Stamperia Ceremony Folio with Vintage Treasures Dies: Bella Luce Oval

This shabby chic wedding card folio features Spellbinders Bella Luce Oval Etched Dies and Infinity Link Border by Amazing Paper Grace.   The minute I took these dies out of the package, I knew I had to create a wedding themed card folio with them.  They are so incredibly elegant!

This 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ card folio features a 1″ spine, giving me lots of room for interactive features inside.  Here’s how I layered the front of this elegant folio.

  • First, cover your folio base with a 5 1/8″ x 7 1/8″ panel of ivory pearl cardstock.
  • Next, cut a 5″ x 7″ panel of designer paper from Stamperia’s Ceremony paper pad.  Center and adhere over the ivory panel.
  • Now, die cut a Bella Luce Oval from Whip Cream Cardstock.
  • Leave the die cut layers inside the die, Then run the die layers through a Spellbinder’s Platinum machine using the Embossing Plate and Embossing pad. Follow the directions in the manufacturer packaging for this step.  This will raise all the wonderful details in the die.
  • Lightly ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to make those details pop!
  • Next, use the inner oval die to cut patterned paper to line the cardstock oval.
  • Stamp with a wedding sentiment stamp and heat emboss with clear powder.
  • Adhere in place, then cover with the filigree oval insert.
  • Adhere the outer filigree frame to your folio base.
  • Then back the inner oval with dimensionals and adhere.

Place dimensionals on the back of the diamond medallion and adhere to the right of the frame.  Top with a metal heart, as I did here, or add a pearl button to the center.

To add shabby chic details to these Little Birdie Flowers, dry brush them with ivory chalk paint. Distress metal corners with ivory chalk paint and gold glimmer mist.  Adhere in the corner. Tuck in a Champagne Wrinkled Ribbon Bow and vintage button, and the cover is complete.

Stamperia Ceremony Folio with Vintage Treasures Dies:  A Peek Inside

A sweet little flip page and pocket detail wait for you inside this shabby chic folio.  Once again, I’ve used the diamond medallion from the Bella Luce Oval to create a shaped edge down the side of the flip page.  Each medallion is topped with a vintage button from my stash.  This makes me think of the buttons down the back of a gorgeous wedding gown.

And what’s in the pocket?  I’m so glad you asked!

A mini envelope filled with sweet wedding treasures and some journal cards fit perfectly inside the pocket.

Flip the page to reveal an elegant lace pocket made with the Infinity Linked Border.  I’ve tucked a little gift card holder inside.

The flap page on the right is the perfect spot to tuck hidden journaling or small photos.  The flaps have magnetic closures to hold everything in place.

The Bella Luce Oval die is a delicate beauty, but a hard worker, too.  I’ve used it to frame the cover of the photo album attached to the top of the card.

But it also works as a frame for wedding, reception or bridal shower photos.  Just place a little adhesive on the outer edge of one side of the Bella Luce Oval Frame, and you can slip photos behind.  The inner oval makes a great journaling spot, or a place for small photos.  Once again, adhere just a little bit of one edge, and you can slip a photo behind the oval.

Wedding Paper Pretties: Authentique Always Collection

Gifts for the Bride and Groom with Authentique Always Collection

Hello, Friends!  I’m thrilled to be sharing another of my guest designer posts for Authentique Papers.  This time, I’m featuring a pair of wedding themed projects made with the Authentique Always Collection.  Both projects provide a unique way to present a gift card for the Bride and Groom and are both easy to make.  Let’s get started!

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Card Box with Authentique Always Collection

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Box Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 9The Always collection is done in gorgeous shades of brown and cream.  Honestly, it is so rich and elegant that it makes me think of deep dark espresso with whipped cream on top.  This little easel style gift box measures about 3.75″ x 4.25″ and it’s just the right size for the journal cards from the 12×12 paper collection.

