Time for Tea Tutorial with Prima Cherry Sweet and How to Create a Floral Embellishment
Hello, Friends! It’s Wonderful Wednesday and I have a lovely Time for Tea Tutorial with Prima Cherry Sweet. Would you like to learn a tip that will help you stretch your patterned papers while still creating layered, dimensional card? I hope you’ll follow along as I put my stash of dies and ephemera to work!
Some of you recently asked me to show you how to create floral clusters like the one featured on this card. I generally adhere my flowers directly to the card base. But sometimes I want to have the freedom to move floral embellishments around to see where they look the best. That’s when I build the clusters separately. It’s a really helpful technique when you’re not exactly sure about placement.
Quick and Easy Layers
It’s been a while since I created a card where the die cut layers take a leading role. So easy, but so pretty, right? Simply layer the die cuts with foam pop dots to create lots of dimension. Then create a focal point with a pretty tea cup ephemera piece. Of course, you could use any ephemera you like as the focal point for the card. I just happen to love pretty teacups.
Use Your Scraps
Create a fun little flap element with a small scrap of designer paper.
- First, score a 1/2″ flap on the left hand side of your paper scrap.
- Next, adhere the flap behind the pink cardstock liner.
- Then adhere tags on both sides of the flap to act as a turn tag.
- Finally, dress up the front of the flap with cabinet card ephemera.
Another great tip for stretching your patterned papers is to use your scraps. I did not have a wide enough solid panel of paper for the top section of this card. So I found two scraps that could be cut to the correct height and turned them into a side pocket.
- First, adhere the wider left-hand panel to the card base.
- Next, place adhesive on the top, bottom and right hand side of the narrow panel and adhere on the right hand side of the card base.
- Now you have a lovely pocket. Cut some scraps, mat on cardstock top with ephemera pull tabs and tuck into the pocket for a delightful surprise.
