Heartfelt Creations Lush Lilac Tea Time Tea Party in a Box Card by Kathy Clement

Heartfelt Creations March 2021 Alumni Hop: Lush Lilac Tea Time Party in a Box Card

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations March 2021 Alumni Hop!  The hop starts here and lasts until 11:55PM EDT on Monday, March 29th.  Today I have combined two of my favorite Heartfelt Creations springtime collections: Lush Lilac and Tea Time.  The end result is this Lush Lilac Tea Time Party in a Box Slimline Card.

Tea Time Under the Lilacs

Wouldn’t you just love to have tea out under the lilacs?  Here’s how this sweet card came together.

  • First, score an 8 1/2″ x 11 sheet of lilac cardstock on the long side at 4 1/4″, 4 3/4″, 9 1/2″ and 9 3/4″.  Fold to form a top fold card base with 1/2″ spines on the top and bottom.
  • Stamp, die cut, shape, ink and layer a whole bunch of lilac blossoms from the Lush Lilac collection.  Brush the petals with Dries Clear Adhesive and sprinkle with Crystal Clear Glitter.
  • Now add a bit of adhesive to the center of each lilac and fill with Minnie Pearls Prills.
  • Next, cut an 8 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ panel of gingham paper from the Tea Time Collection for the front of the card.
  • Then die cut the Eyelet Lace Frame from white cardstock.  Cut it in half from side to side, then overlap the edge on the gingham pattern so that it fits the card base.
  • Now die cut 3 tea pots, tea cups and tea bag from the Tea Time paper pad.  Back these with dimensionals and adhere along the front of the card.  Decorate with the prepared lilac blossoms.

A Peek Inside

Create a box pocket inside the card.  (You can watch this video to see how to do this.)

Gift wrap tea bags, chocolate, cookies, and a honey pouch to tuck into the box pocket.  Use your paper scraps from Lush Lilac and Tea Time to do this.  Create a tiny note card as well.  Then tuck in a demitasse spoon and honey dipper to complete the Tea Party in a Box.

Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot

As a tea lover, I’m a huge fan of the Tea Time Collection from Heartfelt Creations.  This 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ top fold card uses the large tea pot image as a shaker element.  The best part is that I did not have to stamp a single image on this card.  The Tea Time Paper Collection includes wonderful colored images that I can just die cut with the matching dies.  No coloring required!  This makes it super fast to put together a fabulous card.  Because some times you have time to color…and sometimes you don’t!

Tea Time Shaker Card: Put it Together!

  • First, cut out a 5″ x 7 1/4″ panel of designer paper from the Tea Time Collection.
  • Next, double mat the image on both cream and pale pink cardstock.  Cut each mat slightly larger than the previous panel.
  • Then create a 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″  card base from lavender cardstock.  Score in a 1/2″ deep spine on either the top or the side to accommodate the inner box pocket.
  • Now, die cut the large Intricate Swirl Frame from cream cardstock.  Back with dimensionals and adhere to the designer paper panel.
  • Next, die cut the tea pot, tea cups, flower swag and tea bag from the paper collection.  Use the label die to cut a window in the tea pot.
  • Then back the window with clear cardstock, add 3 layers of foam strips around the perimeter of the tea pot.
  • Die cut a 2nd tea pot from patterned paper.  Place sequins in the center of this panel.
  • Now carefully align the shaker window tea pot over the patterned paper and adhere.
  • Finally, add the die cut tea cups, flower swag and tea bag.  Place dimensionals on the back of each element to add lots of depth to your finished card.
  • Place dimensionals on the back of your shaker element and adhere to the card base.
Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot: The Details

Now for the fun part: adding all those lovely little details to finish off the card.

  • First, die cut a second lid for the teapot.  Adhere with pop up dots to create even more depth and dimension on your card.
  • Next, stamp, color and die cut small Cherry Blossom Retreat Flowers.  Place small stamens or TuTu Pink Prills in the center of each and scatter around the card.
  • Then die cut some of the cheeky little birdies from Cherry Blossom Retreat.  Use the large ball stylus in the Deluxe Flower Shaping Tool Kit to round out the center of their bodies.  Then place them on the tea bag tag and the tea cups.

Finish the card front with ribbon and string bows.  I did add Rajni Chawla’s Crystal Clear to the flower centers on the swag and the tea cups.

Tea Time Shaker Tea Pot: A Peek Inside

There’s a tea party waiting for you inside the card.  How fun is that?

Wrap a tea bag, honey stick, cookie and chocolate up in some of the designer paper.  Then tuck them inside the box pocket along with a sweet vintage silver spoon.  Now you’ve turned this lovely card into a gift!  I

Heartfelt Creations Tea Time Shaker Card by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Hello, Friends!  Welcome to the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop!  This Tea Time Shaker Card is precisely my cup of tea!   Soft and shabby chic, it’s also super easy to put together, thanks to the easy to use dies!

Tea Time Shaker Card: Creating the Card Front

The base for this beauty is a 5 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ top fold card with a 1/2″ spine.   Here’s how to put the cover together:

  • First, stitch around  edges of the sweet lavender gingham background,
  • Next, cut a 3″ wide belly band from the print on the reverse side and adhere in the center of the gingham panel.
  • Now,  die cut  the Eyelet Lace Frame from white cardstock.  Then adhere a 4″ x 6″ panel of clear cardstock on the back side of the card.  TIP: adhere the clear cardstock with Art Institute Dries Clear adhesive.  It holds well, and as the name suggests, dries clear.
  • After this, place 3 layers of Darice 1/8″ foam strips around the edges of the clear cardstock to create a shaker frame.
  • Next, fill the center of the belly band with your favorite shaker mix.
  • Now carefully center the shaker frame over the card front.  Press in place to seal all the edges of the foam strips.
  • Die cut the tea pot, cups, and floral corners from the Tea Time Collection.  Back with foam strips to create dimension and adhere.
  • Die cut the small cherry blossoms, birds and leaves from the Cherry Blossom Retreat Paper Collection.  Add Prills to the centers of the flowers and adhere as seen in the photo.
  • Tie bows and adhere in the corners.

Tea Time Shaker Card: A Peek Inside

A box pocket and decorative panel carry this tea party inside the card.

Create a little treat wallet by scoring and folding the gingham paper from the collection.

Fill it up with lots of treats!  Now our shaker card is a gift.

Die cut the tags using the Tags Die.  Punch a hole at the top and connect with a small O ring.  Add ribbon, a cherry blossom and a sweet tea cup charm to finish the tag album.