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Box Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 2Making this pretty gift box is so easy!  I just covered the box base with designer paper from the Always 6×6 pad, then made a sweet little easel card that matched the size of the box top.  Then, I glued the card base to the top of the box.  I think this would look fabulous as table decor at a wedding, bridal shower or rehearsal dinner.

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Box Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 3Use an image from the 6×6 pad with a Tim Holtz Vintage Cameo Frame and you’ve got a lovely cover for a mini folio!  Paint the frame with Tattered Rose Distress paint to give it a shabby chic finish.

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Box Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 4Accordion fold a strip of cardstock, then decorate with images from the 6×6 collection.  Leave one panel open for a small photo booth style shot of the new Mister and Missus!

Mister and Missus Easel Style Gift Box Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 6Inside the box, I’ve created a mini sized folio that measures 2.75″ x 3.75″.  Decorate the front with images from the 6×6 pad and create a belly band closure with ribbon and Petaloo Flowers.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio with Authentique Always Collection

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 1My dear friend Liz Gaze shared a great tutorial for this lovely envelope card.  I made a few changes to the design to make this fun folio that I’ve filled with a gift wallet and other goodies.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 2The 8.5″ x 4.25″ envelope is made with one sheet of 12×12 paper.  Just fold the paper following the simple directions in Liz’ tutorial and in about 2 minutes, you have made the base for this project.  Brush your paper with Worn Lipstick Distress ink to add color to the basic brown and cream color palette.  The fact that these papers are so neutral means that no matter what your wedding colors are, you can match them by adding the appropriate color ribbon, flowers or even ink.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 3After distressing the edges of some 12×12 paper, I stitched them together on my sewing machine to create a wallet.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 4Inside the wallet, I created a pair of gift card holders.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 5Here’s how to make the gift card holders:

  1. First, cut a 7.25″ x 4.25″ rectangle of brown cardstock.
  2. Next, score on the long side at 3.25″ and again at 6.5″.
  3. Now, use a 3/4″ circle punch to add a thumb hole to the 3.4″ strip.
  4. Next, line with designer paper.
  5. Then glue only the sides of the punched paper and fold to seal.
  6. Tuck in a small journal card from the 6×6 collection.
  7. Finally, add a small pink photo mount and decorate.  (Glue just the bottom edge of the decoration so photos can be slipped behind.
The Flip Side

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 6The really fun thing about this envelope folio card is that when you fold the paper, you also create a pocket on the flip side.  Fill this up with even more wedding goodies.

Bride and Groom Envelope Folio Always by Kathy Clement Product by Authentique Photo 7These 4×6 journal cards from the 12×12 cut apart page make wonderful inserts.  I added a little wooden icon and a mini paper clip to hold them together.

YouTube Video Tour with Authentique Always Collection Wedding Goodies

I know it’s hard to really get a feel for how everything works together when all you see are still photos. So I put together a short, 10 minute, video tour with more info and tips for making these two projects.  I hope you enjoy!

Black and White Wedding Album

Black and White Wedding Album for Really Reasonable Ribbon Black & White Challenge

RRRChallengeBadge

Hello, Ribbon Lovers!  There’s a brand new RRR challenge starting today.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a project that only uses black & white plus ONE accent color.  This was a tough challenge for me.  I might have grown up with black & white TV, but I like to craft in technicolor!  LOL  But I dug deep into my stash and found some Bo Bunny Enchantment papers (retired, ancient history…but beautiful!) and I worked up a little black & white wedding album to share with you here today.

Kathy by Design/Black and White wedding album for Really Reasonable RibbonSo, obviously, my accent color is gold.  I used gold embossing powder on the edge of the front cover, and made gold flowers with a My Favorite Things Layered Rose Die.  My ribbons are from the gorgeous July Ribbon Club assortment.

https://www.reasonableribbon.com/item_images/july2015lge.gif

The chipboard album was one of those “almost finished” designs, so all I did was add beautiful ribbons and a few little extras to finish it off.

Kathy by Design/Black & White Wedding Album Each page has a different shape, which made it very fun to work with.

