Stamperia Sweet Winter Christmas Shaker Card

Stamperia Sweet Winter Shaker Card-Really Reasonable Ribbon-Kathy Clement-Reneabouquets-Kathy by Design

Stamperia Sweet Winter Christmas Shaker Card with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  This Stamperia Sweet Winter Christmas Shaker Card sparkles and shines  just like the holiday!  Beautiful Really Reasonable Ribbon bows, heat-embossed Reneabouquets snowflakes, die cut glitter leaves, a mixed media shaker frame and frosty gems and sequins mimic the twinkling lights on the tree.   Shades of aqua and pink give it a wonderful vintage feel, too.  And that graceful skater takes me back to the fun back yard ice rinks of my youth.  I, however, was not graceful on skates!  I spent more time picking myself up off the ice than I did gliding over the surface. It was all wonderful fun whether I was gliding upright, or sliding on my bum!

Bluebird Gingham Bow

While I enjoy creating traditional red, green and gold Christmas projects, I also genuinely enjoy creating in a non-traditional color palette. Why? Using a non-traditional color palette means that I can leave this card out on display throughout the winter season, which I like.  It’s like getting more bang for your crafting buck!

I’m also a huge fan of plaid or gingham ribbons and metallic accents on my Christmas cards.  Really Reasonable Ribbon Bluebird Gingham pops against the softer pastel colors of this card.  And silver metallic string adds another layer of sparkle to the design.

A Peek Inside

Everyone knows you need a hot cuppa and a snack to revive yourself after skating out in the cold.  So I added a pocket inside the card and filled it with a seasonal tea bag, honey stick and chocolate treat.  After all, you just burned all those calories out on the ice!  You can afford to have a bit of chocolate indulgence, right?

No matter what color palette you are using on your Christmas projects, you can no doubt find the perfectly matched Really Reasonable Ribbon to dress it up.

Whether you are crafting, or baking, decorating or shopping, I hope you take a minute today to enjoy the beauty and wonder of this season.  It passes so quickly…be sure to make a memory or two!

Really Reasonable Ribbon November 2023 Blog Hop: Stamperia Sweet Christmas Wall  Hanging

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon November 2023 Blog Hop!  You should be coming here from Ginny’s lovely blog.  Our theme for the hop this month is “Christmas”.  I dug through my stash of beautiful Christmas papers and ribbons to make this shabby chic mixed media wall  hanging with Stamperia Sweet Winter papers and ephemera.

Shabby Chic Ribbons and Trims

When you are creating a shabby chic project, Robin’s Egg Wrinkled Ribbon and Silver Metallic String are very good choices.  I’ve adorned my mixed media background with sweetheart blossoms, magnolia blossoms, and chrysanthemums  in shades of pink and white.

Mixed Media Background

To create a sparkling holiday background on your patterned paper, begin with a stencil and Festive Berries Distress Ink.  Next, spread Crackle Texture Paste through the stencil and let it dry.  Then, come back a third time and brush Glitter Glaze through the stencil for a sparkly background.  Finish up with a dusting of Rajni Chawla’s Glitter Glass and a spattering of diluted ivory paint. Messy stitching adds another layer of texture to the edges of the wall hanging.

TIP:  Amp up the winter vibe by dry brushing  all the edges of your chipboard and paper with ivory chalk paint.  It really makes things pop!

On With the Hop!

Now hop on over the Cheryl’s lovely blog to see what Christmas goodies she has prepared for you.  Be sure to finish up over on the RRR blog so you can answer Bonnie’s Question of the Month and be entered into a drawing for a $10 gift certificate to Really Reasonable Ribbon and the digital stamp set of your choice.

Winter Ice Skates Mixed Media Wall Hanging

Winter Ice Skates Mixed Media Wall Hanging with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  This Winter Ice Skates Mixed Media Wall Hanging is the companion piece to the Stamperia Sweet Winter wall hanging I shared with you earlier this month.  Both feature the Really Reasonable Ribbon December Ribbon Club Assortment,  were made at the same time and followed the same basic procedure.  What can I say?  I had so much fun making the first one, and my work space was already a mess, so I decided to make another.  When the mojo is flowing, you don’t argue.  You just flow with it!

You can check out all the how to’s and tips for making the mixed media background in my previous post.

A stitched ribbon frame really helps pull this composition together.  That pop of color helps to keep the eye focused inside the frame.  If you don’t like to stitch, you could always use Scor-Tape to hold your ribbon frame in place.

And speaking of pops of color, how about this Tropic Delicate Stitched Satin Bow?  Ooh-la-la!  It really brightens up this shabby chic piece, dontcha think?  Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon is one of my all time favorites.  It is soft and supple so it ties gorgeous bows.  If you are struggling with bow-tying, I highly recommend it!

That’s it for me today, friends!  I’m still trying to get back on track after the Christmas festivities!  I hope each one of you had a delightful holiday with family and friends.  It’s so much fun to party, isn’t it?  But then we have to catch up on all the work we didn’t get done.  That’s not as much fun!

Stay warm and cozy and thanks for stopping by!

Stamperia Sweet Winter Wall Hanging for the Really Reasonable Ribbon December Blog Hop

Hello, Friends!  This Stamperia Sweet Winter Wall Hanging is my inspiration piece for the Really Reasonable Ribbon December 2022 Blog Hop.  You should be coming here from Gloria’s lovely blog.

The December Winter Carnival Ribbons take me right back to my high school days, when our small town hosted a winter carnival during Christmas break.  There was a snow sculpture contest, ice skating, hot chocolate stands, and all kinds of winter fun.  The beautiful ribbons in this month’s Ribbon Club are delightful.  Take a peek:

The soft pink and aqua shades were a perfect match for my Stamperia Sweet Winter papers, so I got busy stitching up a little winter wall hanging to brighten the grey, chilly days of the season.

Frame it with Ribbon

First, create a mixed media background.  Use collage medium to piece together scraps of pretty papers over a 5×7 cardstock base. Trim off any papers that overhang the edge of the cardstock base. Then run the background through your die cutting machine using a 3D embossing folder to create a raised design.  Now dry brush ivory paint over the embossed areas to highlight them.  Then rub a little metallic wax over the top to really make the embossed areas pop.

Now you are ready to create your satin ribbon border.  Cut (2) 5″ lengths of the 3/8″ aqua satin ribbon and (2) 7″ lengths.  Miter the corners and then machine stitch onto the cardstock base.  Match up the mitered corners as you go.  Now you are ready to decorate your panel.

Make a Scene

Cluster die cut foliage with chipboard elements from the paper collection in the bottom corner of the panel.  Use foam tabs between layers to add extra dimension.

Now create a flower grouping on the opposite side of the wall hanging.  Anchor this with a pretty pink satin bow and some silver metallic string.

Attach the wall hanging to a small metal hanger, then top it off with a pop of color courtesy of Garden Rose Delicate Stitched Satin.  Accent with chipboard snowflakes, resin pieces and charms from your stash.

On With the Hop!

Now hop on over and see what paper pretties Cheryl has in store for you. Be sure to finish up the hop over on the RRR Blog where you can answer Bonnie’s Question of the Month and be entered to win your very own December Ribbon Club Assortment.
