Would You Like to Build a Snowman Shaker Card

Stamperia Traditional Christmas Snowman Shaker Card Reneabouquets Beautiful Board by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design for Really Reasonable Ribbon Photo 01

Really Reasonable Ribbon December Blog Hop: Snowman Shaker Card

Hello, Friends!  Don’t you just love this Snowman Shaker Card?  It’s my inspiration piece for the Really Reasonable Ribbon December Blog Hop.  Welcome to the hop!  You should be coming here from Ginny’s gorgeous blog.  The Winter Woodland Ribbon Assortment is extra gorgeous this month.  I liked them all so much that I ended up using three selections on this sweet Snowman Shaker Card.  Take a peek:

Would You Like to Build a Snowman Shaker Card?

This 5″ x 7″ top fold shaker card is basically one layer of Stamperia’s Classic Christmas paper layered with ribbons and topped with a Reneabouquets Snowflake Frame and Beautiful Board.  Here’s how to build the card front:

  • First, create a 5″ x 7″ top fold card base from kraft cardstock.
  • Then machine stitch a 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ panel of Stamperia paper to a slightly larger panel of deep red cardstock.
  • Place 1/2″ Scor-tape along the bottom edge of this panel, then adhere Sherry Diamond Satin Ribbon over it.
  • Next, place a 1/4″ strip of Scor-tape in the center of the Sherry Diamond Satin Ribbon and adhere a strip of the 3/8″ Bird Print Satin over it.
  • Now heat emboss the Reneabouquets Decorative Snowflake Frame with WOW! Dazzling Diamonds Embossing Powder.
  • Then die cut a circle from clear cardstock and adhere to the back of the frame.
  • Next, place 3 rows of 1/8″ foam strips on the back of the frame.
  • Place your sequin mix in the area where you plan to adhere the frame.  Then remove the tape liner and press the frame in place.
  • Place foam tape on the back of Jack’s Snowman Beautiful Board and adhere to the shaker frame.
The Bow Cluster

Use your Zutter Bow-it-All Tool to tie a 3″ double loop bow from Sherry Diamond Satin Ribbon.  Adhere in the left hand corner of the snowflake frame.  Tie jingle bells together with White Iridescent Metallic string and adhere to the knot of the bow.  Then tie a double loop bow with the string and adhere over it.  Top with a poinsettia and holly leaves.

Finish the card by adhering a chipboard sentiment over the ribbon border.  Then adhere flat back pearls around the snowflake frame.

A Peek Inside

I was on the tail end of this pretty paper collection, so I had to do some creative paper piecing inside this card.  This led to a new style of pocket on the top and a layered pocket flap on the bottom.

Here’s a look at the goodies inside this pretty card.

Kathy, without fail I look forward to viewing your blog for the RRR hops charming entries; they always take my breath away. This one is a Christmas card with all of the happiness of Christmas being expressed. Such a feeling of nostalgia with the Reneabouquets’ Jack’s Snowman and isn’t it funny the weather forecast is for a Nor’easter. Now folks some of you on the East coast will have a chance to make this scene in real life!

Loving this sweet folio. The snowflake die cut frame is perfect to frame the snowman! I like that you used a variety of ribbons and stretched your paper by creating a different pocket. I’m always impressed by your creativity!

Everything you do is so very special, Kathy, and simply a joy to look at (can’t even imagine how the recipient must feel! lol). Shakers have always been my favorite type of card and this one is so cute with the button shaker mix. Love the birdies and snowman – two more of my favorite things. The snowflake frame is really stunning. And then there’s the gorgeous ribbon & all the pretty layers. Beautiful perfection! Have a very Merry Christmas!!

You’ve created a lovely snapshot of a vintage Christmas. LOVE the pieced pockets…very festive look and a very creative way to use those scrap pieces! “Necessity is the mother of invention”…so true!! I’m definitely going to purchase more of this Stamperia collection before they stop printing it. That little post card is so pretty!! Stitching adds another wonderful detail to this vintage project. Nice decision to layer kraft and that deep red. Only recently have I come to appreciate shades of turquoise and red together…have no idea what took me so long. Whenever I add jingle bells to a project, I imagine the mail person breaking into a smile as the card is placed in the mailbox! Looks like this gorgeous RRR collection was designed to coordinate with this paper collection…nice! Beautifully designed and constructed project, Kathy!

What a delightful card, Kathy! The RRR for this month is so wintery…your card (and these ribbons) are just the thing for post-Christmas winter season cards. I’m thinking January and February birthdays (have a few in my family). Something special like your card is what is needed during these stressful times. tfs-stay well. Hugs.

I love the warmth and simplicity of this card! The farmyard/barn just draw you in, and the ribbon brings it all together. Another card that encourages me to spin off of it. I don’t have snowman, but can think of other focal pieces that would work…just love your ideas Kathy!
