Well, Happy Friday, everyone! We’ve almost made it through another week, and to celebrate, I’m here with my TGIF card featuring this wonderful sentiment and papers from Graphic 45’s Typography collection. It is a good day to have a good day! I love the great chalkboard look of this sentiment panel and the bright happy colors of this card. Do you agree?
The chalkboard look always makes me feel nostalgic. Growing up in rural Vermont, I can remember trying to be a very, very, good girl so that the teacher would pick me to erase all the chalkboards at the end of the school day. It was considered a great honor to be chosen to clean the slate chalkboards, clap out the erasers and line the trays with fresh chalk for the next day. Oh, the simple pleasures of childhood! We didn’t know how good we had it, did we?
I started out by creating a 7″x5″ card base from kraft cardstock. The sentiment was cut directly from the cut apart page of the Typography collection and smudged with a little white pigment ink.
These mini rosettes were made using Tim’s die. I love the movement they add to this fun card. Each rosette was topped with a little chipboard piece from the Typography collection. The fishtail banners were hand cut and double matted with both red and black cardstock. Does it make you feel like celebrating? I know it works for me!
The interior of the TGIF card carries over the chalkboard theme and the happy colors used on the front of the card. The sentiment on the black paper was stamped in white pigment ink, then embossed with white superfine embossing powder. It reads: “Laughing deeply is living deeply.” The smaller sentiment was cut from the collection, matted and mounted on a fishtail banner. It reads: “Happiness is an inside job.”
Of course, I lined the envelope and covered the flap. I love the way this makes a card feel like a special gift!
I think this TGIF card would make a great birthday card, a super fun “thinking of you” card or a perfect “just because” card. We all need a little help from our friends every once in a while…and I know this card would certainly cheer me up! So what occasion would you use this card for?
Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog today. I hope your Friday rolls along without drama, incident or upset and that your weekend is spent doing the things you love to do. Thanks in advance for your kind comments. They make me happy right down to the tips of my crafty little fingers! Until next time,
