Throwback Thursday: Authentique Crush Cards and Folio
Hello Friends! Love is in the air! For this Throwback Thursday I have a trio of paper pretties made with Authentique Crush. This collection was released in 2014, but I still love the pink and aqua color palette, the pretty patterns and the delightful images. I pulled it out of the Closet of Shame and spent two delightful days creating these sweet projects. You might have these papers in your stash, so I thought I would share them here.
Authentique Crush Envelope Flip Book
Remember the Carta Bella Home Again Envelope Flip Book Tutorial I shared with you at the beginning of this week? This is the folio base I built in the tutorial. I just dressed it up in these pretty Valentine’s Day papers.
TIP: Add round elements to a square or rectangular card to offer contrast. This lovely vintage clock cabochon and silver sentiment charm do the trick.
TIP: Mixed metals? Unify them with a little white chalk paint. I painted the arrow, the base for the clock cabochon and the key so they would all match. It also lends a shabby chic finish to the folio design.
Black houndstooth check ribbon ties in with the design paper and helps to anchor all these pastel colors. Use it for the ribbon closure. Tie loopy bows with black micro gingham ribbon and tuck in with the flower clusters.
A Peek Inside
True confessions: I had planned to do a video tour of this little folio, but it sold in the Etsy Shop, and I packed it up and shipped it…then I said, “oops!” Sorry about that! You can watch the video tour of the Carta Bella Envelope Flip Book to see how all the parts work together. But I’ll just show you inspiration pictures of this project.
These are little magnetic flap elements. Don’t you just love these images?
Pocket insert folio.
Gift packet with decorative belly band. Create the envelope with an Envelope Punch Board.
Valentine treats!
Authentique Crush Vintage Style Card
Next I made a 5″ x 7″ vintage style Valentine. Once again, I used circular elements to offset the sharp corners of the card.
The inside is sweet and simple with a little treat pocket and a blank die cut panel for a personal greeting.
Authentique Crush Shaker Card
This little shaker card might just be my favorite of the trio. The 4 1/4″ x 6 3/4″ base was made with an off cut from die cutting the frame. Back the frame with clear cardstock (acetate) then line the solid portions of the frame with 1/8″ wide foam tape to create the shaker element, For fun, I punched out the little ticket from the elements sheet and let it float freely in the shaker mix.
Shaker cards are like a toy. They delight me!
This little felt heart element is made with some of my old Tammy Tutterow Spellbinder dies. Tie a bitty key and heart shaped lock to a metal arrow and adhere to the felt for a unique and perfect Valentine embellishment.
Loopy black micro gingham bows and bitty buttons go so well with this paper collection!
And here’s a peek inside. A simple side pocket with a chocolate treat and a blank sentiment panel for writing mooshy greetings finish things off nicely.
I think these would be so cute as part of a Valentine’s display. Although the folio has sold, the shaker card and the vintage style card are still available in my ETSY shop at the time of this posting.
I hope I’ve shared some tips, tricks and ideas you can use in your next crafty adventure. And I hope you dust of some of your stash and make something beautiful, too! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheerio,
kathy

Sorry I have been MIA recently; but I have tried to look at most of your gorgeous projects. You are the Guru of color & pattern selections. I envy that ability. I just love this one from goodies inside to the heart warming feeling I get from this project. Just beautiful Kathy. I also was amazed by turning an envelope into a journal!!! Just WOW❣️

Great cards and folio! I have lots of Valentine stuff, so hoping to make something that resembles a valentine card. 🙂 I am so not a pro, but simple is my name still. Thanks for the inspiration Kathy and wonderful, pretty cards to be sure.
