Hello, Friends!  Thanksgiving is looming on the horizon, so I thought it would be nice to share an Autumn Tea Party in a Tag Tutorial with you today.  These lovely little tags are filled with fall charm, and perfect for your Thanksgiving table scape, autumn birthdays, craft fairs, or hostess gifts.  It’s also a great friendship, thinking of you, or get well item to have on hand.

Once again, we are working with 49 & Market Country Heart Cafe.  I hope you’ve enjoyed our month of projects with this rustic collection.  I know I have!  Today’s tea party in a tag project is a really fun make, so I’m excited to share it with you.

Butterflies, Sunflowers and Paper Lollipops

There’s a lot to love in this sweet little number!  The party gets started with a clever gatefold slider on the front of the tag.

Open the gates to read this sweet message inside.  And do you spy the sweet little dangle charm?  It’s the little details that really make this tag special.

Treats and Sweets

The back side of the tag is a box pocket filled to the brim with sweets and treats.  There’s even a hidden paper clip bookmark clipped onto the pocket edge.  This design is soooo simple and takes about 5 minutes to  make.  I’ll show you how in the tutorial.

Fill your box pocket with anything you can dream up.  I chose a tea party theme with chocolate, cookies, tea, honey stick, demitasse spoon, mini note card and a paper lollipop.  But if you were making this for a scrapbooking buddy, you could add ribbon, stickers, small tags, lace, buttons. or foam tabs.  Wouldn’t these be fun to make for a crop?

Hidden Pop Up Panel Card Tutorial with 49 & Market Country Heart Cafe

Hello, Friends!  We have a fabulous Hidden Pop Up Panel Card Tutorial for this Wonderful Wednesday session!  I’m so excited to share this new fun fold card design with you, especially since it’s made with the gorgeous Country Heart Cafe Collection!

I got the idea for this card base from a photo on Pinterest.  Of course, there was no tutorial.  So out came my sketch notebook, ruler and pencil.  My idea was to add a pop up panel to the card to make it extra fun to open.  And the design seemed simple enough.  But it took attempts later, to finally “nailed” all the scores, cuts and measurements.  My trash bin will testify to this fact.

That’s how much I liked this card design.  I was willing to wade through failed effort after failed effort to bring it to life.

Was it worth it?

You be the judge!

Flower Card Hidden Pop Up Panel Card

How cute is this little flower cart card?  As with most of my cards, it measures 5″ x 7″.  I added a few handmade sunflowers, some die cut frames and a bit of ribbon to the front cover.  But that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

This z-fold style card has a nifty little mechanism that hides the pop up panel.  Now it can stand for display and has a cool 3-D effect. But that’s not all!

Hidden behind the front cover art is a really fun little top fold panel.  And yes, as the name suggests, you will find a pop up feature tucked inside.  There’s another surprise on the back of this card, but you’ll have to watch the video to see that.

Floral Doily Hidden Panel Pop Up Card

What if we made this card on a 7″ x 5″ horizontal base?  That could be super cute, right?  So I did!  (It only took about 4 tries to get it right this time.  Progress!)

Once again,  there’s a cool pop up card hidden behind the front panel.

Fall Flowers Coffee House Card

In case you were wondering, these cards are rather addictive.  Once I got the hang of making them, I could not stop myself.  I added some mixed media inking and embossing to the 3rd card.  That was fun!

Would you like to learn how to create both the vertical and the horizontal versions of this card base?  Well, you are in luck, because I filmed tutorials for both.  I hope you’ll grab a cuppa and a snack and join me for some fun fold card making over on my YouTube channel.

Did you enjoy that?  I know I did!

I’ll be back next week with one final Country Heart Cafe project to share with you.  Then we will be moving on to Christmas crafting.  (How is that even possible?)

In case you missed it, I shared a sneak peek of the paper collections we’ll be working with this holiday season.  You can find it HERE.

Country Heart Cafe Kitchen Banner Tutorial

49 & Market Country Heart Cafe Kitchen Banner Tutorial

Hello Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and I have the coziest 49 & Market Country Heart Cafe Kitchen Banner Tutorial to share with you.  This is the perfect bit of fall home decor to hang in the coffee area of your kitchen or office.  Vintage coffee brown buttons, antique lace, gingham ribbon and burlap string….can it get any more cozy than that combo?

By Special Request

It’s been quite a while since I made a banner.  Not because I don’t enjoy making them; I do!  But photographing them is so hard!  But because so many of you asked me to make a banner with this beautiful paper collection, I did it!  And can I just tell you something?  It’s 10 times prettier than these photographs!

I created a tray full of sunflowers and foliage to embellish the banner…and future projects that I have in mind for this lovely collection.  That took the better part of an afternoon in the studio.  But I love the way they turned out.

From Arch to Pennant

Because I really wanted this banner to be unique, I decided to use an arch die to cut the pennants.  There’s something very warm and inviting about that rounded edge.  I used a Heartfelt Creations Eyelet Frame Gateway arch that I had in my stash.  Sadly, it’s discontinued, but you can easily sub in any arch die ( or banner die) from your stash and be just fine.

My Favorite Pennant

While I love every detail of this pretty banner, the central pennant is my favorite.  And yes, it’s because of the shaker window.  I wish you could all see this in real life, as those gems and sequins sparkle like dewdrops on my faux windowpanes.

