Stamperia Family Card Folio Tutorial:  A Use Your Scraps Project

Hello, Friends!  Today I have a sweet little Stamperia Family Card Folio Tutorial that is loaded with ways to use up your paper scraps.  Is it just me, or has the price of designer papers gone up a LOT lately?  Because of this phenomenon, I find I want to use every last bit of paper that I possibly can.  How about you?

You can use this card folio design with any paper scraps that you happen to have in your stash.  It’s loaded with interactive features that make it extra fun to open.  And, there’s lots of room for photos and journaling in the design.

Sound good?  Then I hope you’ll read on to find out all about it!

Interactive Card Front

Surprises make me happy.  So I designed this gatefold card front to sit on a side fold card base.  That’s a fun surprise, isn’t it?  The gates are made from scraps of designer paper.  Simply score flaps that adhere behind the base panel, and you’ve got the first surprise in place.

Next surprise?  How about a Graphic 45 Regular Tag Die and ribbon closure that opens to reveal cute fussy cut images from the paper collection.

Third surprise?  How about a flip page inside the front cover of the card?  Just score a 1/2″ flap on the left hand side of a journal card, and you’ve got the makings of a simple flip page.

Ok, so this adorable mouse family marching on the piano keys makes me smile every time.  And do you spy the final surprise?  Yup.  That’s a hidden pocket feature with a journal card and bookmark tucked inside.

And we haven’t even opened the card base yet!

What’s Inside the card?

Oh, nothing much to see here.  Just a pair of pockets and a stack of journal cards.

Mat photos or write little note on the back side and you’ve got another fun feature to add to the tally.  And you can always tuck in a treat, tea bag or gift card, too.

Very Fine Mouse House Mini Album Tutorial with Stamperia Family

Hello, Friends!  Just as I promised, I’m back to share this Very Fine Mouse House Mini Album Tutorial with you.  Playing with all these cute little mice turned into one giant project!  Our tutorial is only for the mini album construction, but I do share a lot of tips for dressing up the house cubby box.

This is a very long video tutorial, so you will want to grab a cuppa and a snack to sustain you as we move through all the elements in this altered art project.

The Gatefold Feature

Stamperia Family-Altered Ashland House Cubby Box-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

When I shared my sneak peek video yesterday, I did not show you the fun gatefold feature I built into the back of the box.  I mean, the space was there, so I figured I should put it to good use, right?  This fun element has a neat surprise on the inside, but you’ll have to watch the video to see it.

Cute Little Mini Albums

Cute little mice need a cute little mini album to romp around in.  So I designed this sturdy little book to fit inside the box cubbies.  Made with layered cardstock, they are super sturdy.  But, they are also super quick and easy to put together.

Once you learn how to make these darling little albums, you can make bunches of them in any theme using any paper you like.  They’d make a great brag book, Christmas stocking stuffer, or gift.  I think you’ll really enjoy making them!

Mini Album Tutorial and Project Share with Tips

If you’d like to learn how to make these little beauties as well as take a tour (with tips!) of the altered house box, I hope you will enjoy this tutorial on my YouTube channel.

We have one more week to play with this darling paper collection.  I’m not sure what we’ll make, but I promise it will be fun!

You can find a linked supply list below this post, in the description box below the video tutorial, and tagged products in the body of the video.  Some parts of this collection have already sold out, but I’ll link whenever possible.

SNEAK PEEK:  Stamperia Family Very Fine Mouse House of Mini Albums

Hello Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday, and I’m still working on this Stamperia Family Very Fine Mouse House of Mini Albums project.  I had extra PT and a very long appointment with my surgeon last week.  Add to that a very important birthday party for our dear granddaughter ( I was in charge of making dessert) and I just plain ran out of time!

But, I have a little sneak peek to whet your appetite.

Sneak Peek Video

Here’s a quick look at what we’ll be making together on Thursday.  I hope you enjoy!

I’ll be working on finishing the video and photo editing all day today.  Then I’ll be back on Thursday, March 19th at 6AM with the tutorial.

The good news is, I think you’ll find this project is worth the wait!

See  you bright and early tomorrow!

Thanks for understanding!

Stamperia Family Domed Shaker Card Tutorial and Double Pop Up Fun Flap

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and I have the cutest Stamperia Family Domed Shaker Card Tutorial to share with you.  Wouldn’t this card look adorable next to the cake at a mouse themed birthday party?

Do you love pop-up/pop-out elements as much as I do?  Today I’m going to show you how to make a double pop out element inside this darling card folio.  Ready to get started?  Let’s go!

There’s No Place Like DomeStamperia Family-Domed Shaker Card-Tutorial-Double Pop Out Tutorial-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

I’ve been trying to clean up the Closet, and found a stack of these Tim Holtz Domes that I’ve had forever.  A lightbulb went off in my brain as I realized how perfectly they’d fit into the center of a doily I used in last week’s tag tutorial.  And that’s how this crafty adventure started. First I cut the center from this 5″ doily to use as an embellishment.  Then I set the outside rim aside to use in another project.  Here’s how to make it fit your shaker dome.

  • First, gently stretch the doily around the rim of a 3 1/2″ shaker dome.  Take your time and let the fabric stretch naturally to avoid tears.
  • Next, place dries clear adhesive around the base and a little bit up the side of the dome.
  • Now, press the doily into place and let it dry.  It’s so cute!
Fun Flap Feature

Card folios are one of my favorite things to make, especially when I can add an interactive feature to the mix.  This simple flap element opens to reveal a dynamic double pop up/pop out element that is truly “awwwwwww” worthy.

Just look at that adorable book-loving mousie!  He’s dreaming of a birthday adventure in a hot air balloon, don’t you think?  This is such a simple pop up feature, but adds a big “wow” factor to the card folio design.

A simple pocket holds a small journal card and whatever treat you’d like to tuck in.

This card base is one that you’ll want to add to your card-making repertoire.  Simple and quick to make, but oh, so fun!  If you’d like to learn how to create the elements in today’s card, please enjoy the video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

I’ll be back next week with another Stamperia Family project.  I’m thinking about some cute home decor.  Sound good?

Stamperia Family Interactive Jumbo Tag Tutorial for Wonderful Wednesday

Hello, Friends!  This Stamperia Family interactive Jumbo Tag Tutorial is filled with darling mice images, flip elements, pockets, a double kinetic waterfall and even a pop up!  Phew!  It’s  like a party on paper!

We’ll be working with this adorable collection throughout the month of March, and I’m really excited to kick things of with this 7 1/2″ x x 12″ jumbo tag.  Today’s tutorial is loaded with great ideas, tips and techniques.  It’s also a bit longer than normal, so you’ll want to be sure to grab a cuppa and a snack to sustain you!

Peek a Boo!

What could possibly make more sense than using tags to dress up a great big tag?  First,  I grabbed a bunch of Graphic 45 Kraft Tags from  my stash along with the matching dies.

Then I figured out how to arrange them on the front of my base tag to create a series of flips and flaps.  Little surprises await you behind ever little tag door.

The Cutest Mouse Family Ever!

What is it about little mice dressed up in human clothing that captures our imaginations?  I made sure to feature these darling critters in every scene.  This tag with them marching across the piano might be my favorite.

Double Kinetic Waterfall Tutorial

Flip the tag over and you’ll find a double kinetic waterfall.  This was my first attempt at making side by side twin waterfalls, and I was thrilled to see how well it worked.  So not only is this tag cute enough to set out as part of your home decor,  it also doubles as a little photo album.  How sweet is that?
