This magical tea party event takes place inside a beautifully altered Graphic 45 Book Box.  Cover the box with Memory Place Alice’s Tea Party papers.

Add a cute pair of antique bronze box feet to elevate the design.  Then adorn it with fabulous ribbons and Little Birdie Flowers.  People, I’m tellin’ ya!  This project is everything I dreamed it would be and more!

There’s fun on every side….

….even the back !  I designed this project with parties and centerpieces in mind.  So I created a darling tag album and pocket feature on the back side of the lid.

Authentique March Desk Calendar Tutorial

Authentique March Desk Calendar Tutorial by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Authentique March Desk Calendar Tutorial

Hello, Friends! This Celtic beauty adorns the cover of our Authentique March Desk Calendar.  That’s right!  With Valentine’s Day behind us, it’s time to get ready for the wearing of the green.  So break out your March Calendar collection pages and let’s get our craft on!

Did you make the January and February Desk Calendars yet?  The March calendar is the same size and basic design, although I streamlined a couple of features to make it even easier to create.

Just like the January and February models, the base is a 6″ x 6″ easel card.  I dressed this one up with some fancy gold buttons, shimmer satin ribbon and beautiful Little Birdie Amor Mio flowers.

You’ll still find a cute pocket with folio inserts and a March calendar on the interior of the card.  But the pocket construction is even simpler.

And we still have the nifty hidden pocket and folio feature.  But I changed the shape of the pull tab.  I can’t have you getting bored on me!

So if you’re ready to learn how to make this sweet Authentique March Desk Calendar, just click play on the video below.  You’ll also find a linked supply list at the bottom of this post.

The great thing about this fun design is that it makes a great gift!  Just change out the papers, and you can make birthday cards, anniversary cards, graduation cards…the options are endless!

Are you making this series along with me?  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.

Thanks for stopping by!

Heartfelt Creations August 2019 Alumni Hop: Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations August 2019 Alumni Blog Hop!  I’m kicking things off today with a bright and cheery Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial.  This was my first attempt at making a triple easel card, and after some trial and error, I finally figured out how to do it!  So I made a tutorial for all of you to save you some time, energy and paper.  Let’s take a closer look at the details on this happy card.

Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial: The Inspiration

Fall is peeping around the corner here in North Carolina.  The temperature might not show it, but the squirrels have been scurrying around stashing away acorns for winter.  Watching their antics inspired me to make this 6″ x 6″ card using the darling Oakberry Lane Collection.

Easel cards are one of my “go to” fancy fold designs.  I love how quick they are to make, and how easy they are to display.   You can watch the video below to learn how to create the base.

Oakberry Lane Triple Easel Card Tutorial: The Details

Here are some tips and tricks for adding the details to this fun card.

  • First, stamp the Acorn House on Smooth White Cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink.
  • Next, color it in with Distress Markers and a water brush.  Simple scribble the marker on a craft mat or a bit of clear acrylic packaging.  Then pick up the color with a water brush and blend it onto the stamped image.
  • Now, die cut the house, the windows and the squirrel Mom with the matching die.  Pop up on adhesive strips and attach to the base.

  • Next, stamp 3 sets of Oakberry Lane Flowers using Butterscotch Archival Ink. Heat Emboss flowers and leaves with Clear Embossing Powder.
  • Then,   water color with Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress Markers and a a water brush.  Color the leaves with Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron.
  • Die cut the leaves, then shape in the 3D Blossom Shaping Mold, following the directions for your machine.
  • Now add stamens to the centers and layer together.
  • Tie bows for each corner with Orange/Fuchsia/Lavender Checkered Ribbon.  Top with burlap string.

Use the dies to cut out images from the paper collection and scatter them around on the card to create a scene.  (Did you see that rascally little squirrel trying to snatch away Mother Squirrel’s freshly baked pie?)

Authentique Beginnings Baby Book Tutorial & Video Tour

Authentique Beginnings Baby Book with Eileen Hull Travel Journal Die by Sizzix

Hello, Friends!  I love Mondays!  You wake up to a brand new week with brand new opportunities to learn and create.  This Monday, I’m especially excited because I’m sharing a project made with a brand new release from Authentique Paper.  This Beginnings Baby Book is so very sweet, I can’t wait to share it with you.

See?  I told you it was sweet! When I first saw these darling papers, I nearly swooned. They are just perfect for use in a baby book!  I often think about a project for days (or even weeks) before I dig in and create, but this idea came to me in a snap.  Why not pair up these pretty pretty papers with my Eileen Hull Travel Journal die?  So I did!

I framed this precious focal image with some Petaloo Flowers, luscious Buttercup Satin Ribbon, and some fussy cut elements from the 12×12 Collection kit. The baby book measures a generous 4.25″ wide x 8.75″ tall.  That means there’s lots and lots of room for goodies inside!

A vintage style brad and elastic loop form the closure.  Crochet lace adds a lovely vintage feel to the design.  Don’t you love these patterns?  Yum!

Beads. flowers and novelty buttons add fun details to the spine.

Travel Journal style minis are trending right now.  They are really fun to make…one could almost say addictive!  In case you’ve never put one of these together before, I prepared a SnapGuide Tutorial to walk you through the cover assembly.  You’ll also learn how to put the signature pages together.  I hope you enjoy!

Beginnings Baby Book: Pockets and Tags

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 5

Now that you’ve seen how the baby book is assembled, it’s time to look at some details.  One of the things that makes these travel journals so addictive is the opportunity you have for adding all kinds of interactive elements.  And you know how I feel about interactive elements in a project!

