Buzzing Bees and Summer Sunflowers

Buzzing Bees and Summer Sunflowers

Hello, Friends!  It’s the Dog Days of August, and Buzzing Bees and Summer Sunflowers fill the garden with beauty and life.  It’s hard to believe that in just a few short weeks, these lazy, hazy summer days will fade away into fall weather.  This sweet “made from scraps” card features beautiful trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

It is no secret that I  love gingham ribbon.  And this Moss/Cream plaid is one of my favorites.  it bridges the seasons very nicely, and I think it looks terrific tucked under a little cluster of summer flowers.  A burlap string bow adds a touch of rustic elegance, too.

Spellbinder’s Wax Seal of the month adds a nice detail to the tag that I’ve tucked between the card layers.  If you haven’t tried playing with wax seals yet, I highly recommend it, as it is loads of fun!

Here’s a sweet tip for all of us cardmakers:  Arrange your ribbon on your card so that it forms a triangle.  This draws the eye from element to element on the card so that  you can “see” all the details.

A Peek Inside

Add a flap page inside your card, and suddenly, you have a mini folio on your hands.  It’s one of my favorite little card making tricks.

Create a cute pocket with a journal card from the paper collection.  Then tuck a packet of flower seeds inside.  Now your card is also a gift.

Share a cup of summer tea and honey with a dear friend, and don’t forget to tuck in a ribbon-topped bookmark!  This is one card that will be cherished for a long time to come.

Our garden is loaded with tomatoes and jalapenos at present.  It’s been keeping me busy in the kitchen making salsa and also marinara.  It will be like feasting on summer time memories when we pull these goodies from the freezer this winter.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

I really do like the way the tiny jars of jam with a plaid cover and string ties in with the ribbon bows, it balances the piece and adds that much more interest. A delightful folio with plenty of detail, colour, and fun!
Plenty of visitors down here, they are going out to watch the whales and enjoy the spectacle.
