Wonderful Wednesday Fall Flowers Tutorial

Wonderful Wednesday Fall Flowers Tutorial with G45 Autumn Greetings & Spellbinders Black Eyed Susan

Hello, Friends!  Today we’re going to share our Wonderful Wednesday Fall Flowers Tutorial with you.  I’ve used these pretty posies all month long on various projects.  Made with  Spellbinders Susan’s Garden Black Eyed Susan Dies, they make gorgeous fall blooms.  Best of all they are quick and easy to shape, as you will see in the video tutorial below.

One of the things I love about handmade flowers is the fact that you can color them to match your project.  We’ll take some time to create some color variations as we custom dye white cardstock.  It’s inky good fun, and I hope you’ll be inspired to give it a try.

Graphic 45 Autumn Greetings Shaker Card Folio

Do you have it in you to see another card made with the gorgeous G45 Autumn Greetings collection?  I had a few bits and bobs left over from earlier projects, so I decided to put them to use in this 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ folio style slimline card.

TIP:  Give smaller images a bigger presence on a card by placing them in a shaker frame.  Then cluster flowers, foliage and ephemera around the frame to make it the focal point on the card.

TIP: Use ephemera bits to tie images together. The pumpkins on the top of the shaker frame, it create a visual flow from the sentiment panel to the focal image.

A Peek Inside

To make the card base:

  • First, score an 11″ x 8 1/2″ panel of cardstock at 4 1/4″, 4 1/2″ and 8 3/4″.
  • Next, adhere a 4″ x 8 1/2″ panel of contrasting cardstock on the front flap to give you more room to display pretty papers.

TIP:  Place adhesive on just the top, bottom and right hand side of the flap page to form a hidden pocket inside the card.

Here’s the card fully opened, and you can see that there are pockets, pockets everywhere!  If you’d like to find out what’s tucked inside these pockets, please stick around for the video tutorial below.

It is all in the layering Kathy, Wether it be the bloom mediums or folio design. The layers of inks and shimmer add dimension let alone the shaping of the petals. It is therapeutic making flowers, starting with a desk covered with this and that then all of a sudden they come together and make for stunning embellishments. I have really enjoyed your flower of the month videos this year, thanks for sharing.
We are very busy with guests, and watching your videos is time out to relax and get the creative flow. Not long now and the brain will need to switch from birthday to Christmas making!
