Tea Party Tags Teapot Box Tutorial

Tea Party Tags Teapot Box Tutorial with Ciao Bella Timeless Moments & Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  This Tea Party Tags Teapot Box Tutorial is our Wonderful Wednesday Tag of the Month project.  Created with Ciao Bella’s gorgeous Timeless Moments paper collections, paper pretties from Reneabouquets and a darling Teapot Box Die Set from Anna Griffin, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Mom….or your favorite tea drinker.

Don’t worry…there are tags tucked inside the teapot box,  and we will make them together.  But I thought it would be a fun change of pace to create a box to hold our tags.  Naturally, when you have a teapot shaped box, you really should go ahead and create a Tea Party in a Box. Am I right?

The truth is, as a tea aficionado, I saw this die set a few weeks and ago, and…oops…it fell right into my cart!  I simply could  not wait a minute longer to play with it.

Why I Love Teapots

My great-grandmother owned an 18-room Victorian boarding house when I was a little girl. You could stay for an extended period of time in these gracious and spacious old homes.  Along with your room and bath, you received a little breakfast tray with coffee or tea and your evening meal as part of your room and board.

The dining room in this house was enormous, with a big cherry table that could easily seat 18 people.  A large sideboard with silver service and shelves with teapots and teacups in every pattern under the sun sat on a long shelf above it.  As a little girl, I used to stand and stare in wonder at all of those beautiful china patterns.

A cup of green tea (mostly milk and sugar) was a cherished afternoon ritual.  Although I was not allowed to drink from one of the precious china cups, I did have a pretty little cup and saucer all my own.  And that’s when my lifelong love for tea began.

Pretty in Pink

Here are a few tips for creating your own Tea Party Teapot:

  • First, die cut the teapot box twice using  heavy (110#) cardstock.  This creates a structure that is sturdy enough to hold all the goodies you’ll be packing inside.
  • Next, die cut the teapot from patterned paper.  I did not die cut the box part of the die, only the teapot.  To do this, cut a piece of patterned paper that is just large enough to accommodate the teapot.  You can trim away any excess before you adhere the paper.
  • Now add tulle to the box for a little extra frill.
  • Then, emboss an April in Paris doily (Reneabouquets) and adhere the teapot box for a perfect finishing touch.
  • Finally, decorate both sides of the teapot.  This way, if you use it as table decor for a party, it is pretty on both sides.
What’s in the Teapot?

Use scraps of patterned paper and the cut apart boxes from the paper collection to “gift wrap” your tea party elements.  Standard shipping tags are easily altered and fit nicely into the box.

Once all the treats are gone, the box can hold tea bags, candy, pencils, sugar packets, paper clips, buttons or any other small items.

Being presented with this teapot and all those goodies would be a wonderful start to the day! Beautifully embellished, shabby and pretty an all round super project. Your reminiscing about your gg reminded me of a cup, saucer, and plate circa1875 of my grandmothers that sits in the art space. Deep royal blue with delicate gold painting it too is a work of art and one of my most treasured possessions. Tea has a wonderful way of bringing folk together wether it be in artwork or an actual cuppa. This is a fabulous project Kathy and thankyou for the video.
