Wind Back Wonderful Wednesday with Carta Bella Homemade
Hello, Friends! Welcome to our first Wind Back Wonderful Wednesday! Today we’re making a quick and easy card with Carta Bella Homemade. This cheery collection fits right in with our “Cozy Kitchen” theme for January. If you don’t have this collection in your stash, you can always follow the card “recipe” using any collection you wish.
Quick & Easy Card Recipe
Do you have a good, basic recipe in your kitchen that you turn to when you need to prepare a quick meal? Today’s card “recipe” can be used any time you need to create a quick card. follows this easy recipe:
- First, cut a 5 1/2″ x 11″ panel of white cardstock and score in half at 5 1/2″ to form a top fold card base.
- Next, cut a 5 3/8″ panel of either patterned paper (as I did here) or cardstock and top it with a 5″ square of designer paper. You can stitch around the edges of the 5″ panel to add a bit of homespun charm to your card.
- Now, place 1/2″ Scor-Tape or other strong double-sided adhesive across the center of your card. Top this with red plaid ribbon and a bit of rick-rack.
- Mat or stitch a 4″ image from the paper collection onto a slightly larger panel of cardstock. Place foam tabs or tape on the top and bottom and adhere in the center of the card.
- Finally, place your embellishments so that they form a sort of triangle on the card front.
A Peek Inside
The design of this card interior is another classic way to dress up a quick and easy card. Here’s how:
- First, line the top and bottom of the card with 5 1/4″ panels of cardstock.
- Next, cut a 9 1/4″ x 4″ panel of patterned paper for the top half of the card. Score a 4″ flap on the left hand side.
- Cut a 5 1/2″ (approx.) x 2 1/4″ strip of cardstock and score a 2 1/4″ flap on the left. Adhere the long side of the flap behind the flap page, then adhere the flap page over the cardstock layer.
- Cover the front of the “arm” with a 2″ image from the 6×6 paper pad. Place magnets as seen in the video tutorial.
- Now, mat the 4×4 image on cardstock and adhere to the front of the flap. Leave about 3/4″ on the right hand side free from adhesive.
- Cut a 5″ x 7 3/4″ panel of patterned paper for the bottom and score a 2 1/4″ flap on the bottom edge. Fold the flap up to form a pocket and use gussets to seal the sides.
I hope you enjoy making many cards with this simple design.
