Fairy Tea Party Tag Box Tutorial

Fairy Tea Party Tag Box Tutorial with Reneabouquets and Ciao Bella Enchanted Land

Hello, Friends!  It’s Wonderful Wednesday and I have a darling Fairy Tea Party Tag Box Tutorial to share with you.  I invited some Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board, Butterflies, and Ciao Bella Enchanted Land papers to the celebration. (We’ll be working with these products all month long.)

Fairy Month in June

Did you know that June 23 is Midsummer Night, the shortest night of the year?  Well, I did, and that made me think of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where fairies play a major role in the story.  I also spied a little mushroom ring in the dewy morning grass. Any time my mom would see one of these little “fairy rings” she would say, “Oh, look!  The fairies had a tea party last night.”  And all of these things led me to the decision to make June “Fairy Month” at Kathy by Design.  All of our Wonderful Wednesday tutorials will feature fairies in one way or another.  It’s going to be loads of fun!

From Tags to Treat Box

Look at this darling fairy perched up in the daisy arbor!  Isn’t she the sweetest?  I’ll show you how to transform the lovely daisy frame into a shaker box in the video tutorial.  You’ll also learn how to turn 3 large Graphic 45 Tags into a splendid treat box/tea party in a box with the wink of an eye!

A Peek Inside

A box inside a box seems like an appropriate design for fairy month, doesn’t it?  And this box has a lovely tea party tucked inside.  There sides fold down to reveal even more treasures!

Look at all the wonderful goodies you can stash inside this fun box design!  I think this would also be beautiful done up in Christmas papers (maybe next month???) too.

Stamperia Voyages Fantastique Tag Folio Tutorial: February 2024 Tag of the Month

Hello, Friends!  We’re going Steampunk today with a Stamperia Voyages Fantastique Tag Folio Tutorial.  This is our February 2024 Tag of the Month feature, and it is a good one!  Even if you are not a fan of Steampunk style, you will want to stick around to learn how to create this fun, interactive tag folio.  It’s one of those designs that you’ll want to make over and over again with lots of different paper collections.

Flips, Flaps and All Kinds of Tags!

If you love, flips, flaps, pockets, pull-outs, and tags, then I think you are in for a treat today.  Our tag folio is made with all 4 sizes of the Graphic 45 Kraft Tags as well as their Policy Envelope and File Folder dies.  This gives us lots and lots of room for creative fun.

Mixed Media Mayhem

Steampunk style calls for metal embellishments and finishes.  I’ve found such an easy way to add that copper patina to an embossed background, and I’ll share the steps with you in the video tutorial.

This design has little surprises tucked in everywhere, my friends.  We’ll do a walk through so you can see them all.

The Flip Side

The back side of this tag features a really fun file folder folio with pull out pages.  The small pocket on the bottom of the tag holds an ATC tag, which keeps the file folder from flapping open.

Here’s a peek inside the file folder.  Open the  little magnetic  flap on the right and see what surprises are waiting within.

How about a simple pop up page?  This is probably the easiest way in the world to make a pop up element.

  • First, cut a 7″ x 2″ strip of designer paper.
  • Next fold it in half at 3 1/2″.
  • Then fold the right hand side toward the middle.
  • Repeat with the left hand side.
  • Now adhere the left and right hand panels as seen in the photo.
  • Dress the panels up with some fussy cut images, and that’s all there is to it!

January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial

January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial with Spellbinders Wax Seal and Reneabouquets

Hello, Friends!  It’s a brand new year, and I’m here to share my January 2024 Tag of the Month Tutorial with you, Y’all asked for a monthly tag tutorial, and there’s no better time to kick this new series into gear.  I hope you all enjoyed the little break we took between  Christmas and New Year’s.  We had lots of festive family gatherings, loads of good food, and I even managed to sneak in a little nap here and there.  But now it’s time to get back in the rhythm  work and videos and blog posts and all the rest.  I’m excited about all the fun things I have planned for us in 2024!

Photoplay Midnight Garden

I’ve been waiting to share this gorgeous Photoplay Midnight Garden paper collection with you for quite some time.  It was released in late autumn of 2023, and I was already up to my elbows in fall and Christmas crafting, so I didn’t get to share it with you.  But it’s the perfect choice for this first tag of 2024!  The base is a Graphic 45 Large Ivory Tag.  Liners are cut with the Large Tag Dies.

Dressed up with flowers, Glitter Glass Dragonfly and April in Paris Doily from Reneabouquets, this tag has such a wonderful vintage vibe.  You’ll learn how to put the tag together step by step in the video tutorial below.

Spellbinders January Wax Seal of the Month

Have you discovered wax seals yet?  I was first introduced to them when I was helping our daughter with her wedding invitations last year.  They are so much fun to make, and add a great textural element to any project.  So when I had a chance to sign up for the Spellbinders Wax Seal of the Month Club, I did not hesitate!  You’ll learn how to create this pretty wax seal in the tutorial, too.

A Tag with Two Faces

Do you know how January got its name?  In Roman mythology, Janus was the god of beginnings. He  had two faces: one that looked back and one that looked forward. ( Yes, I was a mythology nerd when I was about 10 years old.) The month of January is named for him.  So I designed this month’s tag with two “faces”, if you will.  The front side is a pretty decorative tag, but the back side features a double pocket and flap element.   Surprise!

Two pockets give us lots of room to tuck in little treats, which is something I always try to do when  making a card.   Create the double pocket with a Graphic 45 Regular Ivory tag and a scoring tool.  It’s fast, easy and makes for a great surprise on the back of the tag.
