Trick or Treat Pocket Card

Trick or Treat Pocket Card with Really Reasonable Ribbon and Crafty Secrets

Hello, Friends!

Oh, it’s my favorite time of year, and I’m having the best time preparing for all the upcoming autumn holidays!  Today, I’ve dug into my stash of Really Reasonable Ribbon and Crafty Secrets goodies to concoct a spook-tacular Trick or Treat Pocket card that I think you are going to love!

Kathy by Design/Trick or Treat Pocket CardThese sneaky little Trick or Treat mice are so full of Halloween mischief that I can’t help but laugh at them!  The darling image is from the Crafty Secrets Digital Vintage Halloween Jumbo Kit.   I also printed my too cute to spook Halloween papers from that same kit.  But first I altered them with my PaintShop Pro program, turning the orange and black papers into a soft teal to pick up on the colors in the image.  That’s the great thing about digital papers…you can make them totally your own!

Kathy by Design/Trick or Treat Pocket CardAfter matting and layering all my papers and images, I began to embellish the card with Halloween ribbon from RRR.  The bow in the top left corner is made with Orange Sheer Organza with a Satin Center ribbon and is topped with a suitably spooky black burlap string bow an orange daisy and felt leaves.

Kathy by Design/Trick or Treat Pocket Card I added a strip of cutie pie Pumpkin Ribbon at the base of my focal image, then used my Zutter Bow-it-All Tool to create this super loopy Black and Orange burlap string bow.  Once the bow is tied, I separate all the loops, and then just attach the center with hot glue.

Crafty Secrets RRR 04 The wooden jack-o-lantern just pops off this base.  And do you see my metal black cat charm that’s tucked behind?  Those sneaky mice better watch out!love the way the orange in the ribbon enhances the orange in the papers.  But the real fun in this card is hiding inside….let’s take a look, shall we?

Kathy by Design/Trick or Treat Pocket CardI’ve decorated the upper half of this top fold card with more cute papers from the Digital Kit, and I’ve also added a very jolly Halloween pumpkin image from the Vintage Halloween Booklet.

Crafty Secrets RRR 06The bottom half of the card has a pocket stuffed to the gills with tags, charms and other goodies.  The image on the pocket base is from our super cute Halloween Time Vintage Cuts. The festive ribbon and burlap string trim makes this feel like a party in a card.

Crafty Secrets RRR 07Here’s  a closer look at the tags that are inside the pocket.  Each one is embellished with ribbon, twine, metal bits and super cute images.  To create the curled burlap string, I dampened the burlap string with a 50/50 solution of liquid glue and water, then coiled the loose ends around the barrel of a thin artist’s brush.  Heat it gently with your heat gun, then slide it carefully off the barrel of the brush and VOILA!  Curlicue burlap string.  Easy peasy!

This would be so fun to receive in the mail, especially if you happened to tuck a little gift card for ice cream into the pocket!

I’m linking this card up to the “Stamps be Gone” Challenge over at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.

And, if you’d like to purchase this Trick or Treat Pocket card, you can find it in my ETSY shop.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheerio,

kathy

Kathy, what an awesome card stuffed with fun treats, and what a genius trick you shared using the glue solution to make the curly burlap string bow! Love that little detail! Wow, there’s so many great details to look at….but I love those trick or treating mice, the little cobweb peeking from under the pumpkin, and your trademark perfect stitching! That stitching always seals the deal for me! What a fun, fabulous card! I can’t wait to get the ones I recently ordered from your shop! Big hugs from one of your greatest fans!
