Fall Tiered Pop Up Cards Tutorial for Choose Your Own Adventure Wonderful Wednesday

Hello, Friends!  How you do feel about a Fall Tiered Pop Up Cards Tutorial?  It’s a Choose Your Own Adventure Wonderful Wednesday, which means we will be making two cards using two different paper collections and one unique card design.  This is fast becoming one of my favorite Wonderful Wednesday features.  I hope you are enjoying it, too.

This week we are working with Simple Stories Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze and Graphic 45 Celebrate the Seasons September papers.  It’s Autumn Fest at its best, and I think you are really going to enjoy the pop up feature on these pretty cards.

So let’s get started, shall we?

Card Adventure #1:  Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate September Tiered Pop Up Card

The base for both cards today is a simple 6×6 top fold.  Each cover features an altered Prima Resin Frame, and the exact same layout.

TIP:  When working with bold colors, busy patterns and large images, it is often a good idea to keep your card design very simple.  For this card I matted layers of Patterns & Solids and 8×8 papers with plain cardstock to help separate the patterns.  Embellish a simple framed image with flowers, vintage button, postage stamps and a twine bow.

Inside the card folio, I’ve created a lovely pull down flap.  When the magnetic flap opens, this tiered pop up feature is revealed.  Once you learn how to make these, you’ll want to do it all the time!

Card Adventure #2:  Simple Stories Autumn Breeze Tiered Pop Up Cards

Can you see how this card layout is identical to the G45 card?

TIP:  Need to save time?  Use the same card recipe on multiple cards and you’ll be amazed at how many cards you can create in a short time!

Here you can see the interior pocket and the front of the pull down flap.  The pop up feature is hidden behind.  I’ll show it to you and teach you how to make it in the video tutorial.

Choose Your Own Adventure Pocket Easel Cards Tutorial with Simple Stories Simple Vintage Woodlands and Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate August Papers

Hello, Friends!  Are you ready for a  Choose Your Own Adventure Pocket Easel Cards Tutorial?  We’re going to make two cards with two different paper collections and one simple card design.  This has fast become one of my favorite Wonderful Wednesday series.  And today, as a bonus, I’m using one of the adorable Cluster Pocket Embellishments that we made together 2 weeks as my card front.  How fun is that?

Our first adventure is this 7″ x 5″ easel card.  If the card front looks vaguely familiar, that’s because the focal image is one of the Cluster Pocket Embellishments we made 2 weeks ago.  Boy, does having a stack of those on hand ever make for a quick studio session!

Add a couple of ephemera pieces to the card background,  embellish with a few fall flowers and ribbon, tuck in a couple of wooden buttons and this card is done!

Here’s a peek at the inside.  The pocket doubles as the stopper for the easel mechanism.  It also gives me a place to tuck in a little journal card and tea envelope.

Our second card-making adventure is a bold and bright summery number dressed up with G45 Season to Celebrate.  As you can see, the focal image is another little Cluster Pocket Embellishment.

TIP:  Stitch panels of patterned paper scraps over a cardstock base to make a custom card background.

Here’s a closer look at the Cluster Pocket inserts.  These are such fun to make!

The inside of this card also has tea and honey crystals tucked inside.  But I also added the August Journal Cards and a small image from the paper collection to round things out.

Let’s Make Envelope Shaker Cards!

Let’s Make Envelope Shaker Cards!  Wonderful Wednesday Choose Your Own Adventure with Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate and Paper Rose Studio Bees & Butterflies

Hello, Friends!  Let’s Make Envelope Shaker Cards together today!  It’s a Wonderful Wednesday Choose Your Own Adventure episode.  What’s that all about?  Well, we create two cards together using two different paper collections and one fun card “recipe”.  Our paper collections today are Graphic 45’s Season to Celebrate July papers and Paper Rose Studio Bees & Butterflies.

I developed this envelope shaker card design especially for today’s tutorial.  You will learn how to create your own 7″ x 5″ envelope using only cardstock and a scoring tool.  Then we’ll attach a top fold card to the envelope front, using the back side as a lovely place to stash little journal cards, tags and treats.

Sound like fun?  I thought so!

Envelope Shaker Card Adventure #1: Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate July papers

This bright and cheery poppy teapot card is our first adventure in card making.  After I show you how to create and line the envelope, I’ll show you how to combine these patterned papers, transform a chipboard frame into a shaker box, and soften the bold patterns with a bit of lace.

Do you love pockets as much as I do?  We use a journaling card from the 12×12 July papers to make a fun side pocket for our sunflower seeds and a chipboard tag.

Here’s a peek at the back side of the envelope.  I’ve tucked some journal cards, tea bag and a honey stick in here, but wouldn’t it be fun to add a bunch of photos of the birthday girl too?  It’s a great gift idea!

