Mother’s Day Tea Party in a Box Folio Tutorial Part 2 with Reneabouquets & G45 Cottage Life

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for Part 2 of our Mother’s Day Tea Party in a Box Folio Tutorial?  I’ve been a busy bee in the studio getting the remainder of this project finished for you.  Some of you have contacted me already with ways that you plan to use this folio for upcoming special occasions.  That makes my heart so happy!  I love it when you share your memories and crafty adventures with me.

Here’s our finished project, and I have to say, I love the way it turned out.  It’s perfectly vintage and beautifully feminine.  My mom loved her flower gardens, and this precious image makes me think of her.  Mom also loved all the wee birds, so I was thrilled to find this gorgeous Printed Beautiful Board from Reneabouquets in my stash.

Butterflies?  Yup, mom loved those too, and  of course I had to use a pink one.  The ribbon closure and bow are also pink,  because Mom loved pink in all its various shades.

The Spine

Did you guess that I would created a dangle charm for the spine?  Well, you were 100% correct!  This  one features a golden bumblebee, flying swallow, text token, daisy, and a darling little bird nest.  You can learn how to add it to your folio in today’s video tutorial.

A Peek Inside

If you missed the first part of this tutorial, you can find it HERE. Part 1 covers building the folio base, adding the liner papers, creating the slash pocket, box pocket,  and decorating the flap pages.

Today we’ll finish the folio.  First, we’ll finish the final flap page with a little pocket, a bookmark and a magnet.  Next, I’ll talk with you about how I “gift wrap” the goodies that fit in the box pocket.  Then, we will finish out the decoration on the slash pocket and talk about how easy it is to create a belly band.

Next on our crafty adventure, we’ll add the ribbon closure, create the spine, and the dangle charm.  And last, but not least, we’ll create the cover for the folio.

I hope you’ll join me as I share Part 2 of this Mother’s Day Tea Party in a Box Folio Tutorial over on my YouTube channel.

Mother’s Day kind of sneaked up on me this year, and I know we are cutting it close with this project.  But maybe you can lock yourself up in your studio this weekend and get this project ready in time.  I hope you have as much fun with it as I did.

You’ll find a linked supply list below this post.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

What Mom would not love this!! My Granny (my Mother figure) loved butterflies. She is why I started making them when I was a wee girl and grew and grew my skills. She was my butterfly muse and still is although she has been gone from my sight for 12 years. What a wonderful way to honor the women we love in our lives. I so hope you have a beautiful Mother’s Day. Sorry, I have been so behind. Both David’s real Mom and Step Mom have been extremely ill and we are having to stretch our time to include their hospital visits. I love the break that your beautiful art gives me. Much love.

You are as inspirational as ever Kathy. Now I know what to do with the leftover Cottage Life papers! The way you add magnets here and there is perfect, and that bundle of magnets in my stash is finally coming out of the lockers too. The birds in the nest by Renea to me are the finishing touch on the cover, they are sooooo pretty and work very well with the papers. You certainly know how to maximise the stash. Thanks Kathy. Back home again and keen for an arty fix, your tutorials while we were away kept me going.

Absolutely gorgeous Kathy!!! Luv this part 2 of the Mother’s Day folio! It’s just perfect! It’s like watching you put icing on a cake when you put the front cover on! It’s amazing how your folio or card just comes to life! My mother would of luved this …for flowers were her most favorite thing besides making her dolls! I too have lost my mom in 2005 …and still miss her terribly! Thank you so much for all the sweet words! Yes the tears are flowing …remembering the happy times! Family is everything! I’ve been blessed with your friendship and have learned so much from you…and still learning every time I watch you! It’s amazing! Thank you so much. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day! Big hugs, Suzy Q

Loved watching you put this all together…I bought the Country Life Collection when it came out, already knowing how I’d use it. It will house photos of the many items I have dating to the mid-1800’s. I am the only daughter, of the only daughter (my Mom) who inherited so many items, they fill my bedrooms…from Victorian to Early American, I am blessed. So now, need to get the camera out and get busy! I will definitely incorporate some of your detailing ideas into mine! Thanks so much!

It was very late here when the email notification popped up that you had posted this tutorial but I stayed up to watch it and it was definitely worthwhile. You have finished this beautiful Mother’s Day folio with your wonderful details and it is gorgeous! Every time I watch one of your videos, I find myself learning something new even if it’s a small details because you share so much and I appreciate it. I love the idea of including some older family photos in the slash pocket and I know exactly which photos I will include in mine. I was crying by the time the video finished because you touched my heart with your reminder that there are many ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us. Blessings and an early Happy Mother’s Day!

Kathy, this Tea Party in a Box is absolutely stunning! This paper collection is so perfect for a Mother’s Day gift with the soft colors and floral motifs. I have always loved that little girl in her garden image. The little birdies in their nest are so sweet and I love your spine charms! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
