Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot

As a tea lover, I’m a huge fan of the Tea Time Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  This 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ top fold card uses the large tea pot image as a shaker element.  The best part is that I did not have to stamp a single image on this card.  The Tea Time Paper Collection includes wonderful colored images that I can just die cut with the matching dies.  No coloring required!  This makes it super fast to put together a fabulous card.  Because some times you have time to color…and sometimes you don’t!

Tea Time Shaker Card: Put it Together!

  • First, cut out a 5″ x 7 1/4″ panel of designer paper from the Tea Time Collection.
  • Next, double mat the image on both cream and pale pink cardstock.  Cut each mat slightly larger than the previous panel.
  • Then create a 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″  card base from lavender cardstock.  Score in a 1/2″ deep spine on either the top or the side to accommodate the inner box pocket.
  • Now, die cut the large Intricate Swirl Frame from cream cardstock.  Back with dimensionals and adhere to the designer paper panel.
  • Next, die cut the tea pot, tea cups, flower swag and tea bag from the paper collection.  Use the label die to cut a window in the tea pot.
  • Then back the window with clear cardstock, add 3 layers of foam strips around the perimeter of the tea pot.
  • Die cut a 2nd tea pot from patterned paper.  Place sequins in the center of this panel.
  • Now carefully align the shaker window tea pot over the patterned paper and adhere.
  • Finally, add the die cut tea cups, flower swag and tea bag.  Place dimensionals on the back of each element to add lots of depth to your finished card.
  • Place dimensionals on the back of your shaker element and adhere to the card base.
Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot: The Details

Now for the fun part: adding all those lovely little details to finish off the card.

  • First, die cut a second lid for the teapot.  Adhere with pop up dots to create even more depth and dimension on your card.
  • Next, stamp, color and die cut small Cherry Blossom Retreat Flowers.  Place small stamens or TuTu Pink Prills in the center of each and scatter around the card.
  • Then die cut some of the cheeky little birdies from Cherry Blossom Retreat.  Use the large ball stylus in the Deluxe Flower Shaping Tool Kit to round out the center of their bodies.  Then place them on the tea bag tag and the tea cups.

Finish the card front with ribbon and string bows.  I did add Rajni Chawla’s Crystal Clear to the flower centers on the swag and the tea cups.

Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot: A Peek Inside

There’s a tea party waiting for you inside the card.  How fun is that?

Wrap a tea bag, honey stick, cookie and chocolate up in some of the designer paper.  Then tuck them inside the box pocket along with a sweet vintage silver spoon.  Now you’ve turned this lovely card into a gift!  I

Cherry Blossom Retreat Summer Shaker

Heartfelt Creations Cherry Blossom Retreat Summer Shaker for the June Alumni Blog Hop
This hop is now closed.  The winner is SandiB chosen from Gloria’s Blog.  Thanks for hopping!

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations June Alumni Blog Hop.   Today I have a Cherry Blossom Retreat Summer Shaker Card to share with you.  There will be lots of useful tips and tricks to help you create this card on your own, so let’s get started!

  • Begin by trimming an 8 1/2″ x 11 piece of Whip Cream Cardstock to measure 8 1/4″ x 11″.
  • Next, place the long side of the card on your scoring tool and score at 4 3/4″ and again at 9 1/2″.  This will leave you with a 1 1/2″ flap that we will turn into a pocket.
  • Now die cut (2) Elegant Pocket Accents from Whip Cream Cardstock.  Overlap them in the center of the card, wrapping the extra ends around to the back side.
  • Learn how to make the shaker element  HERE.
  • Then learn how to create the cherry blossoms HERE.

TIP:  Always make extra flowers!  This card came together very quickly because I had flowers left over from a previous project.  You might as well make a whole bunch of flowers while you have all your craft tools and materials out.  Store finished flowers in plastic bins.

Cherry Blossom Retreat Summer Shaker: A Peek Inside

Cut 8 1/8″ x 4 5/8″ liner papers for the inside of the card.  Then cover the pocket flap with an 8 1/8″ x 1 3/8″ panel of designer paper.  Now cut the border sentiment and adhere along the bottom.  Adhere only the sides of the pocket flap and adhere to the card base.

Cherry Blossom Retreat Summer Shaker: Bookmark and Gift Card Wallet

  • Fussy cut the tag from the paper collection leaving some of the floral details along the edge.
  • Then mat on a scrap of pink cardstock.
  • Adhere just 1/4 of the top edge of the matted tag to a piece of scrap blue cardstock and trim around the edges.
  • Now punch a hole in the tag, about 1/2″ from top edge.  Thread with ribbon and silver metallic string.
  • Slip the bird house charm onto silver string and thread through the ribbon loop.
  • Fussy cut or die cut the tag from the paper collection and adhere to the bookmark.

  • Create the gift card wallet with a 6 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scrap of blue cardstock.
  • Score in half at 3 1/4″. Then fold to form a folio.
  • Line the interior as seen in the photo below.
  • Then create a little gift card pocket by scoring 1/2″ along the sides and bottom of a 4 1/4″ x 2″ scrap of pink cardstock.
  • Fold along the score lines.
  • Then cut away the corners and fold to form a pocket.

