjoyed while making this slimline folio was the opportunity to use up scraps left from previous My Sweet projects. I also found lots of ways to use up the little bits and bobs of pretty paper.  Some were turned into pockets, some into tags and some into embellishments.

I think you will enjoy learning how to create this simple accordion fold folio base in today’s tutorial.  Once we’ve made the base, we’ll create about half of the inside pages together.  Next week, we’ll work on the inside pages and the cover.

This interactive folio does have room for quite a few photos, but it’s also lovely as a lap book.

And of course it is filled with all kinds of flips and flaps…and even some fun surprises that you’ll see next week!

If you ‘d like to follow along and learn how to create this pretty little folio base, I hope you’ll enjoy this YouTube tutorial.

Remember, you don’t have to use these papers to make your folio.  Anything you have in your stash that you love will work out just fine.

So do your “homework” and get this first part of the folio made this week.  Then we’ll finish the job next week.  Sound like a plan?
