Travel Girl Luggage Mini Album
Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #22: Have a Nice Trip!
Hello, Friends! It’s time for the last challenge of 2014 over at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog. I’ve created a super fun Travel Girl Luggage mini album as my inspiration piece for this one, and I can’t wait to share it with you! But first, the details for this challenge:
Challenge #22 Have a Nice Trip!
Many of us travel around the holidays, so let’s celebrate our adventures! Dig into your hoard and find some items that are vacation or travel themed. Do you have a hoard of cruise ship ephemera? Do you have a box of transportation stamps? Do you have a stash of camping themed papers? Or piles of Disney embellishments? Show them off! Create a vacation or travel themed project for us!
Travel Girl Luggage Mini Album
I dug deep into my hoard this time around, pulling out some fabby papers from 2012 (October Afternoon Travel Girl) and some Tim Holtz pulleys that I’ve been hoarding forever. I added some little silver charms that have been in my stash of metal items for years and a 5″ square Mixed Media box from Graphic 45. I love the funky retro vibe of this project!
I painted the surface of my box with Deco Art “Treasure” chalk paint because I wanted it to look like the old Samsonite suitcase colors. I added luscious gray plaid ribbon to go with the metal wheels. I don’t know about you, but I’m lovin’ this color combo!
This is the first inside panel when you open the box. It is designed so that a photo can be tucked behind the border and medallion.
And here is the inside “cover” page. I used my craft knife to cut the image out of the center of this cute tag to make it look like a slide mount. Remember those? The top is left open so a small photo can be tucked in that space.
The box opens up into these fun panels. You already saw a close up of the panel on the left.
The panel on the right has room for a photo because I glued items in so that there’s room to tuck in a picture or souvenir. The brad at the top pulls out to reveal a tag, and there’s also a pocket on the far right, filled with retro travel- themed journaling cards.
I decided not to cover up the screw heads with paper, because I like the industrial touch they add.
The inside of the box is lined with cute paper. I left this plain for two reasons: one, I love this paper. Two, I wanted there to be plenty of space for photos and souvenirs.
This accordion album is loaded with room for photos, pockets for tags and retro ephemera.
I even created a vintage “handle” for my luggage by using a banner element from the ephemera pack.
I matted it on grey cardstock for strength, and then curved it with a bone folder and glued the two handle ends to the box top, topping them with button “screws.”
The sponsor for this challenge is Spellbinders Paper Arts.

Love this Travel Album and the paper you used is just so perfect for the theme. I like how it has a Travel Log, how awesome is that to list all the places you visited with the pictures you place inside. : ) And I agree with you on not covering up the screws, I like them showing, too.
I enjoyed being a Guest Designer at Craft Hoarders Anonymous and visiting all the DT blogs and creations.