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 6

Pockets and tags go together like babies and cuddles!  I created this large 4″ x 6″ tag with Authentique Spectrum paper in Bubblegum Pink and Antique Lace.  It was my first opportunity to play with the Spectrum line, and I have to say, I’m hooked!  It’s super sturdy, has a very slight sheen and makes really crisp folds.

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 7

To make this tag, first I rounded the bottom corners of a rectangular piece of paper.  Then I used a corner chomper to shape the top edge.  Add some ribbon, a posy and pretty designer papers, and you have a tag in no time flat!

The pocket is decorated with a Details Sticker and some little banner flags cut from scraps.

Here’s another sweet little pocket filled with journal cards from the cut apart page.  I also turned a Detail Sticker into a file folder by matting it on designer paper and folding.

Beginnings Baby Book: The Waterfall Feature

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 11Waterfall features are such a great way to include a lot of photos in a small space.  Here’s how I made this one.

  1. First, cut eight 4.25″ x 4.75″  rectangles from Spectrum Bubblegum 1&2 papers.
  2. Next, punch a scalloped edge along the bottom of each rectangle.
  3. Then, score each rectangle at 1/2″ on the long side.
  4. Now, burnish the score line to form a flap.
  5. Add adhesive to the back side of the flap.  JUST the flap!
  6. Next, line the flap up with the top of your paper and press in place.
  7. Line the top edge of the next rectangle up with the bottom edge of the flap above it.  Press in place.
  8. Repeat until you’ve used all the rectangles.
  9. Finally, add an image from the Details Sticker Sheet or the 6×6 bundle cut apart page to the top rectangle.
Beginnings Baby Book: The Belly Band

This image from the cut apart page is perfect for use as a belly band!  Because it is 12″ long, it will span the page nicely. My thought here was that it would be the perfect tuck spot for a copy of baby’s birth certificate, birth announcement or baptism certificate.  Of course, photos will fit here , too.

Beginnings Baby Book: Flips, Flaps and Fold Outs

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 13

To create these two cutie pie flaps, just score a 7″ long piece of paper in half, add a punched border and tuck beneath the elastic binding.  Decorate one of the labels that you cut while making the journal covers.  Add a little sticker from the Details Sticker sheet.  Easy peasy!  Using a variety of paper sizes and shapes makes the book much more fun!

Here’s a peek at another decorated signature page.  Each signature has 4 sheets of acid free text paper in it.  These blank pages can be used for more photos, journaling or as a place for baby’s first visitors to add a special word of greeting.

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 15

These little flip books are so easy to make!  Cut 6×6 papers in half, score in half, then add decorative corners.  Glue onto the page, add a sticker, and BAM!  Instant flip book!

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 16Here’s another fun way to add a flap: Score a journal card to fit the size of the inner page.  Glue just the edge down and fold.  Isn’t it sweet?

Beginnings Baby Book Beginnings by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Paper Photo 17If you glue just the edge of an image to a fold out page, a photo can still be inserted behind it.

Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial

Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial with Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home

Hello, Friends!  Summer is the time when we all travel.  Sometimes we travel around the world, and sometimes we just take a little trip around the block.  This summer, the grand girls paid a visit to a local “you pick” blueberry farm.  It was a beautiful day, the blueberries were ripe for and luscious and fun was in the air. We picked them one day, baked them into a delicious dessert on another and ate every juicy morsel on a third.  It was blueberry delight from beginning to end.  I thought I’d share the fun with you in this Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial.

Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial, Home Sweet Home, Staples Square Tag Album, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo9 14Just look at those faces?  Is that sheer bliss or what?  I decided to create my album in a sunny, summery blue and yellow color palette using papers from Graphic 45’s Home Sweet Home collection.

Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial, Home Sweet Home, Staples Square Tag Album, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45 Photo9 15The square tag album from G45 is a chunky wonder!  I love the sturdy spine and classy label holder.  Blueberries, flowers and a little twine bow fill this one up nicely!

Come Blueberry Picking with Me

Blueberry Delight Mini Album Tutorial, Home Sweet Home, Staples Square Tag Album, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 28Don’t you want to go pick blueberries with these cutie patooties?  Well, you can, sort of, with this video tour of my Blueberry Delight Mini Album.

Blueberry Delight Recipe

The girls and I got together to bake our blueberries up into a tasty dessert on Saturday morning.  I thought you might like to make it for your family as well, so here’s the recipe:

Crust:

1 stick butter

2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs

Melt butter and stir in the crumbled vanilla wafers.  Press the crumbs into a 9” square pan.  Set aside.

Filling:

Whipped cream:

2 cups of heavy cream, whipped

3 Tbsp. powdered sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

Cream cheese:

1 tsp vanilla

3/4 cup sugar

1 8 oz cream cheese, softened

Directions:

Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla together until smooth and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, beat the whipping cream, vanilla and powdered sugar until it is thick and holds a peak.  Carefully fold half the whipping cream into the prepared cream cheese mixture and spread over the prepared crust.  Refrigerate the remaining whipped cream in an airtight container.  (You can also use an 8 oz. Cool Whip, but we prefer real whipped cream.)

Berries:

¾ cup sugar

3 Tbsp cornstarch

4 cups blueberries

juice of 1 lemon

Combine ingredients and cook until thickened. Cool completely. Top the cream filling with the cooled blueberries and refrigerate.

Blueberry Delight Snapguide Tutorial

I put together a little step by step tutorial on Snapguide so that you can see how I layered the cover together.
