Throwback Thursday Purebred Fun Fold Card Tutorial
Hello, Friends! How do you feel about a Throwback Thursday Purebred Fun Fold Card Tutorial? I hope you feel excited because that’s what this week’s episode is all about.
Our sweet Sophie Grace turns 12 today, and she loves dogs. She loves all God’s creatures, truthfully. But dogs hold a special place in her heart. So I dug into the Closet of Goodness and Delight looking for a good pet themed paper collection. (See, I changed the name from Closet of Shame. I’ve decided Closet of Goodness and Delight is a better name. Authentique’s Purebred seemed like the perfect paper to help Sophie celebrate her big day. How did she turn 12 already? I’m in shock!
The Basics
The image on this 5 1/2″ square card is actually on a front flap. I chose the image because the girl makes me think of Sophie. Because the card is square, and the flaps are square-ish, I wanted to soften some of those edges. So I used an oval die on the 3″ x 4″ card, and it worked like a charm. Here are a few helpful tips for making this card design sing.
- First, back the focal image with 2 layers of dimensionals to make it stand out on the page.
- Next, die cut the ATC Tag from the June Amazing Paper Grace Club Kit from pink cardstock. It make a very pretty base for the image.
- Now, curve the flowery branch on the left hand side of the card to frame the image.
The Details
Turn a sticker into a little banner sentiment. First, mat it on a scrap of your pink cardstock. Then back it with dimensionals. Finish it up with bitty bows and buttons for the win.
Now mat another sticker tag on pink cardstock, punch a hole at the top and tie it into the flower spray. A gingham bow and big ole’ pink button add to the vintage charm of the design.
A Peek Inside
The video tutorial will show you how to place magnets to hold the flap in place. I’ve dressed up the fussy cut dog house with a cute puppy sticker. The images in this collection are so gorgeous!
The side pocket is the perfect spot to tuck in a little gift card wallet.
Now you get to lift the flap and see the surprises hiding inside. I’ll show you how to turn the image on top into a side pocket in the video tutorial below.
I can’t wait to give this darling card to Sophie. She keeps every card I’ve ever made her, so she can add this one to her collection.

What an adorable card, Kathy! I’ve had dogs all my life and nothing could be more true than that “needing love and a dog” sentiment. I just love all of those darling images of the little girls with their puppies. This is one of the sweetest cards ever! Thank you for sharing! Hugs!
Such an adorable little birthday card for your Sophie Grace with such a big impact! She is bound to luv this!!! Simply luv all your beautiful details and how you incorporated all those great Authentique pics! Another great “Kathy” original! I have a grandson turning 15 in 2 weeks and I just have to borrow your card plan …only using camping papers! Lol! Thank you yet again Kathy for another great inspiration and tutorial! P.S. luv the closet of ‘Goodness and Delight’ name! It brings such positivity to all of our goodies just waiting to be created and put to use! I really don’t have a closet left in my room …it was turned into a sewing nook by my sweet hubby for me …sooo …I will think of my whole room as ‘Goodness and Delight’ when I walk into it and not feel a bit guilty of all my goodies just waiting for me, to be created! …Now if I can just find more time!!! Big hugs …and sure hope your hubby is still improving! Suzy Q
So cute with the dogs. We don’t have any dogs but I had one as a child.
Here’s to Sophie and may she have the happiest of days and all her birthday wishes come true! I am sure this card will put a smile in her heart and she will have many happy memories whenever she gazes on your lovely creation. I am happy for the name change; because only sweet goodness seems to come from it with your creative touch. This is a beautiful memorable creation and those pictures make me smile – Does Sophie enjoy tea too?
Happy 12th birthday to Sophie Grace! She will love this card. It is perfect! And I love it too. Especially like your new name for the closet – The Closet of Goodness and Delight! Absolutely!! I will adopt this new name, thank you very much! lol
Happy Birthday to little Grace, well maybe not so little anymore. I’m sure she will LOVE this one as much as I do. Great card Kathy, love the images. What is it with vintage stuff and our hearts? I have a girlfriend that has a birthday on the 13th and I have everything ready to make her card, just have to have the time to get to it cause I am helping my neighbour fix my rotten deck. It’s a learning curve for sure and seeing what people did to make things “secure” back when this deck was built really is a disgrace to the field of carpenters. It was a chop job and the gal that would have had this built got taken. Anyway, off topic, I do have to get Gillian’s card made! Thanks for the inspiration Kathy and she loves cats and dogs but cats will be her theme. Have a great day!!
Adoring this card Kathy. I know of a little girl that would it. She has just gotten a Bernese Mountain dog puppy. So excited to make this for her. She’s 10 & I do think she’ll love it. Be well & hope hubby is getting better & better.