TIP:  Pair up your handmade flowers with fall flowers from your stash.  I mimicked the color palette of the laser cut wildflowers when I selected posies from my Little Birdie Stash.

Mix Things Up

Personally,, I like it when a banner has different sized/shaped pennants.  So I created 3 large pennants and 2 each of the middle and small sized bases.  I used both the 12×12 and the 6×8 pad to cut my pennants along with scrap pieces for the small ends.

TIP:  Select your favorite die cut and place it in the center of your banner.  Add lots of dimension with foam adhesive and some pretty flowers, too.

You can find linked supplies and some basic instructions in the description box below the video on my YouTube channel.  I’ve also tagged items in the video for your shopping convenience.  Of course, you can find a linked supply list below this post.

I’ll be back next Wednesday with a card tutorial…or two…featuring this beautiful paper collection.  I hope to see you then,

Part 2 Country Heart Cafe Party Folio Tutorial

Interactive Pages, Kinetic Waterfall, Trifold Card & Hidden Paperclips

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and time to share this  Part 2 Country Heart Cafe Party Folio Tutorial.   Today is all about interactive pages, hidden paper clips, and a kinetic waterfall.  There’s even a fun little card tutorial tossed in for good measure.

We began this series last week.  So if you missed that tutorial showing how to create the folio base, cover and box pocket, you can find it HERE.

Fall is Just Around the Corner

Although you couldn’t prove it by our temperatures here in North Carolina, we really are on the threshold of autumn.  Personally, it can’t get here soon enough!  I’m more than ready for crisp, cool mornings, clear blue skies and maybe even snuggling up under a favorite blanket. So maybe this glorious fall paper collection will get the thermometer headed in the right direction.

Although we created the front cover together last week, this week I added the back cover and a fun dangle charm to the spine.

A Peek Inside

Did you get your folio base built last week?  If so, you’ll be ready for all the neat features in this week’s tutorial.   Here’s what you have to look forward to:

  • First, an adorable flip/flap pull out folio with the cutest hidden paper clips
  • Next, quick and easy accordion folio feature
  • Got scraps?  Learn how to use them to make a really classy trifold card.
  • Gotta love pockets!  Get ready for the easiest double slash pocket tutorial ever!
  • Learn a fun “belt buckle” closure for a gatefold page.

This is a lengthy (almost one hour!) tutorial, so you’ll want to grab a cuppa and a snack as you follow along.

Where do I find the Details?

Several of you have asked where to find the linked supply list and Basic Measurements on YouTube.  First, you need to be viewing the video on YouTube from  a computer, laptop, pad, or your phone.  Next, look for the title below the video.  Then, look for the word “more” shortly after the title.  When you click on the word more, the description box will drop down, and you’ll find a linked supply list and measurements written down for you there.  I also tag items within the video for your shopping convenience.

I hope that helps!

What’s Up Next?

I’ll be back next week with a Country Heart Cafe banner tutorial for the folks who requested it.  I’m gonna start making handmade sunflowers today as I prepare all the elements.  So get ready for a little home decor session.

Until then, friends, I wish you joy and creativity!

Country Heart Cafe Party Folio Tutorial

49 & Market Country Heart Cafe Party Folio Tutorial for Wonderful Wednesday

Hello, Friends!  Our Wonderful Wednesday project this week is a 49 & Market Country Heart Cafe Party Folio Tutorial.  We’re kicking off the month of September with an invitation for fall to come peeking in our windows!

This large party in a box folio measures 6 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ with a 2″ spine, so there’s lots of room for interactive elements on the inside.  )Just wait til you see it fold out! This one just goes and goes!)

Because I’m spending a lot of time on rehab after my knee surgery right now, we’ll take a couple weeks to build this folio out.  Today, we’ll focus on building the base, the box pocket, and the cover.

Sunflowers Outside My Window

This cozy kitchen window looks out onto a field of sunflowers.  You can learn how to make the shaker element in today’s video.  I added a brown gingham bow, fall flowers, and a burlap trim border to amp up the country vibe.

When I asked you what you wanted to make with this beautiful collection, y’all had a LOT of ideas: folios, mini album, cards, a banner, and a party in a box.  I’m going to combine several of those requests in this one project.  We will make a banner…but not until later this month.  Sound good?

Knee Surgery Update

The latest news is that I am doing great 8 weeks out from my total knee replacement.  I’m still dealing with stiffness, fatigue and some discomfort, of course.  This is a long healing process that takes up to a year! In addition to my bending and extension exercises, I’m walking over a mile a day in 10-15 minute increments.  My physical therapy has moved from more passive treatments to building strength back into my calves, quads and hamstrings.  We’re also working on balance, which is harder than it sounds.

I had PT today, and it was downright rigorous, and that’s a good thing because it means I’ve turned a corner in my recovery.  Yay!  But it also means that I was exhausted when I got home.  As soon as I finish writing this blog post, I’m gonna go ice, elevate, and maybe take a little nap!

You can find the basic measurements and linked supply list in the description box below the video on my YouTube channel.

I’ll see you next week with Part 2 of our Country Heart Cafe Party Box Folio Tutorial.  Until then,

Cheerio,

kathy