Card Adventure #2:  Paper Rose Studio Bees & Butterflies Envelope Shaker Card

Our second card adventure is like sunshine on paper!  Rich gold and green tones play nicely with our bee and beehive theme.

There’s another sweet little pocket tucked inside the card base, too.

A magnetic closure keeps the envelope flap in place.

And here’s a look at the goodies tucked inside this envelope pocket.

Choose Your Own Adventure Shaker Pop Up Cards Tutorial:  Ciao Bella Majestic Dream                  & G45 Season to Celebrate

Hello, Friends!  Today we have a really fun shaker Pop Up Cards Tutorial to share with you.  Yes, its a Wonderful Wednesday Choose Your Own Adventure!  This means we’ll be using two different paper collections to create two cards with the same card “recipe”.  Our collections this month are the lovely Ciao Bella Majestic Dream and the vibrant Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate.

Sound like fun?  Let’s dig in!

Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate Shaker Pop Up Card Folio

Our first card is made with Graphic 45’s Season to Celebrate Spring papers.  Vibrant pinks, purples and greens remind us of flower beds filled with blooming iris, azaleas, dianthus and fresh green leaves.  I’m partial to the tea theme, myself.  But then you knew that, didn’t you?

Each card folio measures 5″ x 7″ with a 1/2″ spine.  This gives us lots of room for a dimensional pop up scene inside the card, and room for a pocket, too.

Graphic 45- Season to Celebrate-Shaker Pop Up Card Tutorial-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

This is such a cheery, easy to make card!  I think you’ll enjoy following along with the step by step video tutorial posted below.

Ciao Bella Majestic Dreams Home Sweet Home Shaker Pop Up Card Tutorial

I love this Reneabouquets beautiful board frame as a shaker element!  Here’s how I colored it to match the sweet house image inside the frame:

  • First, use a blending tool to add a heavy layer of Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink over the entire frame surface.
  • Next, sprinkle liberally with clear embossing powder and heat.
  • Add large wooden buttons to the corners of the frame and you’re done!

That was easy, wasn’t it?

Here’s a peek inside the card.  To make the pocket on the pop up flap, simply trim around the top of a 6×6 image, score the sides and bottom and adhere.  Now you can tuck sweet little tags and journal cards inside along with a packet of poppy seeds.

Flip the pocket flap down to reveal this dimensional pop up scene.  Oh, how I love opening a pop up card!

Although I do not share a step by step for this card, it is made in the same way as the G45 Season to Celebrate version.  Just change out  your papers, and you’re good to go.

Tea Party in a Book Box Tutorial

Tea Party in a Book Box Tutorial with G45 Season to Celebrate & Prima The Home Baker

Happy Wonderful Wednesday, Friends!  This week I’m sharing a Tea Party in a Book Box Tutorial as our Card of the Month feature.  Do you remember those old “Choose Your Own Adventure” books?  My kids loved them, and I enjoyed them, too.  The basic premise of the series was that you, the reader, got to choose from a list of options, and that choice determined the plot outcome.

This usually led to a disaster, but I promise you that today’s tutorial will only lead to crafting joy, no matter which option you choose.  That’s because both projects follow the same design and measurements for the folio base.  You, the crafter, get to choose which crafting adventure you want to pursue.

Sound like fun?  Let’s dig in!

Option 1: Prima Marketing “The Home Baker” Tea Party in a Book Box

Prima Marketing-The Home Baker-Reneabouquets-Tea Party in a Book Box-Tutorial-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

How sweet is this baking themed folio featuring Prima Marketing “The Home Baker?”  Since our theme for the month of January is “Cozy Kitchen” I just had to use this collection again.

Our book box measures 5″ x 7″ x 1″ and is so quick and easy to make that you’ll want to create stacks of them to use with all kinds of collections.

I really can’t call this one a card, friends.  Something strange happened while I was designing the base: the card turned into a folio.  Oops!  But I think you’ll forgive me when you see all the great features I’ve tucked inside.  Like these flap pages, for instance.  You’ll get to see what is hidden behind them in the video I’ve posted below.

But I will tell you that there’s another super cute pop up scene for starters.  You’ll have to watch the video to see the rest.

Option 2:  Graphic 45 Season to Celebrate Tea Party in a Book Box

Graphic 45-Season to Celebrate-Tea Party in a Book Box Tutorial-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Since I promised to create a project with Graphic 45 “Season to Celebrate” each month, I also just had to make another folio.  The measurements and directions for the base are the same as Option #1.  But just like our “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, the end result is slightly different.

Season to Celebrate-Graphic 45-Kathy Clement-Kathy by Design

Instead of a pop up flap, I created a kinetic waterfall.  And the lift up flap is on the right instead of the left.

But don’t worry!  I’ll share the measurements for both folios in the description box below the video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

So, friends, which option will you choose?  Or will you come up with your own option?  Your crafting adventure awaits you, and I wish you crafting joy!
