RRR Anything Goes Challenge: Vintage Style Golf Themed Masculine Birthday Card
Hello, Ribbon Lovers! It’s time for another fabulous Anything Goes Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon. I’m still working my way through family birthdays. I made this golf themed masculine birthday card for my brother in law. He was a golf pro for many years, and even designed the course where he worked as the pro. Now retired, he lives in a golf course community and still loves to play. Hopefully, this card made especially for him will be a hole in one instead of a bogey!
Adding ribbon or trim to a masculine card can sometimes be tricky. I have several ribbons that I always keep on hand because they work so well on masculine cards. This Ivory, Brown and Copper Plaid is one of my favorites. I love the way it looks with these papers from Authentique’s Rugged collection.
Distressing, embossing and inking give this card a great outdoorsy, masculine feel. I even found a golf tee in my stash and used as a hanger for my little sticker banner.
The soft woven texture of this ribbon makes it so easy to tie. To add a little extra texture, I topped it with a natural burlap string bow and a leather button from my stash.
A Peek Inside
You’ll find more references to my brother-in-law’s hobby on the inside of this golf themed masculine birthday card. A small pocket holds a ribbon topped tag and a little sweet treat. The sentiment is stamped on a 3″ x 4″ journal card from the Rugged collection.
Here’s a closer look at the tag.
Now It’s Your Turn

Great card, Kathy. The men in my life golf. ..etc. when it comes to sports so this card design will be so helpful to me as I create for them! The RRR ribbon you used is a great choice for this card. I’ll be checking it out…as well as the Rugged paper. Thanks for sharing this.
No more excuses now for not making male cards! This is great for golfing friends. TFS and covering all different sports – just need one now for the men that love their pint!!!