Heartfelt Creations Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card for the Alumni Hop

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the  April 2019 Alumni Hop!  This month I have a darling Heartfelt Creations Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card to share with you.

Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card: Building the Card Base

Just look at all those cheeky little birdies clustered around the delicate cherry blossoms on this 4″ x 7 1/2″ box style card!  They make my heart sing!  Here’s how I built the base for this sweet card.

  • First cut a 7 1/2″ x 11″ panel of Whip Cream Cardstock.
  • Then, place the long side of the paper on your scoring tool.  Then score at 4″, 4 3/4″, 8 3/4″ and again at 10″.  This will leave you with 2 short flaps on the right hand side.  Fold the outermost flap under and adhere.  The remaining flap will form a pocket inside the card.
  • Now crease along all the scored lines to create a little book with a 3/4″ spine on the left.
  • If you wish to use a ribbon closure, as I did on this card, then add it now using 1/2″ Scor-Tape to secure it.
  • Next, cover front and back covers with 3 7/8″ x 7 3/8″ panels of designer paper.
    • TIP: You may machine stitch around the front cover  to add extra texture if desired.
    • TIP: Assemble the card cover before you attach it to the card base.  This makes it easier to assemble the card interior, and protects the card cover from soil or damage.

Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card: Creating the Shaker Element

Here are the steps to follow to create the shaker frame.

  • First, use the Eyelet Oval and Basics Small Die to cut the oval center from the floral card front in the paper collection.  Save the frame for another use.  Keep the decorative center as we will use it for the focal image inside the shaker.
  • Next die cut the frame from Whip Cream Cardstock.  To do this, I layered the Eyelet Oval & Basic Small Die with the #3 die from that set.  A bit of washi tape placed across both dies will keep everything neat and centered.
  • Now use just the outer frame die to cut clear acrylic cardstock.
  • Then adhere the acrylic die cut to the back side of the Whip Cream frame using Dries Clear Adhesive.
  • When the adhesive is set, place a triple layer of Darice Adhesive Foam Strips around the back side of the frame.
    • TIP: Make sure all the tape ends are closely butted up against one another to prevent the shaker elements from leaking out of the shaker box.
  • Now adhere the focal image to the card base.
  • Next,  fill the center of the image completely with Buttons Galore Rainbow Unicorn Shaker Mix.
  • Finally, remove the top layer of liner tape from the foam strips and center the shaker frame over the focal image.  Press in place.
Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card: Creating the Cherry Blossoms

Did you know that Heartfelt Creations now includes 2 sheets of pre-colored images that are all ready to cut out with the matching dies?   This makes is quick and easy to create perfectly color matched flowers for your project.

  • First, cut out flowers, leaves and bird images from the Cherry Blossom Retreat Paper collection using the Tweet Cherry Blossoms Dies.
  • Next, place the items face down in the 3D Cherry Blossoms Shaping Mold.
    • TIP: You can shape up to 3 layers at a time using the mold.  Just spritz each individual layer lightly with water before adding the next layer. I personally find that doing just 2 layers at a time yields the best results.
  • Now, layer the flowers together using hot glue or Dries Clear adhesive.  I did not layer the tiniest flowers on this project.
  • Next, pierce a hole in the center of each layered flower using the Golf piercing tool.
  • Then thread stamens through the holes, securing the back side with a little hot glue.  I used wired stamens on the mid sized blossoms, and rock candy stamens on he large blossoms.
  • Now, use a bit of sponge to tap the petals with Dries Clear Adhesive.  Drop each flower into a container and sprinkle with Rajni Chawla’s Frosting Powder.
  • Next, fill the centers of the smallest blooms with Dries Clear and a sprinkling of TuTu Pink Prills.
  • Finally adhere the prepared flowers to the card.
Cherry Blossom Retreat Shaker Card: A Peek Inside

The interior of the card features 2 pockets.

To make the side pocket:

  • First, line the card base with designer paper.
  • Next, fold the flap we scored and secure it to the card base at the top and bottom edges.
  • Finally, cut a border strip to cover the pocket flap.

To make the box style pocket on the left:

  • First, cut a 5 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ panel of Whip Cream Cardstock.
  • Now, place the long side on your scoring tool and score at 1/2″, 1″, 4 3/4″, and 5 1/4″.
  • Next, turn this panel so that the short side is against the rail.  Then score at 2 1/2″ and 3″.
  • Crease and burnish all the scored lines.
  • Next, cut away the outermost rectangle on each side of the box pocket. (Refer to photo.)
  • Then cut a slit from the bottom edge to the second crease on each side.  (Refer to photo.)
  • Now, place a dab of adhesive on the back side of the small square at the bottom, and adhere to the tab above it.
  • Now just fold scored lines on the bottom to form the base of the box.  Adhere the small tab to the bottom of the box for extra strength.  (You will see how this works when you are constructing the box.)
  • Finally, fold the sides in and adhere to the box base.
    • TIP: I like to cut a small triangular piece away from the top of the box sides once the pocket is built.  This way, they are less visible.
  • Now adhere the box pocket to the left  hand side of the card base.

Use the Album Tags and Accents Dies to create a little bookmark to tuck into the right hand pocket.  Then, create a little treat wallet using the scraps on your work table and tuck it into the box pocket.

You’ll find a linked supply list for this project below the post.