Black and White Challenge 03I paired up the beautiful sheer white with 4 satin stripes ribbon with the sheer black with 4 satin stripes ribbon to make all my bows in this album.  I love how easy it is to work with this ribbon!  It makes scrumptious bows!

Black and White Challenge 04Since gold was my other color, I topped all my ribbons with loopy bows made from metallic gold string. The metallic string comes in gold, silver and white iridescent.  I use them a LOT because I love the little touch of shine they add to project.

Black and White Challenge 05I die cut gold doilies which can be used as photo frames.  I made sure that all chipboard elements and ephemera are glued in such a way that a photo can be slipped underneath.

Black and White Challenge 06I used some vintage black and white photos to add a little pizazz to the interior of the album.

Black and White Challenge 08This really is all ready to go.  Just load in your photos and voila!  Instant album!

Be sure to visit the RRR BLOG for more black and white inspiration. And remember to link up your black and white plus one color project to the RRR BLOG so we can see what you make!

RRR Photo Inspiration Challenge

Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hello Friends!  Happy May Day!  It’s time for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo Inspiration Challenge.  You can get all the details on the RRR BLOG, but here’s the photo the design team used to inspire our creativity.

RRR Photo Inspiration May 1The first thing that grabbed me in this photo was the wonderful colors and the beautiful garden setting.  it made me think of a garden wedding. I used the color palette and the garden wedding theme to create a file folder wedding album and a wedding card.

Photo Inspiration Challenge 09Both projects were made with images from Polly’s Paper Studio Victorian Trading Cards Creative Kit and loads of gorgeous ribbons and flowers from Really Reasonable Ribbon!

Photo Inspiration Challenge 02I started out with a 4″ x 6″ naked file folder from Canvas Corp Brands. I stitched ivory burlap to the cover and wrapped this with a strip of beautiful 2.5″ wide Vintage Pink Floral Cotton Blend Ribbon. Then I topped it with this pretty Victorian image from the Creativity Kit.  I had these Prima pearls in my stash, and layered a cluster of beautiful pink chrysanthemums on top. I tucked some pink bead berry sprays in to add texture and contrast. Because of the Victorian feel of this album, I inked all the edges, the flowers and the bead berry sprays with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to make them looked aged.

Photo Inspiration Challenge 01aThe main image on the file folder was also inked and then spritzed with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist.  I topped it with a gem clip that I tied with a little bit of lavender polka dots organza.  Then I doubled the lavender organza with a piece of bright pink polka dot organza and tied a big fluffy bow with the help of my Zutter Bow-it-All Tool.  White Iridescent Metallic string tops this along with a vintage pearl button from my stash.

Photo Inspiration Challenge 03The inside uses papers and ephemera from the Creativity kit.  The ephemera and paper are glued in such a way that the photo can slip behind, leaving room for nice sized photographs on both sides.  I love the single little chrysanthemum blooming from the pearl cluster, don’t you?

Photo Inspiration Challenge 04

This is the backside of the album.  After embossing with a folder and inking with Vintage photo ink, I spritzed it with Vintage Pink Glimmer mist.  Here you can see how I stitched the ribbon onto the folder.

Photo Inspiration Challenge 07The matching card uses more papers, images and ephemera from the Creativity kit.  The card front is covered with both paper and a strip of 2.5″ Garden Print Ribbon which I topped with two rows of crocheted lace: Frances White Crochet lace is on the outermost edge, and Tabitha Natural Crochet Lace is layered over that. In the top corner is a shabby bow that I made by layering torn Garden Print Ribbon with Fuchsia Seam Binding and chrysanthemums. I backed a clear acrylic charm with a scrap of the garden print ribbon and used it as an embellishment on the card.

Photo Inspiration Challenge 08I chose a deeper shade of the same Pink Chrysanthemums for the front of this card.

We are coming right up on wedding season,  so maybe this project will spark an idea for you.  Be sure to stop by the RRR Blog and link up your inspiration photo project.  I can’t wait to see what you make!

kathy
