Winter Feathered Friends Tea Party in a Box for Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello, Friends!  One of my favorite things about this season is my Winter Feathered Friends who visit my back yard bird feeder.  We have a family of cardinals and a lovely bunch of blue jays who brighten the winter landscape all season long.  This Winter Feathered Friends Tea Party in a Box is inspired by them.

Bluejays and Blue Dark

It’s no secret that I am a fan of winter blues.  These icy shades remind me of my Vermont childhood.  If you’ve never experienced a Vermont winter twilight, then you may not be familiar with the particular shade of blue that tints the evening hours.  We called it “blue dark” and it was absolutely breathtaking.  I don’t miss the ice and cold of those winters, but I am glad that I was able to experience those beautiful moments growing up. I’ve tried to re-create that particular event in this creation.

French Blue Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon was the perfect pairing for this project. I topped my triple bow cluster off with some Silver Metallic String to amp up the sparkly, winter feel of this card.

TIP: String tinsel twine through the openings in some vintage lace  to add extra winter sparkle to your card design.  Top it off with pearls and vintage buttons.

A Peek Inside

The blues carry the day inside the card as well.  It’s always fun to tuck sweet surprises into a card design.  Take a closer look:

This flap page opens to reveal a mini waterfall folio and a wooden snowflake ornament.  The neat thing about snowflakes is, they are a great design feature all winter long!

You could easily put this piece out as winter home décor.  Then add in photos of your winter wonderland to make it really special.

Tea Party in a Box

When it’s chilly outside, it’s time to put the kettle on!  So I’ve tucked a special little Tea Party for One inside this box pocket.

What a great way to brighten up a grey, wintry day!

We don’t get “real” winter here in North Carolina, but we usually get at least one little snow event each winter.  I don’t love it the way I did when I was a kid, but its beauty still makes me smile.

I hope you are staying warm, cozy and creative during these winter months!

Love this with those little blue jays and sweet details. I am really hoping for some snow this year, but so far all we have had is rain, rain, and more rain. That is the thing about the South, not much of the white stuff, but when it does come, it is such a treat. Stay warm and have a nice comfy cuppa~

Kathy, what beautiful embellishments let alone the papers! Everything about this folio is a joy.

Happy Christmas creating, and thankyou indeed for sharing.

Kathy, this tea party in a box is drop dead gorgeous! Your embellishments are so beautiful and dress it up in spectacular fashion! Oh how I love the birdies and the gorgeous blue color palette in this paper collection. It really puts me in a Winter mood. Thank you for sharing this beauty! Hugs!

The vintage look of this card is so pleasing. I recently discovered metal corner embellishments and added a bunch to my inventory. Beautiful floral arrangement…love all the little bits and pieces of winter tucked in amongst the flowers. Considering the overall color choices on this card, those little snippets of evergreen foliage are a nice surprise. Beautiful lace!! So sweet that even your treats color match this card! I enjoyed reading about the cardinals and jays in your back yard. No cardinals on the West Coast, but we do have curious and pesky jays…they like to peck at the pinecones piled in baskets on my porch. Beautiful card!!

This card is gorgeous and I love the waterfall you included in the tea party in a box. All your details are so perfect. I am in Northern California and we have had snow for 2 days. It is so beautiful and I am thankful I am inside warm and cozy.

    Hi Kathy,
What a beautiful card! Blue is such a calming color even when you pair it with the ice and the cold of a winter storm. This is one of my favorite collections!
I also have a family of red birds and blue jays that frequent my back yard. I thought they would leave and winter someplace warmer but I guess they are staying! Looks like I need a bird feeder. I live in southern Indiana and it does get cold here. Guess I should google cardinals and blue jays to see if I need a bird house too! Hugs and Merry Christmas!
