Graphic 45 Time to Flourish January Folio Tutorial for Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!  Well, it’s time for the very first Throwback Thursday of 2022, so I thought we’d kick things of with this Graphic 45 Time to Flourish January Folio Tutorial.  The collection has always been one of my favorites.  So when it was recently released as a Deluxe Collector’s Edition< i broke my “no new paper collections in January” rule and bought it.  I am not sad I did.  And I hope you will not be sad, either, because we are going to make another little monthly folio series using this collection throughout 2022.

Even though this is a new-ish paper collection, I feel like it still qualifies for Throwback Thursday status.  That’s because in 2020, I shared a similar series using Authentique’s Calendar Collection. You can find that HERE. I also suspect that many of you have the original Time to Flourish collection in your Closet of Inspiration and Delight.  I’ve made a few minor design changes to the folio, so it’s new and (I think) improved.

Snowy Branches, Snowflakes and Snow Birds

Growing up in New England, January was the wintery-est  month of the year. Everything feels icy and cold and the world is robed in white.  The flash of a cardinal’s wings makes the heart lift in the middle of a bleak winter day.  And toward dusk, the snow takes on a particular shade of blue that still makes me hold my breath in wonder.  I tried to capture all that icy beauty in this shaker frame.

Of course, as a kid, winter is all about fun: snowball fights, playing fox and geese in the snow, sledding and building snow forts seem to make you immune to the biting cold. Just look how happy this rosy cheeked lad is with his arms full of snowballs!

The easel design of this folio allows it to close up for storage, but open and stand upright for display.  I never ever get tired of making easel cards!

The Pull out Folio

Create a sneaky hidden pocket on the underside of the easel card to house this 6 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ tri-fold folio.

Add pockets and mini folios made from scraps inside.  These are great spots to add journaling or small photos.

Disguise short panels by adding pockets or borders to the top or bottom of a panel.  No one will ever know!

The stopper or brake on this easel card is actually a pocket.  So I added a matted journal card and a 4×4 folio inside.

These make great birthday cards!  But they are also a lovely way to brighten up your desk at the office, or to use as home decor.  I think you’ll enjoy making them.  If you’d like to learn how, please watch the video tutorial below.

I hope your 2022 is off to a good start.  I’m recovering from a head cold, so I sound like I have a bad smoking habit in the video.  I assure you, I do not!  Just too much sugar, too much work and not enough sleep trying to make the most of the holidays.  I feel great…even though I don’t sound like it!  There’s no way a little stuffy nose was going to keep me from getting the first Throwback Thursday of 2022 out to you!
